Anyway happy birthday, Christmas and all other festivals rolled into one for BikingBernie.

Lance Armstrong Responds to USADA Allegation

AUSTIN, TX -- June 13, 2012 -- I have been notified that USADA, an organization largely funded by taxpayer dollars but governed only by self-written rules, intends to again dredge up discredited allegations dating back more than 16 years to prevent me from competing as a triathlete and try and strip me of the seven Tour de France victories I earned. These are the very same charges and the same witnesses that the Justice Department chose not to pursue after a two-year investigation. These charges are baseless, motivated by spite and advanced through testimony bought and paid for by promises of anonymity and immunity. Although USADA alleges a wide-ranging conspiracy extended over more than 16 years, I am the only athlete it has chosen to charge. USADA’s malice, its methods, its star-chamber practices, and its decision to punish first and adjudicate later all are at odds with our ideals of fairness and fair play.

I have never doped, and, unlike many of my accusers, I have competed as an endurance athlete for 25 years with no spike in performance, passed more than 500 drug tests and never failed one. That USADA ignores this fundamental distinction and charges me instead of the admitted dopers says far more about USADA, its lack of fairness and this vendetta than it does about my guilt or innocence.

I'm sure you guys have 'debated' LA for years now and know more than I ever will or am really bother to learn.

But I can't help thinking the reputations of Lance accusers undermine their evidence.

But if Hincapie speaks out, I think that's what they call a game changer.....

So Hincapie is retiring you say?

The whole Lance doping thing is like one of those villains in a cheap horror movie. You know, the ones that just won't die.

Getting him for 2009 / 2010 is fascinating. Remember all the talk he was trying to do it clean.

Meanwhile, continued working with The Myth, and same old tricks.

I was going to call it the "Biking Bernie Wet Dream Thread" but thought better of it

I couldn't give a toss whether or not they strip him of his TDF titles, but I must admit I was looking forward to seeing what he could do in an Ironman

Well, obviously not, because the USADA are saying he's effectively failed tests.

Finally, Pro-race might have a thread with a page count to compete with Girls in Lycra.

USADA is slightly suspect for just now bringing out these allegations of doping in 2009 and 2010 but nothing during his 7 Tour wins. Took them 2+ years to study his blood and write a 15 page paper...suspect.

So how come USADA are only taking action now if they collected incriminating samples in 2009-10? Are they just as incompetent and crooked as the UCI?

EDIT: Damn, somewhere got there before me, oh well.

I had thought that was in relation to 2010, largely as an explanation of why he went so poorly. We already had the evidence that he was blood doping in 2009. Yes the famous graph!

    Riiiight

Did the have the level of blood for analysis back then? No. If he was doing itin 09 it tells the believers all they need to know

    Bernie Bingo!

If he was on the juice in 2009/10 it must have been a bad batch compared to the earlier vintages.

P.s I have just one hope in relation to this, other than Armstrong will have an 'asterisk' added alongside each of his Tour 'wins'. That the truth about the corruption within the UCI that allowed Armstrong to get away with this for so long, as their pet protected rider, will also come out.

The article mentioned a conspiracy involving Bruyneel running up to 2012. I wonder if this includes the current team - Schlecks, Cancellara et al, or whether it stops before the merger.

Can't help wondering if some of the current Radioshack problems stem from this.

Hincapies Retirement yesterday. Andy Schleck will not ride the tour as of today. Stinks.

Still trying to catch up here. Has anything new been stated/hinted/alleged?
