Get with it man! In that London they've been using 'casquette' instead of 'cap' for at least six months!
It's so pretentious. I nearly choked when taking a swig from my bidon when I first read the word 'casquette'.
As for the show, it needs to get better, fast.+++++++++++++++++++++

Pretty unanimous then, now imagine what non-bikers must've thought!0

A bit dull and lifeless. Good to see Gary and Graeme, but I wouldn't say either of them came across as being great speakers, but I'm sure they had interesting stuff to say.
The most interesting conversation on the whole programme was with Graeme Obree.
Unfortunately I wouldn't say Graeme was the best speaker and the presenter didn't really follow up (or even seem to listen) to what he was saying - the presenter just seemed to put a serious face on and nodded his head, before switching to the other lively guests.
I think the bottom line seems to be that the presenters need to realise they are not interviewing celebrates in the traditional sense who are searching for fame, but people who may shy away from the camera, but have some really insightful things to say (and they need to know the best way to extract it).Simon0 -

Oh don't worry - we've found out about casquettes but we'd never dream of using such a daftly pretentious term for a plain old cap!
Ohhhhhh
On Ilkla Moor baht casquette,
On Ilkla Moor baht casquette,
On Ilkla Moor baht casquette..........Faster than a tent.......0 -

Known about them for years but in the past the only people to wear them whilst not actually riding a bike were overweight, seedy looking New York - Italian taxi drivers in Holywood films0 -
Very very disappointing. A missed opportunity.
Some of it down to low budget and low production values but mostly it just wasn't very good. I'll give it a few more goes, hope it gets better.
While I go there now and then, and like the place, putting it in Look Mum No Hands did not really work. Crap background, noisy, and a bit 'so what' unless you know what it is. The fixie hipster scene that goes on there isn't to everyone's tastes either.0 -
The show needs an extra half hour to spotlight some actual cyclists, and tell stories about how they got into it, about their lives and why they thinking cycling is fantastic. It needs to make the viewer empathise with those people so that cyclists arent viewed as a different species.
Do most people even know Graham Obrees story? Wildly eccentric, jittery as hell, boundary pushing Olympian, attempted suicide, jam sandwich aficionado .. but none of that interesting stuff was mentioned.
What about Mansell .. if I didn't already know he sponsors (or owns?) Team UK Youth, i don't think I'd really have know why he was even there.
And as someone else mentioned .. you only have to look at Gary Fischer to know that he'd have plenty of stories to tell given more than 30 seconds to do so.
The timing of the show between the tour and during the Olympics means they'll never actually get the likes of Wiggo or Pendelton on the show, as they'll be too busy with their own training and engagements.
I'll continue watching as I love cycling, but I was fairly underwhelmed. All the above is just advice .. you can do whatever the f*ck you wana do!

Absolute guff though the show is, it does show how a broader interest in cycling is growing and how it's perhaps only a matter of time before one of the sports channels creates a better version.
It will give us all something to laugh about every Tuesday too.0 -

is that a new series?!?!
I remember that was on a few years ago.. used to love it!0 -
I wish I could hunt Chris Ryan. With that missile launcher sue barker uses to get that go compare guy
That'd be a good, if brief, series. :-)0 -
Just pleased to see any thing to do with general cycling on T.V, perhaps the people with negative views should give it a chance or turn over.2014 Ribble Gran Fondo

Better this week. Liked the item about Bikefit. Not perfect but getting there.0

Much better this week, but then how could you complain about any show that allows the audience (and was that former Clothes Show presenter Jeff Banks in the audience?) to interview Eddy Merckx!0

I thought it was ok this week. Nreds am extra 30 mins, more reviews focus on the sport/racing. I'll watch again

It's getting an extra 30 mins from show 4-- Dirk Hofman Motorhomes --0

Terrible, rubbish godawful. Three questions or so for Merckx while some aging pop star waffled on about how he got into cycling because of the stylee? clothes.
And those were the high points.I don't do smileys.

