Love it how Djokovic admits he was offered a wad of cash to fix a match, but still believes match fixing doesn't happen! Talk about cognitive dissonance.

The world number one, who claims he rejected £110,000 to lose a match early in his career, says there is "no real proof" of fixing among the elite.

"It's just speculation," said the Serb 10-time Grand Slam champion.

Curious to know why he only thought it now to let people know.

In fairness, he may very well have let the authorities know.

Presumably because a journo asked him following this morning's story.

EDIT: Apparently he also spoke about it in 2007, 2009 and 2012...

Ah ok so the real question is "how ignorant does Rick Chasey need to be to not comment on something" and the answer is " don't know - so far hasn't happened yet".

Don't worry about it, you usually pass for reasonably knowledgeable here.

But when I use my Rick Chasey login on the Knitting Radar forum or Showjumping World Message Board, wow, that's clueless, ignorant and uninformed. They think you're a real knobmoomin.

PS - If a very posh bloke called Charles attempts to give you a sound thrashing with a riding crop.... err.. sorry. I should probably have found out more about dressage before calling it horse dancing. He wasn't happy.

If a horse riding dressage bloke is on drugs and he gives Rick Chasey (mumsnet.co.uk failure), would he then be implicated? Or was he given prior warning? Or did he eat some steak? Or was there a cover up by Ugo and that's the real reason he's no longer in Green. Did Jeff Jones know about it after a meeting with a tennis coach who's swimming pool service bloke cleaned LA's pond back in '88...

So many questions, so many implications.

I see yer Nadal lost in the first round of the William Hill Open in the open cast pit formerly known as Australia, losing 6 games on the bounce after going up a break in the 5th. Would have been tasty odds against that.

I suspect Coe has missed that email.

    Along with all the others.

I see that noted hysterical conspiracists Adidas' disdain for the #BestMan4theJob mince on Coe has been leading R4 news bulletins all day. This reputedly intelligent serious operator is choosing the Blatter exit strategy. Wonder why.

4 Russians banned today, one for a childhood head injury, the other 3 for unwittingly touching a car steering wheel made entirely of anabolic steroids.

Mr Toad yet again. But of course he doesn't know anything about corruption or doping. How on earth does this slimy greaseball sleep at night. Urgh.

There's a difference between 'knowing' and 'hearing a rumour'. That looks like a non-story to me. Media generated 'scandal'.

I don't agree. Coe is fully aware of corruption and doping, but has chosen to go with it for many years. Unfortunately he made the mistake of blaming the media so they are after him and will discredit him totally in a very short space of time. The Daily Heil isn't going to print something where there's no evidence in a situation like this.

How many more skeletons before the slimy sh*te goes?

This is a guy who supposedly knows nothing about corruption within the IAAF (or doping), and who has denied everything so far only to go back on it a few days later. Forgive me if I'm wrong but this article suggests Coe knows about bribery at the very least? Or worse still, get your money out and join in.

    The bloke is revolting.

We aren't talking about an isolated incident with this man, there have been several instances now. This isn't a Clinic 'outing because I feel like it', it's one after another allegations that this bloke is far less than trustworthy.

And none of those allegations have had any substance. They have just been vague 'he must have known' (of non-specific wrong doing) speculation or article which exchange facts me rumour.

Show me any allegation where there is specific evidence of him having actual specific information pertaining to specific wrong doing.

Having a vague idea that there was some corruption in IAAF - well anyone 'knew' that.

    I don't agree. At all.

This is far from a Froome/Brailsford situation where there is absolutely nothing.

Coe has claimed a war on athletics despite everyone else at the top being aware of Russian doping for many years. This is a guy who said there is no cover up and then 2 days later admitted there must have been, this is a guy who steadfastly refused to understand that there has been a huge problem in athletics, this is a guy who has not reached out to any whistleblowers despite them putting their lives on the line, this is a guy who is happy for Salazar to be head coach of UKA despite much smoke, this is a guy who denies any knowledge of anything untoward until his back is right against the wall with nowhere else to go, this is a guy who was instrumental (and paid by Nike) in the WC non-bid and so on.

Rich, you are so damn trusting. I really don't get it. Fair enough if there is nothing, but regarding Coe there is a whole avalanche of stuff that he should know about unless he's a total f*ckwit.

It's not that I'm trusting, it's that I can recognise British media bullsh1t when I see it. This is a nothing story dressed up as scandal. You need to turn some of your mistrust on journalists rather lapping up every story like a junkie.

Show me something he has done wrong beyond some crap PR or, the real sin for most of his accusers, being a Tory.

That's a fair point. Are we to believe anything that the Daily Heil actually prints.

It has been a good ding-dong Rcih and Joel, not on the Decal thread level but worthy of a handful of popcorn.

I do not trust Coe. He wasn't complicit in the cover up nececelery but he was aware of it and for that fact alone, he is not the man for the job.
Like FIFA, the IAAF needs a really clean sheet or this whole saga is going to hang around like a post beer and curry night fart. The media want stories and when things are a bit dull, they have a continuous bone to chew on. Any more historical facts that emerge will simply maintain the spotlight on Coe, however big or small. It's unavoidable and so the IAAF needs a squeaky clean bloke at the top.

Just knackered. You know that over-tired sensation coupled with a lack of sleep? Might as well be drunk but this is cheaper and possibly healthier.
I didn't know that the humble celery was a distant relative of the leek though.

I was thinking more generally (particularly social media). But nevertheless journalists don't all hold a house opinion and the sports desk is separate from news/editorial. There will be a fair share of lefties at the Mail.

Now who's making allegations without any substance?
Besides; the political allegiance of journalists - made-up or known - is an irrelevance when the output is invariably edited to form right wing copy designed to rally the troops and provoke/dismay liberal sensibilities.

In this case with Coe - I think that there's an element of both views (yours and Joel's) being true: he's a bit whiffy AND the journo's are stirring it up.

Coe must be unsound on Europe to merit the Daily Hate treatment. We know he's finished now otherwise he'd already be running the Tennis Integrity Unit. They're desperate for a shiny new muppet.
