Well, there will probably be very little detail given up by him, and plenty of trying to sound sorry, bit of welling up ...and dollops of 'I am proud to be an American I hope America can forgive me' kind of sentiment being chucked about, some of the American public will be won back.

Of course, anyone with much knowledge of his story will find it all irritating to watch someone not have to be answerable to the questions a lot of us would like to see asked. The press won't let him off lightly, he's shat on too many people too repeatedly for too long.

I reckon we should count how many times the words America or American are dropped in. Once for every 2 minutes?

What do you reckon Lance is going to pay Landis to drop the lawsuit at DoJ? See it reported he's made friendly approach to Landis.

Good question. Landis is reportedly not living high on the hog (and I dont mean Bruyneel)

Very likely option. The lawsuit could potentially be very damaging, in addition to it being expensive.

Below article is quite interesting too: Commentary: Forget Oprah. What is Armstrong offering USADA?

Interesting that. Do you think he would have any dirt on the current crop of riders? Contador for example from their time at Astana or did they have completely different programmes? Something suggests he will be the type of person to want to bring down those he fell out with back in the day....

Possible, I would assume that every action is very carefully planned and double checked with his legal team.
I expect that LA under oath and in front of Jeremy Paxman will give different results than the Opera interview.

I just hope that what goes around comes around....

The American buyers did quite well out of that. They built a successful retirement community around it, using it to attract purchasers.

Dennis isn't allowed on the sofa.

He's only allowed in the house when it's particularly cold.

I've edited the title of this thread given natural connection between the 3 parts of the title now..with the near certainty Lance Armstrong will finally admit doping later this week

It is said he will implicate people at governing bodies but not riders. Will it be worth Tygart doing a deal?

    And also

Strongly rumoured Justice Department will join the whisteblower lawsuit. We will know by tomorrow

the deadline for the Justice Department to join the suit is Thursday, the day Armstrong's much anticipated interview with Oprah Winfrey is scheduled to air

Well it made BBC headlines this morning. Breaks down in tears etc... I do hope he coughs up suppliers, doctors etc. It will be more beneficial to strip the wiring out of the doping machine.

If anything positive is to come out of this as it seems the clever guys think he can get away with this, it would be that Armstrong uses his knowledge, experience and contacts to bring needed change into pro cycling, not a few new Grand Prix races but a ground shift in doping control and sporting direction, the UCI.

Thinking about this, he is probably the best person on the planet to change the UCI. That would be at least one good thing he could do and he owes cycling more than he owes any US Govt Dept

No! Why should people who cheated and lied get a position of power, it's sickening.

I never thought this would happen, if the NYT report is correct. It seems LA has little to gain from keeping quiet and a lot to lose which is the opposite of what everyone appeared to think a couple of months ago. It is hard to guess what is going on in the background.

This story is about to explode and interestingly will probably end up being as much a governance story, than just wonderboy. Hopefully it will also root out some hitherto shadowy figures, the moneymen.

Only LA could come up with this kind of show!
  • Agreed.
Maybe Bertie could learn from this and bury some bad news of his own  . No-one will be interested in this given the magnitude of the LA confession - if that is how it plays out.
    Can I upgrade???

Fairly sure we'd notice if Bertie confessed...we'd lose Frenchie for a start...

As much as she annoys me on twitter, Chris Froome's missus seems to have hit the nail on the head with her recent tweet:
Have my doubts about this "confession", but lets face it, @lancearmstrong isn't the problem, the fact that he never tested positive is.

Let's just hope that this "confession" is half decent and exposes people within the goverence, rather than just being some sort of playground banter like but he started it sir or but everyone else does it so I thought I'd join in that I'd expect to hear in a primary school!!

edit: would like to clarify that after reading Tyler's book I think Armsstrong was part of the problem, but not the only problem!

LOL! Im not suggesting in anyway that Armstrong should be even cleaning the toilets at the UCI. His future testimonies, admissions and new found sense of openness could be used to bring needed change to the UCI. He knows the loopholes, bad guys and good guys. He has to help bring them down or lift them up.

Tip for David Walsh - Don't watch the hand being profferred to you. Watch the other one - there's usually something in it.

LA has the ability to take down the UCI leadership...certainly he can do more than change cycling now can do, so his confession will be useful and important to change cycling now
