Just caught tail-end of it thanks to linky posted by mfin - from point where tv man asks him to comment on quote from WADA that for any kind of ban reduction to even be considered, Lance would have to testify under oath to WADA. Wot else did Cookie say?

When asked would LA confess, Cookson said well thats the $64k question. Is he sorry or is he sorry he got CAUGHT  . Cookson also said he doesnt want to see armstrong anywhere near the sport again cos he,s a cheat and a fraud. and quoted Nicole Cooke's line also about the tissues. trying to remember what else but he came over quite well.

Whatever you think of her employment decisions, you have to admit she's very bright and an excellent writer!

I'm not so sure about the "....very bright and excellent.....". In one sentence she talks about the interview streaming live and a couple lines later she refers to "taping". :? :?

Streaming live as in playing on the internet at the same time as the broadcast. No one said broadcast live...

Well, that settles that. Other than the clip you referred to, which is the only thing I've read by her, does she actually have any credibility as a writer? Your post left me sort of wondering. You know, the compliment and all.

I still wonder if we are expecting a bit too much from LA and this "confession" on Oprah. I expect he may name names to get himself off the hook but think that may be in private to USADA \ WADA etc rather than on a chat show. Hope I am proved wrong

I think he'll confess his own sins, and maybe apologise (he has to talk about something for 2hrs 30), but I suspect we ll not get names and details off of Oprah. That ll be saved for Tygart...

With some difficulty I think I will resist watching the interview.

Why participate in stage one of his (entirely staged) rehabilitation? The doping doesn't bother me as much as the monstrous arrogance and cynicism.

I kind of agree but if he does spill the beans about the UCI, etc. then the sport really could benefit going forward.

^Could be massively wrong here, but having read that BdJ article on Oprah, and watched the CBS interview, I'm starting to believe it will be a bit more than just a love in....

Not a Paxman for sure, but at least a Victoria Derbyshire or Richard Bacon

Don't get me wrong, unlike 99% of the internet I ll withold judgement until I actually see it, but from believing it was going to be a horrendous love in with no questions about cycling or doping whatsoever, I'm starting to believe she may have asked him something at least relevant...

Im waiting for the full transcript, but from what I gather he made a comment about how the Lance thing is sad and what will people like Kimmage now do with their lives. It's flippant, but the guy really needs to know when to keep quiet. As the yellow jersey holder he should be setting a bit of an example, no matter what his opinion of Kimmage comments like that do him no favours.

LONDON (AFP) — British cycling star Bradley Wiggins said Lance Armstrong’s anticipated admission of doping in a two-episode interview with talk-show host Oprah Winfrey would be both a “great” and “sad” day for the sport.

Wiggins, winner of last year’s Tour de France and Olympic time trial, added that the extent of doping in the 1990s meant it had now become cycling’s “lost” decade as a consequence of so many results being corrupted by drugs cheats.

“There’s a lot of angry people about,” Wiggins told Sky News in an interview conducted at his Team Sky training camp in Madeira. “They need that closure in their life because they’ve been battling for so long for this.

“It will be a great day for a lot of people and quite a sad day for the sport in some ways. But I think it has been a sad couple of months. The ’90s are pretty much a write-off now.”

So a massive bit of twisting something out of context to suit their own pathetic agenda (assuming that is a genuine transcript)

    No probs,

I hope he's clean, but to be honest with pro cyclings history and what Armstrong got away with. They have to accept this view.
