Took a sneaky day off to head out on a solo 100miler. Weather looks good hope it holds!0
-
Did 30 miles on my way home after nightshift - colder than it looks out there!0

I've taken a few days off the bike since Saturday, my dodgy lower back has been flaring up recently. So just running and weight training so far this week. Looking forward to a Phoenix bun run tomorrow though.
Good luck for the century!0 -
Madigans Torr Head run next Sunday, always a good one to finish the cycle season for those who havent tried it....

cheers dude fell apart at 85ish and hobbled home to a 98mile/17.1mph finish. knackered. Funny I seen Torr Head today, looked menacing even from a distance. Not sure how I made it over last year lol.0 -
I was out on Tuesday and I really struggled to say the least. Hope to get a few miles in tomorrow. Hope I feel better. Going to be a harsh winter I recon.
Time to dust down the Mountain bike (oops thers £5 into the swear box) and hit a few trails.
Thinking of heading to Larne and cycling to Ballycastle via Torr head and back to Larne in the not to distant future. Should be a nice run if I can manage to hit it on a nice day.0 -
Paul, did the same on my first century a few months ago. Made it back to my house at the 97 mile mark so did three laps of Victoria Park - out of the saddle the whole way cause my hams/glutes were freaking killing me! Good average BTW.
My Phoenix club run overran today - 87 miles rather than the usual 58ish. Ran out of food/drink so tough coming back over Hannahstown Road. Still managed to PB the Upper Springfield Road descent.0 -
cheers dude, its not my first century but my first solo one. Even without any major hills (only 1900ft of climbs) it was tough with no support from a group. Beats work though lol.0

Bit windy out there the last few days - but obviously in no way did I use that to my advantage on some East-West Strava segments yesterday... :twisted:0

It's was! That was my first time, although I memorised the mileages for start and finish of climbs, which helped a lot. Got some 6th places on some Strava sections. I wasnt one of the fastest on the individual climbs, but was fast through the area overall. All the above is just advice .. you can do whatever the f*ck you wana do!

No Torr Head, the wimps!
They think they got bad weather this year wait until they see one of our summer days.
I think half of Northern Ireland has applied for their leave already.0 -

There's only two people in my unit, and the other is also a cyclist. Someone's gonna lose out!
Let's hope this business with the race director being suspended doesn't affect the start.
And let's hope there's no fleg protests!0 -

Well, Fleg protestors normally get their giro on a Wednesday or Thursday.0

Is there a detailed route map of the Armagh-Dublin stage yet?0

The most detailed maps I found were on from the NITB site: http://www.nitb.com/BusinessSupport/2012-2014Events/GirodItalia2014.aspx
That was Monday though so there may be more out there by now.
There are also some people's interpretation of the routes up on Garmin Connect - how correct these are is anybody's guess, but here's my version... :?

The maps on the NITB website are the official Giro ones.CAAD9

There's bound to be a sportive (or Gran Fondo to be accurate) over the route.

Yup, I do indeed! Again I don't know how accurate it is in the cities but the rest should be pretty close. :?

This is close to what I have worked out. In mine I ave it going right to the end of Ballybogy Rd and then turning right to Dunluce Castle. From Titanic Qtr to near top of Antrim Rd looks like its neutralised.CAAD9
