I guess Radioshack have the excuse they need to avoid paying him the salary they owe.

Aye. Where does it leave Team Propecia or whatever it's called, though? Thought the deal was dependent on the Schlecks & Cancellara?

    Andy
Would it be too machiavellian to wonder whether someone associated with the team set him up?

    Frank: Hog, where's my wonga.
Hog: Payment en-route, here's your recup.

    Upset :(

Edit. I was pondering that post for a while, so I wasn't jumping on wagon.

lets wait and see how this pans out in the next few days. Least this has been announced at the time unlike with Contador when it wasn't in the open until the press leaked it.

If he's using this to mask doping then surely it should be a two year ban. As others have said if he is doping and can only perform like he has he should get his money back.

Not defending him but I am a bit disappointed in this. I was always a bit of a fan of Frank certainly more than his brother.

however there has been a wiff about him for some time.

And I also agree other pro cyclists should be outspoken, however they probably need to be sure there isn't some form of good explanation first (not that I think there is).

Would you all be so gleeful if it were Wiggins or Cavendish or Evans?
    .

Sure, but they have clean reps.

I don't think many people who pay attention figured he was.

And as bad as this is, and let's face it, it's pretty bad (especially, from a British perspective, because the whole of Britian is paying attention for a change), it's always better catching a cheater than not, right?

  • In some instances some people say they are surprised but not shocked.

In this case I am neither.

Obvious as a fist to the face. I didn't really care when he was racing his brother and Contador, but as the peloton is cleaning up - doping is increasingly becoming a more unforgivable crime.

Interesting angle with those who suggested that his team could of set him up. Next few days should be exciting.

Love how over the last couple of years whenever I've hated on the schlecks most on here were quick to put me in my place, often using my fandom of Bertie to their advantage, and now those same people are in this thread calling them out like they disliked them all along. Lets be honest, they have always just been good at not getting caught, the only riding like the greatest cyclists on earth for 3 weeks a year has always been a bit of a giveaway...

I think it is kind of funny. People are concerned that Froome and the SKY boys are ET, yet the underachievers of RSNT return a positive.

As was stated in a different thread -- the Schlecks really do suck.

    Radioshack is feeling gravity's pull...sweet.

How long does a diuretic stay in the system? Seems an odd time to dope on a pretty flat stage won by Greipel or was it left over from stage 12 which had 2 cat 1 climbs?

    Just wondering.

Either way he's a dumb ASS!

Actually the entire team has withdrawn from the race.
I don't think they have. At least I haven't seen that said anywhere.

This made me despair when I read it, not unexpected but so disappointing. Just when the UK media where starting to cover cycling in a positive light as well.

Mrs is out tonight so after putting baby to bed i've spent all evening in my office listening to music and trying not to think about it. Tomorrow I will hopefully get a reminder as to why I love the sport.

Indeed. You did mention you'd ridden it, once or twice

I'm going to "work from home" tomorrow PM, one of the few perks of being your own boss.

Hopefully it will be a good'un. Nibali has said he's going to try something at least, I imagine Evans will as well if he's got anything in the legs. I don't think we'll see the race turned on its head, but hopefully it won't be for lack of trying.

Yeah, apparently. We'll have to see how this one pans out. It might be another Kolobnev.

You must admit that 'Fandom of Bertie' does make it a little difficult for you to call out the activities of other dopers and be taken seriously?

I had one of them red bikes but I don't any more. Sad face.

I'd love this "positive test" to be a Golden Handshake provided by The Prince Of Darkness himself, Mr Bruyneel.
Schreks were going to strip out the Radioshack Team Bus, Staff, equipment, bikes and anything else not tied down like they did when they left Riis' Team. The new German based Team, the Shreks had help create, already looks compromised with this test. The Shreks had done thier last rides for Bruyneel and this Doping Issue is a great kick up the @rse for the dynamic duo.

Just a wee thing saying that Mr Di Gregorio wasn't going great guns when he was hauled up for drugs.

Yeah, they'll probably rustle up a doctor's note from somewhere...although the quotes given tonight by people who should be in the know suggest there aren't any conditions or ailments that might require the diuretic. And if you were F Schleck and had a genuine excuse, you'd want to start telling people about it pretty quickly.

LL - I'm one of the people that have stuck up for the Schlecks this year. But, if he doped, he doped. And if he didn't dope, but used a diaretic and gets off on a Kolobnev, well the association previously with Fuentes is bad. And for Andy it is bad. And for the fact they were bringing in a new sponsor is bad.

Think the spiking theories are fanciful - mind you, I think the Sky bus is a happy positive place united behind Wiggo, that Cadel and Tejay are the best of mates and the peloton love little Tommy V.

Obviously happy that the testing is working, sad that there is another positive and not entirely convinced that this is going to play out satisfactorily (ie clear cut decision one way or another). At least he doesn't have a load of wins that are going to be wiped out by this a la Contador...!

He's claiming he was poisoned. How pathetic is it that the Luxembourg Anti-Doping Agency will buy that lame excuse and let him off free like they did with Operation Puerto?
