They only fight once or twice a year. That's the period they'd be doping. They have considerable down time in between when doping would be mostly pointless.
Unless it's recreational and he's getting nuttered on ketamine on a thursday night.

Isn't his complaint that he's in the middle of a training block now for a fight, and his sleep etc is getting disturbed by 6am knocks on the door? So if he was at it it would be now?

No shit. Very little point taking dope on the day of the fight...

Yes. My point was that he's getting tested a lot because of an upcoming fight not because of intel

    ok get your point Rich.

Either way he doesn't need to answer the door unless it's in his specified time window.

    Ha what a plonker.

I never gave a hoot about getting caught cheating when i was riding (at a very amateur level) because A they never tested and B i never knowingly took drugs either PED or social anyway . If i gave a positive it would have been from something i was eating or otc cold remedy or something and frankly if i had a cold i had a lemsip.

thinking back i imagine the weekly kebab would have contained all sorts

Quite why professional athletes bleat about being tested is beyond me.

Hang on, are you saying you took medication to level the playing field if you had a cold? Hypocrite

I can see his point. He's a ex athlete who is just messing about playing some friendlies as a publicity stunt. I don't think he's intending to actually play proper games. And he probably doesn't realise that lowly nobodies get tested too.

    Rubbish, hes on a trial.

I actually thought he looked pretty good albeit I watched about 2 minutes of highlights.

Anyway bit of a tangent but anyone see that Dan Roan has got himself in trouble for being recorded saying what most were probably thinking when it was revealed one of the Leicester City owners personal staff that died when his helicopter crashed was an ex Miss Universe contestant.

Yes I saw that but as I say from the highlights he looked pretty good - pace, power, height, good leap, very direct. Obviously it's a couple of minutes from 90 but 2 goals is not a bad return.

Roan following in the un-distinguished list of smug self satisfied pr4ts, with v little sports knowledge, who've held that 'Sports editor' post - Mihir Bose, David Bond.
  • After some of the allegations that Dan Roan has thrown at cycling he needed to be whiter than white.

In this incident he hasn't and he should probably resign as a result.

Ah David Bond. The man who asked Cavendish at the 2012 Olympics if the GB team (who rode on the front for 200km+) failed because they were too tired after the Tour and might have been better off missing it. Even by his own standards Cavendish looked disgusted.

Again, I've only seen the highlights but he wasn't totally awful though was he. Yes, it's a gimmick but fair play to him...

The man had clearly never seen a cycling road race in his life - he referred to the Cav / Brit pack as being 'unable to keep up' with the break that went 50km out or whatever it was.

Private conversation though, not his fault someone filmed it and released the film. Also I said as much as he was caught saying to my daughter earlier the same day too, I'm sure it had crossed the mind of most.

Reminds me of a runner friend of mine that got into cycling, rode the Marmotte and decided to enter an evening 3/4 road race with a couple of us. He went out the back in the neutralised zone - afterwards he said he thought we were all going off too fast and he was pacing himself so he'd catch and pass us later. Of course we lapped him at least once and this is on a road circuit.

Were you stood at the site of the incident where people had lost their lives, being paid to report on it (via one of the most regressive tax tools possible), and acting with total indiscretion in a public place where lots of cameras / mics were present?

The bloke is a total tool - even if you think it, as a TV journo you don't say it.

Private conversation, but still in public in earshot of a load of people who are upset over the deaths of the people concerned in a helicopter crash. I'd like to think I'd show better judgement than that, and I'm not BBC sports editor.

Well I'm sure he'd like to think he'd show better judgement than to be recorded too but occasionally all of us make mistakes.

What he said was hardly shocking and them laughing about it was not at either of the deceased but more at the shared pretence. To ask for someone to lose their job for that is incredibly harsh.

If Leicester member of staff had been filmed saying the exact same thing, Roan would have been first in the queue to express outrage them and call for their sacking. Just because he works for the BBC, it doesn't mean he's not as tabloid as they come.

Lots of replies to this effect. Hardly surprising, given it's spot on.
    Massive hypocrite.

A recent addition to the replies to his tweet "apology". :)

He's an utter prick. I can't stand it that people are always looking for a sacking these days. But if him getting sacked means I don't have to see his smug grin or even see his name again, this is worthy of a sacking.

  • Normally I'm one to not advocate for people to lose their jobs for mistakes, which seems to be the go-to reaction for Twitter kn0bs. But in this instance, it's so misjudged and crass there's little defence.
