Crudcatcher Weekend Ride - Inners/GT - 27/28/29 Jul

As an occasional crud contributor, can I join this? Sounds great.
I haven't got enough hols left to take Friday off, but can be up there by about 7ish on the Friday evening - does that fit?
I'll be travelling up from South Manchester.
Pretty average rider with more enthusiasm than skill - does that fit as well?0 -
New faces are always welcome. More important than any sort of skill is an ability to handle cruddy humour.
And a certain tolerance to chloroform just in case Gaz is lurking around in the woods.0 -

Cheers - In that case, count me in then please - I can usually be relied upon for dumb moments (I was blonde when I was younger) and always enjoy a bit of banter
As earlier, I'll be travelling up from South Manchester so if there's anybody that needs a lift from around here (or anywhere en-route) just let me know.
I'm, obviously, more than happy to make the charity donation mentioned but what else will I owe?
Mark0 -
You'll not owe anything else.
Bring money for beers, bacons and bbq, and possibly an uplift or 2 if that's your thing.0 -
Superb!!
I can bring up the BBQ food (from my local butcher - they do some superb burgers, kebabs & marinated chicken portions) if it'll help.
I'll let some other Alpha Male play with fire & cook the BBQ - even though I'll be stood over it saying "You don't wanna do it like that, you wanna do it like this"0 -
Quite shocked there are not more people wanting a free holiday if I'm honest.0
-
It's 2 nights actually.
Better to beg for forgiveness than ask for permission!0 -

Me too!! Bump for the Friday evening crew.0 -

Crap, forgot to investigate this.
The missus is in a "if you want to do it, then do it" mood at the moment, so a long weekend should be cool.
I'll carve it into my forehead so I remember to check today!0 -
I had been planning on coming over with a couple of my mates on the Saturday (I only stay about an hour away) and was considering camping overnight at Glentress itself but unfortunately my mate has broken his arm and is likely still to be out of action. Will still be there for one of the days at least.Attention all planets of the Solar Federation - We have assumed control.0
-
Bails - Get on it fella!
So far, the frontrunners accommodation-wise are:
Glentress Forest Lodges - Cool looking wigwams right on Glentress. Depending on numbers, I'd probably get a couple of them so we're not crammed in together.
Innerhaven - Nice looking little cottage right on the trails at inners. Owners can sort out meals and also shuttles to various places. Max of 6 people though.
Kailzie Bunkhouses - Inbetween GT and Inners. We'd probably end up sharing with another group or 2 (it's a big place, lots of seperate bunkhouses), but it's just more riding buddies.
The Bike Lodge - Very bike friendly accommodation right in the middle of Innerleithen village. For up-to 8
If anyone has any other ideas, shout up.0 -
Personally, I think the wigwams would be the best choice, but only if the weather was as nice as it has been of late.
1st alternative is The bike lodge though I reckon.
Also, just a reminder to all those planning to come along.
REMEMBER TO PACK THE AVON SKIN SO SOFT or you'll be murdered to death by midges the size of a family car.0 -
-
The Innerhaven cottage looks lovely but probably more suited to a weekend away with the mrs, rather than a bunch of dirty, smelly MTBers!!
My favourites would be The Kailzie Bunkhouses or The Bike Lodge but they all look good.
CWNT - your decision.
Won't Eau de Stella Artois keep the midges away? It's usually oozing out of the pores by Sunday morning!0 -
How the fark did I miss this?! Free holiday?! If there's still space and if I can scav a lift up there I'm in for sure!!0
-
Sorted
Hoping to book up by this time next week, so if anyone else is interested, now's the time to confirm.0 -
Hold the phone CWNT, I'm getting clearance for the weekend. I'll know by tonight/tomorrow and post up soon enough.

For what it's worth, you'll be absolutely grand in a Wigwam. Spent a long weekend in one in Galloway near to Christmas last year - it was about -10 outside during the day, so feck knows what it was at night - but the Wigwam was plenty warm.

Right.......
Now that the ride is almost sorted. Who needs a lift? and can we cut down / share costs on getting there.
I'm quite happy putting 4 bikes on the car ( possibly 5 if we put one inside and I chuck the roof box on).
So who is coming from where and can we meet up to arrange ?
Any thoughts?I'm going to blow the bank on a new build ( within reason ) NOW DONE!!

flyingmonkeycorps That you Will? Not seen that username in a long time!
I'm coming from Leeds, and can fit 2 bikes on the car and it seats 5 people. I can guarantee that at least one bike will make it to Scotland. The second bike will have a 95%, as CWNT can testify (he was lucky and it survived).
I am of course joking, both bikes will be fine.It takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

Right, that's it now. List currently stands at 10 victims, sorry, riders.
Accommodation currently looks like it's going to come in the form of 2 x wigwams (tbc later in the week) which will be paid for entirely by me.
Anyone wishing to contribute can do so by making a (purely voulentary) donation to the cardiomyopathy charity we picked for Kaise in their own time.
Early stage plans are that those who are interested in doing so will arrange to meet up on Friday at some point for a ride. At this point not sure if it's going to be a ride in England or Scotland, natural or trail centre etc. So suggestions for where we should meet are welcome.0 -

If you get others from Sheffield, or nearby, no worries, I can be an extra vehicle. If you can fit me, I'll happily contribute some monies for petrol I'm taking the whole week off work, so anytime on Friday is good for me.It takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

Hey Keith, yup 'tis I! How's tricks? This trip sounds awesome, I'm a little bit jealous!
We live in the unhappy shadows of skyscrapers freight trains and malls0

Forgot to reply to Richie's post - whoops.
I'll be travelling up from South Manchester (notice the way I avoided saying Cheshire as that sounds a bit too fake-tan  ) on the Friday afternoon / evening (as soon as I can get away from work).
Got a tow-ball mounted 2-bike carrier and lots of room, so if anyone else's coming from this neck-of-the-woods I can give them a lift.
Jealous that I won't be able to join the rest of you for the ride on the way up, but we'll probably get to the Tee-Pees at about the same time? Must avoid making non-PC jokes about being dressed as a Red Indian making smoke-signals...0
