Decided to go ride out from the front door and hit the really local stuff. There's some really sweet bits of singletrack but they're few and far between, and a few of them are a bit cut up from horse traffic, still it was a pleasant day for riding. Just over 26 miles in total. Feeling all the better for it.

Cannock tomorrow maybe, if not then Saturday for sure, depends when I can get the car. I would pedal there but not got the fitness at the moment, bloody uni... Remember riding there this time last year, doing a lap or so and a bit and then riding back. Mostly offroad, a bit of paved towpath, really takes it out of you after a while. Getting on towards 50 miles of riding just there and back.

New Forest this evening - amazing to be setting off in daylight AND sunshine! Was in two minds whether to go after a pretty pacey ride last night too, but how often is the weather like this?!! Couldn't resist :D

  • The 'MTB' trails in Pollok Park, Glasgow. More for fitness than fun though.

Most of the 'jumps' on the trail are pretty poorly thought out, and the whole area is essentially flat. Also, the clearly-marked mountain bike trails are frequently populated by dog walkers, and there was a big pile of horse-sh*t at one point too. Still, you can squeeze some fun out if you attack it enough.

Also, there was one guy riding in a full-facer. I'm not judging, and I completely understand that we all assess how risky the trails we're going to ride are and protect ourselves accordingly, but a full-face helmet seemed a bit of an odd choice to me.

Rode to the Devils Punchbowl and Gibbets Hill in Hindhead yesterday, 25 mile route, just to see if there were any decent trails over there - found a few, so will be heading back next weekend for another look :)

Saw a few other bikers out and about, which is always a good sign!

I was considering SH, but imagined it would be heaving, so shall save there for night rides for the foreseeable future.

Took a little trip up to Kielder yesterday. My Mrs did a nice gently ride along the Lakeside Way from Kielder village up to Tower Knowe near the dam with one of our daughters while i went off to do the Lonesome Pine trail.

Conditions were perfect for the ride with a nice cool breeze. I managed to cycle all the way to the top before stopping to admire a fantastic view and some very nice trail-builder directed me down the new bit of single track at Cappon Hassock.

The new single track is still bedding down and i found my rear wheel sliding about on the loose surface but they appear to have done a great job. Its quite twisty and tight and great fun. its also in just the right place to break up a section of fire road. All i can say is more please!!

I got stuck in a bit of traffic just after i left the northshore but they were left well behind for the final descent and run back into Kielder.

Wife and kids had a good ride, so i made it home with the credit for having sorted a "grand ride out"

From there to Matterdale End up to the Old Coach road across to Threlkeld. Just did a spin round Rivington because of time constraints and me getting over cracked ribs which I banged again last sunday just as they were getting better. Did every little naughty track we could think of "honest officer I thought it was legal didnt think that barbed wire meant anything"

Local forest. Did some trailbuildng, was in a great riding mind and hitting the trails faster then ever. All fine until got back to the carpark when the rear shock decided to piss oil everywhere... Guess it doesn't like tarmac.

Made it over to the Peaks for only the second time. Started out from Fairholme and tried to ride Cut Gate, big mistake. Never ridden it before, and with pretty deep snow still sitting on the top of the moor and covering the trail it was not much fun. Turned back (because Im a pansy) about halfway to Langsett reservoir and then did Hagg Side instead just to add a bit of mileage. Wet, cold, muddy and a lot of fun.

No riding for me today but a great ride out yesterday in the lakes. Set off from Ambleside then went onto iron keild, hodge close, tilberthwaite, little langdale, elterwater and then finish off with loughrigg terrace. Considering its a bank holiday there was surprisingly few walkers about.

Nice big local loop. Trying to get my arse back in gear and did 30km with my mate. I only started this time last year and he only got back into at about the same time. Took us over two hours to crawl around Cwmcarn back then. Today we hit some local DH tracks, a trail we've built, a section of Cwmcarn and covered a ton of ground. It felt damm good. A ride to remind you why you started in the first place.

I did Lee Quarry and the first half (curtailed due to stupid wind levels) of Cragg Quarry yesterday, and am going to do red then blue at Llandegla tomorrow. Hopefully I'll get to Lee and Cragg on Saturday morning too.

Llandegla Red then Blue this afternoon. Perfect conditions. Busy car park but not that many people on the trails (or we were all going the same speed, which would be surprising as I'm pretty slow).

Rhossili down, Gower, South Wales. 22 miles, 1 cheesburger consumed, 2 horse riders spooked (sorry), 4 sheep chased, 1 mate crashed. Pissed down, love it.

Nice to do a bit of oldschool xc once in a while...

I did 30km around Rivington and Darwen again. Good conditions and more unexplored territory conquered. Managed to clock 42mph on the road back to the van which was great, my legs couldn't go any faster.

bit unoriginal but did follow the dog and most of the monkey trail at cannock today.was my first time properly off road and had a blast. was chuffed as kept up with my far more experienced mates ( although im pretty sure they slowed down for the others anyway ) i also hadnt fallen off UNTIL the last little bit of flat section. my tire spun on a root and i came to a standstill. put my foot down but my legs literally couldnt hold me up. ended up lying on the floor laughing! mate had a fairly big off though. hit a stump on a descent which chucked him to the side straight into a tree. craked his helmet and took a big knock to his shoulder. and some say helmets dont work!

Did an awesome little local loop around the Caerphilly area - through the top of Van woods, down to Rudry, Draethen and back again. About 10 miles in all. Awesome.
  • Old Railway lines -> Archallagan plantation -> Stoney Mountain -> South Barrule plantation -> Arrasey plantation -> Slieu Whallian -> Old Railway lines back home again.

Just under 30mi all told. Bionic man on a Bionicon getting back on form.
New knee feels good though :)
  • Did a lap round Cwmcarn Twrch today on the Canyon. 1st time I attempted the full red on the big bike since having my Boardman nicked.
Did it in about 1hr50, uses to take me 1hr40 on the Boardman so well happy!

Have made a compilation of all the good bits at CC from today too as the weather was lush... Keep an eye out in the vids bit!

Out in the dust in Swinley today. Funny how your local trails become soooo much sweeter when its dry. I only saw mud once, and bunny hopped it.

Aston hill, first time there in the dry and it was great. 5 of us, few crashes but the roots are deffo easier when they're
not wet! Had to ride a mates old g-spot as my bike is in with the lbs, so that made it interesting. Had sun, rain and even
