What's the difference between gen 1 and gen 2 C456's?

They did actually change them very slightly; the first batch of frames had a different attachment system for the rear dropouts.
  • you can see why it looked that way :) how's your build coming along?

mmm in my head I think it included 'whoever designed them' in there somewhere

. 1x10 so don't have to faff with front mech but I refuse to run the cables up the same side of the frame as the controls.
well my mech cables run in front of the head tube as i think it looks better that way (my opinion ), sure it can increase rub. The routing works though.

If anyone is currently building a c456 I have a pair of 2012 RS RevelationRL's off a carbon 456, 20mm thru, tapered steerer, 150mm travel blk. Hardly used in great nick. I'm after a 15mm thru axle 120-140mm travel form of similar quality if anyone wants to swap.

Some nice looking 456's in this thread. Have updated my bike build thread with some updates I've made to mine over the winter. Had it a year now and still love it.

    Hi all :)
    I need some advice ...
I want to buy a OnOne Carbon 456, but I don't know which one to choose between the 18 and 20 inches.
    those are my measurements:
    Height 185 cm
    Inside Leg 85 cm
    Arm length 62 cm

Based on your experience, what is the best size for me? and with what Stem/Bar length and rise ?

thanks and sorry for my english :?

I'm from Italy, so I don't know if I write correctly

anyway, no advice for my problem?

Don't worry it doesn't show, you're probably better at English than some native speakers

I can't really help out at the moment, I'm still building mine. I can say that I'm 180cm and I've gone for the 18" frame. Having not ridden it yet I can't really comment on the fit.

    18" frame
    150mm forks
720mm wide bars with 1" rise
    50mm x 25 degree stem
    420mm seat post

Worked very well for XC/downhill/jumps for me, look on page 2 for an example.

185cm rider, simular inside leg and arm length.

Your English is better than some English peoples!

I'm 187cm and I ride a Medium, very comfortably, I have a straight 400mm seatpost which I bought because I'm tall riding a medium frame but it appears to not have been really necessary and a 75mm on one CNC stem. They have very long top tubes & that's why I chose the M. I would say if you ride a L on a normal geo MTB I think you'd be fine on a medium, C456.

    Hope that helps a little.

wow aha. tbh i'd rather the snow than the absolute boggy standing 6 inches of water mess that my local rides are right now.

Rear Brake: Avid Juicy 7 Ultimate (160 Superstar rotor)
    Headset: Superstar T2

Also, to add to the frame arguments, I have to say I'm 6ft on the dot, that's an 18" frame and first ride today, seems perfectly fine. I used to have a 21.5" frame before it got nicked, but it's perfectly good, not too small or anything
  • That c456, my friend, is bloody lovely. Nice one JMcP92.

    And I'm about 5.11 and my c456 is 18" with a 60mm stem.

heres my 456 and a first post :)

not a bad frame and a good all round bike for my riding

mostly slx deore and superstar fettled with a dropper and sektor 150mm single air with 20mm axle

mavic 717's are light and seem strong enough for what i do.

Heres one I built for a customer using a Saracen Zen as a donor bike. All the bits inc cables swapped straight over except the lower headset cup so a Hope bottom cup did the trick. Frame was £399, Saracen £499,Hope bottom cup £25. I'm building his mate the exact same bike using the orange carbon 456. And as an added bonus I now have two 14inch Saracen Zen frames !!!!!!!

when you're done, can you post some pictures of the orange version :) ?

I'm very interested in this color, but I haven't found yet a photo of a mounted orange frame

Yeah no worries, should be done on monday. I have to say that both the orange and yellow frames look awesome in the flesh and I reckon both look good with white or black componentry.

What size frame do you ride currently and what is the top tube length?

The difference between 16", 18" and 20" 456 frames is not huge which is why 18" tends to suit a wide range of body sizes.

you will be fine with the 18 as your 6 foot

i have a 16 frame and im 5"8 , my sons 18 is a tad too big and he is around 6 foot too

id go for a 50mm stem or there about's but its a personal choice really
