Let's hope a couple of riders get between them though as that's a fair amount of time over 500m.

    Hoy p*ssed that.
It is - but as I said above, Trott beat her by a second in the 500m TT at the world champs, so achievable.

Indeed he did - looked like he was cycling down to the paper shop on a Sunday morning 8)

With that sort of gap there would probably be more than 1 rider between them in any case. I'm just worried she is a bit tired after all the pursuit efforts.

So how you can have records if every velodrome is different?
Interestingly, in Beijing for any track events which are raced over a set number of laps vs a set distance (men's team sprint is always 3 laps whereas men's team pursuit is always 4km) any records were referred to as world's bests rather than world records. This terminology seems to have changed for London. I think they do now specify a 250m track for Olympics and UCI World Championships.
Worlds best means for that year, world record is world record. All olympics will be on 250m track same as worlds.

Well done Laura - she certainly brings out the nerves when I watch her ride! Still can't believe the power someone that small can put out.

Yes Pendleton came marginally out of the sprint lane over quite a few meters length. She'll be pissed to be DQ twice in this games.

    Thanks Rick and Inky

So that's 6 Gold and 1 bronze so far, out of 8 events?

(Not forgetting 1 Gold and 1 bronze for mens TT, 1 silver for womens RR)

Anna Meares was stronger there... but... if theyre gonna be so tight on the rules then Meares came down INTO the sprinters lane on that one.

I don't agree with the relegation... meares elbowed her and forced her to move. Not really fair that.

Meares did ride a good second race though.

Christ somebody had better wrap VickyP up before she goes to pieces completely!!

The second she had to roll off after the trackstand I was shouting go go go! She had to just bury it from then on, too late to gain anything by waiting.

I think Meares looked better, would have been good to see it go to three but I think after the DQ Vicki decided that things were over for her.

If there is going to be a chance to DQ a British rider I think the UCI will take it though.

its a bit ridiculous... wonder how many events they'll take out next time to stop GB getting medals?

Rubbish and Rubbish I reckon - Mears was just better. It's not just Team GB that can smash it, fair play to the girl, it clearly meant a hell of a lot to her!

    Come on Then Chris!

I gather it 's ok to thump the lead rider down the track then lean on her , but not to wobble while that is being done to you.

Yes she was, quicker and better tactics. Given that Pendleton was just 0.01 ahead before the DQ I can see the reason.

Can we get rid of Porter please.
