Good on her mate, is she going to buy a bike now then?

Maybe after a few more episodes!

Being an hour long was an improvement, it gave the articles more space to breathe. But why have 2 shots at the not very good and a bit naff bike race on rollers thing?

I really hated the colour grading, the sky and all the hi-lites were light brown, why?

An there's something not right about a grown up wanting to improve their BMX skills.

I wonder what the guy behind was having for his tea? It looked quite tasty. :D I hope they have something about London on next week - it must be feeling left out.

He had one of their salads ;) How do I know I was sat not that far away from him. Had a brief chat with Rik Waddon and he was genuinely nice bloke.

Go back and get into the background of a shot with a t-shirt that says, "Hi Cake Stop!" on it.

Haha I do not hail from London. We were just in there to watch the MTB Olympic Race when we were visiting and they were filming. That would be a good idea though
  • It is better for being an 'hour' (44mins?) but the location is a distraction with a disruptive background making clarity difficult. Maybe they are finding out what works? Ned Boulting was clearly better than the other presenters and that rather points up the problem with the programme, must try harder, or not :?

The amateurish look is contributed to by the total absence of television lighting, and camera filters.

I think the discolouration in the outdoor shots is either on purpose, ie. they've coloured the blown highlights and shadows; or inadvertent, ie. it could be just how the automatic processing of the video is handled by default if they don't do any post production.

If the dynamic range of the cameras is poor, or simply can't handle the huge contrast outdoors, you should be using filters on the camera to reduce the light from the sky (very noticeable and stylised in Top Gear), or lighting the subjects better. But it appears there is no lighting in the cafe .. so it just looks like something Joe Bloggs could do on his cameraphone.

Watched the new 44 minute version last night and it was sooooooo much better, not just because Ned was on, the whole thing had a more relaxed feel, not trying too hard, not trying to fit too much into the 2 x 12 minutes. Much better. Still room for improvement, but I could almost look forward to the next show.

Saw a request for 'extras' for the show on a local clubs Facebook page. They're looking for people to attend a maintenance course that is being filmed for the show (this week?) Look out for some black and pink club shirts.

Just caught up with last Monday's show and it really was much better. Echoing all that's been said before really - Anna is rubbish, Ned was great and an hour suits it much better

Looking forward to Lizzie Armistead and Dani King next week

Exactly the same for me; watched it today and was quite pleased with it how it is developing. It's not perfect - but then I recall Top Gear when William Woollard was the main presenter, and look how good it is now ... oh wait, I got that wrong didn't I.

Seriously, though, it is improving, it will get there eventually. I was impressed with Rik Waddon, looking forward to seeing him on the track at the paralymics too. They need to consider something outside of London, though, as cyclists do exist outside of the M25 too, we even have some cycle lanes in Manchester you know!

    +1

Seeing her ride down to the shops on it was quite embarrassing.

She's a dreadful (and very ugly) presenter too.
  • for one minute there as she was plying bike hockey i'm sure I caught a glimpse of her penis. :D

Longer is better. Now all they need to do is decide whether they want it to be a 'magazine' programme (this week's news and discussion topics) or 'features'.

Top Gear, like it or not, does the mix very well: 20 mins or so is filmed on the Wednesday before the Sunday broadcast (10 mins news, the star in a car, and the lead-in/out for the videos) and the rest is already in the can.

At the moment it still feels like they're trying to decide whether to be a consumer programme, keep the enthusiasts interested, or what. Let's face it, all the WAGs will turn off if there's a 10-minute exposé of how the Campag/Shimano electronic groupsets work, but if they don't stop talking in such noddy terms about everything everyone else will turn off anyway.

Oh, and I'm sure the "cycling buddy" website is a great idea, but the bloke in the orange top they brought on to demonstrate what nice, normal people you could meet? Underlined every terrible stereotype of why non-cyclists think we're all a bit weird. Brown tinted glasses, too eager, "I've communicated with a few local riders but haven't been out with any yet unfortunately..." Probably because you look and sounds like you're on some sort of register.

Last night's guests were great - Lizzie Armitstead and Dani King - and gave an intelligent, enthusiastic and informative insight into their respective professional lives.
Jeff Banks likes the sound of his own voice but does speak from experience and is putting something back into the sport, and spelt out just how little it would cost business people to help out financially with a sports club.

The programme varies a lot each week but if you watch it on catch-up you can ff the bits you don't like.
  • I quite enjoyed last nights prog. The consumer bike test wasn't bad and could be regular feature, nowt too in depth though it would be a turn off for some.

The subject matter in last nights show was better, but it's still amateurish, and presented by people who look and sound like that have been told to take part in a role playing exercise by their line manager to learn how to sell double glazing.

It is without a single shadow of a doubt a truly awful programme. A good idea, executed badly by idiots.

I couldn't agree more .. bring a young fella that looks like he should be on a boy band, that way some more young ladies might take the sport up .. nowaimsayin?! It was retarded to bring someone who hadn't really used the site as such. I had the laptop on my knee while watching that, but ended up I didn't bother even searching that site.

I'm still watching the show. Yes, it could be better but hey ho. Definitely better in the longer format (much more relaxed viewing rather than the frantic blip-vert nonsense of the first few shows).

Rob Hayles. Really want to like the bloke but surely they have to realise at some point that people don't want to watch an expert...they want to watch an entertaining expert. Hayles has all the charisma of a wet blanket.

I also found it a bit strange that they got someone on to talk about the cyclebuddy website...who hadn't actually been out for a ride yet. With experience like that, he could be on here like us armchair experts!

This made me LOL. Worst piece of promotion ever! I was just thinking, 'Hey, that's not a bad idea. Might be worth a go,' as I work irregular hours and have no time to join a club, but then they turned to Fred West and I thought, 'Er, perhaps not...'

    The show's getting better.

Instead of 30 minutes of a truly dreadful programme we now have 60 minutes! It's so badly made and amateurish, it would be better just to watch a blank screen.

The presenter has no idea what he is doing, that young girl can't speak English or wear clothes very well, or wash her hair it seems and the producers seem to have no idea what cycling is all about. It seems to me that no research has gone into the programme at all, and the only reason that it gets aired at all is because Chain Reaction paid for it. No self respecting TV company would make such unadulterated rubbish with ther own money.

The people in the background are distracting and irritating, the editing and camera work is all a bit THE BILL from the 1980's and the way they approch subjects they cover is condescending.

And why the flippity blumen blasty 'eck do the put cameras on the handle bars looking up a presenters nose? Who the hell thought that was a good idea?

It is a truly awful piece of programming, and looks as though it has been made with no thought of the audience and what they may be interested in, it was made for the production company and the sponsors, for their own self serving benefit, if another series gets made I'll be very suprised.

Yet it seems like you watched the whole thing
