The secret to Richie Porte's marginal gains is Toblerone. He practices his 1km efforts up and down the little honey and almond nougat flecked peaks.

That'd be Richie Porte 7th in the Giro, White jersey in the Giro, 4th at the worlds before he joined Sky.

Or is there a different Richie Porte?

That's the fellow. Nailed-on for a suspiciously dominant distant second behind Quintana in the Giro.

Yawn, little man, Big wide stretching yawn...

Wrong again. I only hate those with a marginal gains transformation. I have nothing against those that seem to get no benefit from marginal gains or Brailsfords genius, Like Boassen Hagen.

Wrong yet again. Marginal gains was Matt Parker's baby. His input with B.C and the Olympic track and road program. Brailsford just happens manage the team.

Mr Parker has taken his undoubted skills to pro football now, so I suggest you find a footy site and vent your anti marginal gains spleen on there. :D

A rather large part of me hopes that Porte doesn't do well in the Giro, I don't think I could cope with the inevitable crap storm that will be unleashed.

Only if the cameras follow him up the climbs.

  • Richie Porte never showed anything to suggest he would become one of the best climbers in the world. He lost several minutes on every mountain stage in that giro d'italia.

His transformation is of course less blatant than Froome and Wiggins, but he is still quite ridiculous.

He'd only been a pro four months. We did you expect? He still came 7th though. Even the legendary Cobo didn't manage a GT top ten until his sixth season.

  • But hang on, didn't Bradley Wiggins lose minutes on those mountain stages too? I'm confused.

In his first 3 week Tour he managed to lose time in the 3rd week? This is a revalation!

Cadel Evans did something similar in his first Giro and he went on to win a Tour and a World Championship... Burn the witch!

Which he followed up by being useless until he joined team magical gains. I'm not saying Porte is a new Riis, or Froome. He is maybe on the same level as Cobo in terms of transformation.
  • Why doesn't everyone just ignore him? If he hasn't got an audience, he hasn't got a voice ;)

Which he actually followed up with some more decent results in 2010 before Contador came the team with all his own climbing domestiques and Porte, having fallen out with Riis, was employed earlier in stages.

Followed it up with 4th in the Worlds and domestique duty for Contador for the rest of 2011.

I have been meaning to ask. If Sky are cheating so dreadfully, why hasn't the bio passport or WADA caught up with them yet?

S'ok. The Troof and his chums can give CIRC their evidence. Surely even Troofy et all wouldnt try to argue that a panel headed by a guy with a background in fighting organised crime, drug abuse, investigating alleged CIA secret prisons in Europe and illegal trafficking of human organs from executed prisoners, would dismiss their evidence or try to instigate a cover-up?

Pah Cookson's small fry. It's really a combination of:

    and

With a few of these thrown in for good measure...

I'd say I noticed that prior to pressing submit but I hadn't. I think they ride for Astana.

    At home with Pippo Pozzato.

  • Michael Rogers, for his entire career but especially in 2012. Nothing likable about that guy.
