Please show us how we can be more humane. Do we need to throw around accusations of cheating unless riders pass some impossible purity test? Is that how you show respect for people?...a rare 100% loyal Pro Race poster. A poster boy for the community.0 -

I suffer from depression. Pretty f****** badly. It's basically pills for me or failing to function.

And you know what? You've finally made me angry. It might occasionally leave me huddled up in a duvet for days on end. It's had the weird side effect of leaving the tip of my tongue feeling like it's permanently burned (true fact - I'm on meds because my tongue is unhappy). It's a pain in the backside, frankly. The one thing I can do though is laugh about it, take the piss, defuse it, do whatever the hell I want to make it my own. Because every day I've got to wake up and live with it, so I might as well be friendly with it.
And frankly, if the worst someone says about someone with depression is that he's got a truly tragic pair of cycling shoes, well, take it from me - it's probably the least of his concerns.0 -

What do you mean? I just expressed my disgust at people making cheap jokes directed towards someone with a serious problem like that.0 -

Nah. You just wanted another cheap reaction. And guess what? You got one. I don't know if your mother never loved you or what, but why are you so needy? Does everyone pick on you at school? Did nurse hide your slippers again? Surely your imaginary friend hasn't stopped talking to you again? What actually drives you on, because it sure as hell isn't having a reasonable discussion with people. You're not disgusted, you just want another lazy way to shut down any discussion that doesn't revolve around your peculiar world view. Another way to turn discussion onto your favourite hate targets and to somehow prove that you're right and knew it all along.
I'm amazed that you're allowed a communication device more advanced than a wax crayon, frankly, but seeing as you are - why not do us all a favour and try and say something interesting for a change?0 -
Dear oh dear, Troofy
Seems that underlayunderlay has figured you out0 -
(just to confirm, this is the "let it all out" thread, right? Or is 'pointless futile arguments' over there?)0
-
Just what the actual fuck is going on here.
I bin this forum off in the close season because it descends into this sort of farce. Now there is racing of sorts back surely we don't need this shit.0 -

If you don't believe me then you don't. That fine by me, but there is no need to make these kind of pathetic personal attacks.0 -

You expected detailed analysis of racing in a thread entitled 'who do you hate the most'?0 -
Not really but it didn't start out the way it seems to be ending.0

I once split up with someone with more or less that explanation...
It does raise the question over whether there's any actual worthwhile discussion to be had around doping. It basically seems to boil down to two schools - those whose willing suspension of disbelief has been forcibly ripped from their eyes, never to return, and those who never really had it (because doping goes right back to the golden age) and now find themselves bemusedly facing the idea that things might be getting better (or at least fuelled up with something less damaging to an actual competition). Some people seem so anxious to avoid being wrong twice that they won't risk being right once, and default to a position of 'everyone is doping, just some haven't been caught - and I can prove I'm right because they haven't been caught yet'.
Edit - It's hard to know how to have a meaningful discussion with that position, because anything that goes against the idea is taken as proof of how clever and perceptive, and willing to speak out against the received wisdom, the doubter actually is.0 -
That is an interesting discussion, maybe you should create a new thread for it so I can clarify my opinions there, rather than going off topic in this thread.
On topic: Richie Porte. I hate him quite badly.0 -
Let me guess, you hate anyone on this list eh? - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Team_Sky#Team_roster

Wrong again. I only hate those with a marginal gains transformation. I have nothing against those that seem to get no benefit from marginal gains or Brailsfords genius, Like Boassen Hagen.0 -

Porte's progress (not transformation) is normal given his early results ... A simple google would have given you that info ... but as you were, you seem to be having fun ...0 -

Or how about ,,,now we have caught Armstrong and the media spotlight has fallen on to our sport more than ever, so all those involved including teams run by ex dopers and teams quickly getting rid of Doping Dr's coming out with PR sound bites that in reality prove nothing to suggest the sport is any cleaner.
We are still getting riders busted for doping on a regular basis, including an ex World Champ.
I don't see any evidence that suggests Cycling has cleaned up it's a act.
I am still seeing riders getting busted for doping and not riders who are winning big.
If they have to dope to be mediocre, then to me that suggests that cycling is anything other than clean.0 -
He's found his next soapbox to go on about doping!!
"Squeezzzzzze those cheeks".'Performance analysis and Froome not being clean was a media driven story. I haven’t heard one guy in the peloton say a negative thing about Froome, and I haven’t heard a single person in the peloton suggest Froome isn’t clean.' TSP0 -

For offences dating back to when Ricardo Ricco was in his pomp.
Serious question : What would constitute evidence that cycling had cleaned up to you?
No positives? In that case, welcome to the forum Hein.Fckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0 -

Sorry, I suffer from a compulsion to say/post exactly the wrong thing. Have good friends that suffer from depression/angst , and have been known to struggle a bit in the winter myself. Not a lot of fun.Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -
Me too. I fully understand the main trigger of my depression, It starts as soon as I see a post with the name "The Truth".

That'd be Richie Porte 7th in the Giro, White jersey in the Giro, 4th at the worlds before he joined Sky.
Or is there a different Richie Porte?"In many ways, my story was that of a raging, Christ-like figure who hauled himself off the cross, looked up at the Romans with blood in his eyes and said 'My turn, sock cookers'"
@gietvangent0 -
The secret to Richie Porte's marginal gains is Toblerone. He practices his 1km efforts up and down the little honey and almond nougat flecked peaks.