Oh dear. Not very good at all.
Sally has a bike. Sally has a bike fitting. Her position is different after the fitting. End of story. We never find out from Sally what she thinks of blowing her hard-earned on a bike fit. Pointless!0 -
-
Sally had a bike fitting, nice bike that.
The bloody ex. pop star Gary Kemp going on about the 'clothing', 'I got to get in that gang' - jesus, give us some real cyclists please.
Otherwise it wasn't too bad, but ditch the pointless guests please.0 -
It's meant to be entertainment. Someone compared it to 'Top Gear' and I know what they mean. Having a load of cycling 'nevercouldhavebeens' sitting there asking Merckx about his tyre pressures isn't going to work for a general audience. Getting a 'famous' person to talk about why they cycle is more entertaining at 8pm. The AdH article was good, the bikefit could have been better presented but the show only has 30 mins incl. commercialsM.Rushton0

An improvement I thought. I guess the idea of celebs on bikes is aimed at getting their fans on bikes which can't be bad - its still man heavy - have never heard of the Girls in threads.....oh and no mention of eccles cakes. The dissenter is every human being at those moments of his life when he resigns

If anyone out there has the cash to produce a hugely appealing cycling show that would interest cyclists and potential cyclist alike .. they sign up the Hairy Bikers to a 1-2 year contract where they tour the country on road bikes instead of motorcycles. We can follow them to interesting places you'd only see on a bikes, they'd be aiming to drop about 20st combined, showing how to prep and eat delicious healthy food, have to get good bike fit and training for all that mileage, review their gear and perhaps show them suffering a bit as well! © Dave W - 2012All the above is just advice .. you can do whatever the f*ck you wana do!

Being honest, just what could we have expected of it? It's a mass-market peak time evening schedule (but buried on a minor channel) prog dealing generically with a mode of transport / hobby / entertainment.
I can't imagine them doing things that would interest me:
* How quick can a middle aged bloke on a bike go in a rural setting, and for how long can he sustain that speed?
* How can such a man get to be tons faster whilst maintaining a similar wine intake?
* Isn't the <insert my/your bike's make & model here> great? Just look at it. Great isn't it?
* How good is Di2?
* How quickly could a pro-rider do my actual commute?
* What's the best way to get my point across to the muppet who just cut me up on the Tesco roundabout? Am I allowed to arm myself for such eventualities?
* Can a group of cheerleaders in proper cheer-leading kit and led by my chum from the Project Office be lined up to cheer my arrival at work when I've beaten the hour commute?
And then wider things:
* What does Wiggo have for breakfast?
* A specially extended 2 hour show with Boardman & Millar talking race, with Ned B asking the questions.
etc.
As soon as they do the worthy stuff like safety, kit etc I'd rather watch an old Blue Peter instead. Same tbh if they wander off to MTB, cyclo-cross or Youtube clips that are 'funny' or 'zany'. Thanks but I've got an internet at home where I watch that stuff in my own time if I want to (I don't). Point is that for all the joy that cycling brings (to me), I have a very narrow outlook on which bits of it are fun. The rest is too dull to watch. Most others are in the same boat, ergo they're producing a show that can't appeal to all cyclists as all cyclists doesn't exist. Each cyclist wants it to be aimed squarely at him. Or her. Who knows?0 -
garrynolan wrote:Saw this weeks show. Should be 60 mins long to complete the stories (as above, what did the girl think about the bike fit? , more questions to Merkx etc.). definitely has promise but an opportunity lost at the moment...
As of 13/08 it will be 60 minutes long.I've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0 -
i agree with cib it would be nice to see a few items of tech. You only have to look at the beginners section on here to see theres a need for advice. The dissenter is every human being at those moments of his life when he resigns

Yes the show has faults but as it'd the only show we need to behind it and feedback what we want to show. It's popular liar entertainment so it won't appeal to everyone all of the time AndyEvidently i mostly have a FCN of 1. I'm now a lady!0

Now this I would watch, especially the bit 'A Pro does your Commute'. Perhaps we could have star on a reasonably priced fixie around a velodrome especially if at Herne Hill, in the rain.
I'd like an in depth interview with Pro's from all walks of the cycling world for 10 minutes with questions composed from a longer interview.
Maintenance section on things like BB strips in HD.
Magazine feature on things like why do Pro's dope (did they ask Mercxx by chance?).
Set of Fred's get given pro level coaching to fit around their jobs and then are unleashed on the BMX,MTB,CycloCross,Track and road racing with their progress filmed.
Could you be Dave Brailsford? - Volunteers get their head shaved and drive around in big black bus and pass on training tips to commuters.
Heores of yesteryear - interviews with Ian Steele, Colin Lewis, etc.
Just my suggestions.+++++++++++++++++++++
