Former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand on BT Sport: "If you look through that Barcelona squad, they have all achieved things.
"But I am sure this game will be there as one of the best they have played in. The fitness to press the way they did - there was a bag of emotions in that game."
Lucky that football is a game of skill and there would be nothing to gain from doping...0 -
... and I'm sure that there's absolutely no chance of anyone being bribed to throw a game either.0

It is a joke that individual players aren't made to be responsible for their own whereabouts data.0

Certainly a contrast to cycling (Lizzie D excepted)0

However, testing is so infrequent that a top player could list anywhere and not get three strikes.Twitter: @RichN950 -

Apparently the average NFL team prescribed 5,777 doses of NSAIDs and 2,213 controlled medications to players in 2012. I assume controlled meds means "something that would need a TUE". Makes tramadol abuse look a bit tame...0 -

Unlike cycling NFL doesn't have media and watchers rabid to nail athletes, coaches and managers to more crosses than Kubrick used on the set of Spartacus
So it'll all be good.0 -
If you read through the article, some of their emails were pretty brazen about beating the enforcement people. If you imagine the reaction if the Mail published an email from say Freeman about beating the UKAD inspectors... Makes you think.0

Love the frube being interviewed - he took PEDs out of 'curiosity'. Aye - curiosity at how much fcuking faster they'd make him. Why do people trot out this sh*t every time they get popped? It's the same from the top right the way to the bottom. Mugs.
As for the 'statistics' - meh. No hard and fast numbers (largely because the chances of someone getting asked to psis in a jar at anything below Elite/1st cat are about as high as me scoring with Gemma Arterton) and a load of speculationFat chopper. Some racing. Some testing. Some crashing.

What a load of guff. The interview with Stevens says it all really; "I think... I think... I think..." he doesn't KNOW anything. And of course he's going to think everyone is at it to normalize his own failings.0 -
ah, Stevens. The chopper who took EPO to get from cat 4 to cat 3, and put himself onto his own team. And now touts himself as the speaker of truth. Other trolls love him (as his interview being promoted here illustrates)

Isn't this just UKAD pitching for more money?
People in society take drugs - recreationally, to make them feel better, for vanity reasons, etc. Amateur sport doping is no different to that. And I view it with the same level of apathy. It's keeping it away from juniors that is important. And rugby, because people don't just lose, they get hurt.
Someone like Dan Stevens doped because Dan Stevens is a delusional bellend. And no amount of testing will change thatTwitter: @RichN950 -
To be fair to UKAD, in terms of numbers, amateur sports is where the real issue is and with their limited funding they are fighting a losing battle. It doesn't help that a tw@t like Dan Stevens always pops up to slag them off every time an amateur doping article is published (and I think this is a very amateur article about amateur doping). Nearly 50% of current UKAD bans being served by Rugby players, and top in the survey catagories yet none of the Case Studies are Rugby Players, go figure.0

depressing reading, although it reminds be of the CIRC report, where some says x% of people are doing this and it's taken as fact.
