Was reading the whole Simeoni saga last night.

To quote Armstrong "You were wrong to testify against Ferrari and wrong to sue me. I have lots of time and lots of money. I will destroy you."

    Nice.

Wonder how Simeoni feels now. Vindicated?

He might as well get used to it come the tour.

Cavdendish can come accross as a right effin wean sometimes. Man up, FFS. Close to being another Liam Gallagheresque 'hard man'. Journo is doing is job.

Ignoring the details of the who will sue who, this one really is a crock. This sort of sponsorship is all about brand awareness, can USPS really think they didn't get their monies worth. His actions have ensured that years after they stopped paying there is still pics of him in the USPS kit on the news all the time. Where's the fraud. I don't like him, but the idea that these sponsors didn't get their pound of flesh is just mad.
Oh, I completely agree with you. They bought advertising and they got advertising - with bells on. But it's America so the law and sense don't often mix.

Here's tabloid journalism 101 for you: Ask celebrity a question on contraversial subject. If he gives a boring non-commital answer then you have no story and you have wasted your time, so keep asking the same question over and over again to wind him up. When he reacts you have your story.

Cav was filmed in Lance's room with George Hincapie during the 2009 TdF - it's on YouTube if you have a look. There's clearly a personal relationship there.

Someone should send Cav a Twitter message asking if he hope Lance is made someone's b*tch in prison, mirroring the comment he made about Riccardo Ricco.

Aye, the last few years really do show the value in having pliant cycling journos afraid to upset riders. Let's not go back to that.

Aw, course you can. Is the next question 'can I go out and play with my friends?' well, you can, but make sure you wrap up warm and that you're back in time for tea.

You can understand Cavendish's response. He's at his new team launch and someone wants a reaction from him about something he has nothing to do with.

    It's lazy journalism actually.

Eh? Asking 'one of the most / the most' successful TDF sprinters in history about a story happening right now about the highest profile, (ex) most successful TDF rider in history is perfectly normal, Cav should get used to it, its expected he'll be asked a lot. Same for Wiggo, same for any of them.

There's a difference between not wanting to upset riders by asking difficult relevant questions, and deliberating baiting them to get a reaction.
Yes Cav, is Cav and it doesn't take too many of the same questions to get this kind of reaction, but then the parasite knew that and got his prize.
Story moves from "Cav tells journo to F-off" to "Cav obviously has something to hide, as per LA" etc etc
That's not journos doing "their job", its paparazzi parasite style journalism.

Cavendish was asked and he answered. Then he was repeatedly asked and that's what snapped him.

What did they want him to say?

In this week of all weeks (when presumably everyone on here has had to defend the sport to friends and colleages), it's fine for him to mouth a Wenger style platitude of 'i haven't seen it'
No comment about it on his twitter, no comment on his website. From one of the world's best riders?

Cadel Evans perhaps recognises his responsibilty this week by his comment yesterday

    Responsibility??
We'll have to agree to disagree on this mate, because there is no way you can persuade me he has an obligation to be a diplomat here. He's a pigging cyclist.
He's probably been asked about LA and drugs a thousand times, both before and after the latest story broke.
Then he was " repeatedly asked his opinion about Lance Armstrong's 'doping confession'" and later "As he sat down for another round of interviews, he immediately snapped when a reporter appeared to begin asking him an Armstrong related question". Don't Blame him.
This journo wanted someone to react, and yes Cav is easy meat.
As said by others above its lazy journalist (at best)

I know we are all VERY suspicious about Oprah doing the interview, but at least it appears as though she has done SOME prep: http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/video/2013/jan/16/lance-armstrong-oprah-winfrey-video

I think she must be conscious that if she doesn't do a decent enough job, then her "credibility" is in tatters hence the get out of "I didn't ask all my questions".

For me that will make him just as much of a cnut as any doper. However, when you look at the facts. It would appear, to me anyway, that there are some marked differences between the tour last year and the dark days. Off course some of the things that Sky and Wiggins are doing look the same as what USPS did. But then not everything that USPS did was illegal so it's not unusual for the best team of one generation to look similar to the best team of the next generation. It's the things that look different that are telling to me.

Our favourite saffer poses an interesting question:

    Michelle Cound ‏@michellecound

Have my doubts about this "confession", but lets face it, @lancearmstrong isn't the problem, the fact that he never tested positive is.
