A bit of a late post from me but i rode Long Mynd on wednesday. I'll be camping up there next time though as the drive there and back, plus the ride was knackering.
I don't know enough to make smart r's remarks about peoples choice of parts 'n' things, yet!

Some local muddy, flooded bridleways! It was fun trying to stay on the bike :)

Bike Park Wales on the Scalp today. A whole day riding Enter The Dragon. All good fun until I hit the big step down gap and narrowly missed people (slack jawed idiots) stood on the landing and broke four spokes in the process and flat spotted my rear rim.

Loop up the local hills, went a bit further and rode a bit i've never done before, was decent, must've been 20 - 25 degrees, not too much wind, good riding conditions, probably about 30 miles, glad I came back to the house and the bbq was already on!

Chain snapping was a bit annoying, but had the chain tool so 2 minute fix.

    Hi All.

Lovely day out today if it was all up and rather warm and sweaty, left home after around a hour later and 1100 feet higher it was time for a little break and a quick pic.

As I carried on and still going up a forced stop with a puncture  I hate punctures but the view was quite good.

Looooooong climb to a loooooon descent - fast and flowing with a number of small steps into more tech style singletrack - Babylon by Bike and Tunnel Vision, if you know Whistler at all - hadn't done Babylon before and it was a disappointment vs See Colours and Puke which starts from the same point - mental note made.

  • Took the dales rail to Horeton in Ribblesdale and road around Pen Y Ghent followed by the Settle loop before de-camping back to the pub in Settle and the return train journey. Really good, but long day out.

For anyone that lives Blackpool/Poulton/Preston/Blackburn/Clitheroe then the dales rail is well worth checking out. Gives loads of options for some great riding.

Not today, but Sunday - still recovering! Rode up to Burnley, and then over the moors through Thursden back to Hebden - was tough going for me!

Did the classic north wales two lakes ride, but with some exploring in the middle, found some super steep tech trails in the woods down to crafnant :) Chuffed.

I tired a few new trails again today - the short but sweet west side triumvirate of Rockwork Orange, Corova Milkbar and Wizard Burial Ground (can be seen in this video - http://www.pinkbike.com/news/whistler-l ... -2014.html) Needless to say my Strava times were not as quick as the guy in the video. Some sweet rock rolls and tech gnar. Loved it and wearing a series of bruises and grazes now!

Did Penmachno full loop today. First time I've done two big(ish) mtb rides on the trot in ages, so my hands are ruined!

Feel rather out of place here but I recorded some footage of a local blue track, still a newcomer to mountain biking though.

Awesome days riding today - old riding buddy from UK on hols with his family had a day off so we hit some trails along with a couple of his friends who also happened to be in town. Guide hat on we tootled up Yummy Numby and gorged ourselves on sunshine, dry trails, roots, rock rolls and ladders - cleaned a whole load of stuff I hadn't before as I was lead gun and didn't want to look weak!

Then we headed to some nice singletrack I hadn't done in a while followed by the Whistler classic, River Runs Through it, where I was challenged to ride more of the elevated wood than I normally would - including the raised double teeter totter - smashed it without smashing myself - smiles!

Followed up with a couple of pints and a nice bite in the sun. Riding with 2 of the three tomorrow with a little Westside tech singletrack tour. How's that for a slice of fried gold?

Went to FOD today for a little muck around on my way back from some business stuff down in bath. Awesome ride, dusty trails! Had a go at the trail that was stage 1 and 4 at the mini enduro a few months back and it couldn't be more different! I'm almost glad I was racing it in the wet, because it was scary fast in the dry!

First time around Dalby forest. Quite an effort to do the full red loop (took us about 5 hours), but some great sections to be found. Only down point of the day was arriving at Dixon's Hollow to see a group of paramedics on the track around someone. Fortunately she wasn't too badly hurt - dislocated shoulder (so not great, but not horrific), turns out she'd never done any skills stuff, got onto the first tabletop and, thinking she was going too fast, slammed the front brake on right at the lip of the drop. Over the handlebars and down to the bottom. Ouch.

So then of course we decided to have a crack at it; we'd never tackled a skills area before either, but figured seeing as the medics were already there it was the best time to try :D (we did fine, no crashing)

First time off road yesterday in two months after a fractured shoulder and torn rotator cuff ligaments. Only firetrack and gentle singletrack, just rolling down any more tricky, bumpy decents but the shoulder held up and it made my weekend :-) :-)

I tootled up to the Westside and hit Cheap Thrills, 99er and then quick spin up the road to Danimal and Beaver pass - 500+ metres of descent in a 16km ride including getting to the base of the climb - I chucked my gopro on for the first time in ages - will take a look at the footage later and see if I can throw together a shortened highlight reel of the good stuff that I didn't fall down!

Just went and did a top to bottom on Whistler Mtn - following the Crankworx EWS course along with a bunch of the EWS riders out for a practice.

    View from top:

    IMG_2486_zps322ed798.jpg

Rode the whole thing overtaking a bunch of hacks on their triple crowns and full facers, no one came past me until, just dropping into the last short section before the village (Monkey Hands) I am just ducking into the woods when I hear a faster rider behind me, I mess up a rocky step, they catch me and I call out a quick apology before pulling to one side to allow them past. With a quick Cheers mate, three bikes whip past me - Dan Atherton and Martin Maes plus a Giant pro rider I didn't recognise. I set off in pursuit for the last 500 yards - didn't see them moving but they were at the bottom with their lids off by the time I got there!

Gave Dan a nod and a hello. He nodded back. I feel basically like we are best buddies now.

I basically did this loop on Wednesday, plus a couple of others out that way.

Tomorrow I'll do top of the world down to Ride Don't Slide, then spin over and do stages 1 & 2, then might go out and do 3 on Saturday as it's a bit of a mission.

    Big day out on Sunday!
  • First time on the road trip, i went out for 15 miles on the road bike which was effort me so i decided to do a 'tour' of the local hills.
