  • This forum has really gone to pieces in the off season, eh? How do I block/ignore the obvious culprits?

Is hating Sky worse than hating Contador?

Yes, it is on this forum....they are blinded by their fan-boy love for Braislford and his boys. Followed by closely by their love of ex doping team Garmin.

When anyone none Sky wins i.e. Horner for example . the accusations of doping start flying around. But when one of their boys wins, Froome, in what was IMO one of the the most dodgy and suspicious clean ride's I have ever seen
they will not even take in the idea that it was a bit dodgy to say the least.

But Horner, or anyone else who wins and is not a Sky rider all highly suspected dopers,

They are like a bunch of religious nutjobs,,, they only see what they want to

I mean they even have a thread on Wiggo and yak on about his clothes ,

Sigh. I thought this stupid thread had died a proper death. Am I surprised when I see the names that have resurrected it? No I am not, well its a thread about hatred and negativity after all.

Ignore it, they have a platform only because you have responded. If you hadn't they would have just been talking between themselves ;)

It's only a difference of opinion that anger some.

There are plenty of Di%kheads on here who could do with eating a Snickers bar or two before they post their Bullsh%%

Apart from the entirely fake personality, anti-doping sanctimony, and pitiful milking of a sprained ankle at the 2013 Giro? Strong charge sheet.

ah, so the old "EVIDENCE, OR ELSE IT'S LIBEL" line only applies to sky. I'm surprised.

Speaking of Wiggins, funny how he is now back to his normal climbing level, straight out the back as soon as the road tilts upwards.

He does not want to start winning every race like he did a couple seasons ago otherwise some people would suspect he was doing something naughty ...I mean that year he managed to keep his form all season.

Now they are managing him to just peak at the right time

    Nothing particularly rational.

I think I instinctively dislike young Americans who are touted as the next best thing.

Ultimately everyone raves about him and rates him but I haven't seen him do a that much beyond a good worlds TT.

That and he makes me feel old.
  • Not really the tnread for this but my 'beef' with Phinney is his lack of comment regarding Lance ... There was a couple of years where there was a severe love in and he even eulogised LA's missus as his 'sister' ...

I don't expect him to be naive ... But man up and say what his thoughts are on the man (rather than icon) ...

I'll tell you what I dislike about Phinney. I was at the 2008 Olympics and saw him doing the pursuit while sat amongst his fan club - they were handing out flyers and sticker and flags. And there were some really hot girls amongst them. So there you go. Pure envy.

I quite like Phinney, it's Van Garderen I dislike (Not hate I hasten to add) After he pretended he hadn't seen Cuddles in distress at the 2012 tour after the tack incident, even the missus dislikes him for that and she doesn't give a monkeys about cycling.

    He suffers from similar.
  • I get the feeling both Teabag Van Garderen and Phinney consider themselves a bit of a legend

    Off-putting

(as well as Teabag's behaviour in Tackgate, his massive strop during one of the big US races either last year or 2012 (sorry, too lazy to check which year) when the announcer mistakenly called Talansky's time as the leading time in the TT, was also less than endearing)

When it comes to the young crop of American pros around that age, give me Talansky any day of the week
  • I don't like Phinney because I wish I could pull off pink denim the way he does. My thighs would just look like a pair of hams (the perils of having 28inch leg)

I don't like Teejay VG. He strikes me as a bit of a diva and dull as dishwater.

I'd probably put that down to age tbh.

Are you thinking Tirreno-Adriatico, rather than Giro here? He pulled out of the Giro himself in 2013 with saddle sores.

To be fair, his ride that missed the cut was truly epic and very brave, and his own reaction was emotional on a properly human level. That it got blown into a madly overhyped internet campaign for a Disney ending wasn't really his fault, was it?

Correct. Blinded by prejudice so I was. As for the Disneyfication of hearing his father never giving up, each to their own, you sentimentalist.

I plead guilty, your honour. Though in my defence, I would like to draw your attention to the fact that I distinguish between Phinney's own sentiment and that of those who campaigned to see rules bent/broken just because they had to get the Kleenex out. Mainly because I think it's important to teach (particularly to Americans) that pursuing your dream, working hard and refusing to give up can also end in tragic failure, and that "losers" aren't always just people that couldn't really be arséd or didn't believe in themselves enough. I don't object to a bit of sentimentality, I do object to the false world view that all success is earned and all failure is deserved.

I throw myself upon your mercy, your Honour.

Thank you, your Honour. Good to see you subscribe to Disneyfied endings after all. For a truly coherent anti-Disney (pro-Kafka) policy you would have praised my argument and then sent me down for a million years :D
