For doping during the comeback. That's new too

So, could his 3rd place in 2010 TDF get stripped? Does Wiggo get presented with a big number 3 with an asterix next to it in some low key ceremony in a car park sometime next year?

I had one of them red bikes but I don't any more. Sad face.

Can't help wondering if some of the current Radioshack problems stem from this.

Hincapies Retirement yesterday. Andy Schleck will not ride the tour as of today. Stinks.

ok, ok, stretching it a bit.

Yep, finally got the Wash Post page to open. Dodgy values from 2009/2010 is a biggie.

"Immediately banned from competition". Pretty historic words those.

Well, obviously not, because the USADA are saying he's effectively failed tests.

Looks more like blood data analysis than a failed test to me.
blood samples from Armstrong in 2009 and 2010 that were “fully consistent with blood manipulation including EPO use and/or blood transfusions.”

You need a seriously high level of probability to actually trigger action based on the blood passport (think it's something like a 1/1000 probability on three occasions - the sports scientists site has the actual figures...)

But if you've got witness testimony then you could probably use a lower figure as corroborative evidence.

So putting two and two together and making a radical guess that the answer is somewhere in the region of four:

USADA got given the files from the grand jury they asked for. USADA looked at the blood passport values. USADA talked to a lot of lawyers. USADA charged him.

    Lance's official response:

Lance Armstrong Responds to USADA Allegation

AUSTIN, TX -- June 13, 2012 -- I have been notified that USADA, an organization largely funded by taxpayer dollars but governed only by self-written rules, intends to again dredge up discredited allegations dating back more than 16 years to prevent me from competing as a triathlete and try and strip me of the seven Tour de France victories I earned. These are the very same charges and the same witnesses that the Justice Department chose not to pursue after a two-year investigation. These charges are baseless, motivated by spite and advanced through testimony bought and paid for by promises of anonymity and immunity. Although USADA alleges a wide-ranging conspiracy extended over more than 16 years, I am the only athlete it has chosen to charge. USADA’s malice, its methods, its star-chamber practices, and its decision to punish first and adjudicate later all are at odds with our ideals of fairness and fair play.

I have never doped, and, unlike many of my accusers, I have competed as an endurance athlete for 25 years with no spike in performance, passed more than 500 drug tests and never failed one. That USADA ignores this fundamental distinction and charges me instead of the admitted dopers says far more about USADA, its lack of fairness and this vendetta than it does about my guilt or innocence.

Getting him for 2009 / 2010 is fascinating. Remember all the talk he was trying to do it clean.

Meanwhile, continued working with The Myth, and same old tricks.

So how come USADA are only taking action now if they collected incriminating samples in 2009-10? Are they just as incompetent and crooked as the UCI?

EDIT: Damn, somewhere got there before me, oh well.

The reason being they were waiting for the Federal investigation to conclude. They were also supplied information from this investigation.
