It's all the other threads that are amusing me (ok, this one is too !!)
It's even leeched into his legit thread at the top of the beginners forum.

I know, but I have to try and balance out what is probably about to come at this rate, scoring Brownie points now before I get them all deducted over the weekend and such.

I've gotta say I also resisted checking this thread out because I thought it would be just too daft. What was I thinking...

Must say this thread has brightened my January no end.

So we have Speed_King (twice), Steelem, and Thebigbee (twice?).
Ones I have lost were an Australian non-motorised bike with a motor, and a guy running a survey as part of his Masters degree which was quite good too.

Common theme appears to be posters throwing a wobbly when anyone is not entirely sympathetic with their situation, although I recall Steelem redeemed himself (with help from his mum).

Any other classic threads I should know about?

There are some horrible people about. Like last night, I took my girlfriend to the pub and the locals were shouting "Paedo" and other names at me just because my girlfriend is 21 and I'm 50. It completely spoilt our 10th Anniversary.

I have a lot of empathy with the OP.

Last weekend I bought a new pair of jeans. They weren't the cheap and cheerful kind, they cost me quite a large portion of my disposable income. I had only had them on for a couple of hours when the zip broke. I was very unhappy at that point, because they were new ones and the zip should have lasted for more that a couple of hours, shouldn't it?

Anyway, as the zip had broken (and I had only worn them for a few hours) I decided to go back to the shop I bought them from and exercise my rights under the relevant consumer legislation. I went to the shop on Monday, asked to speak to the manager and explained to him that I had bought the jeans on Saturday (showed him my receipt to prove that I was being truthful) and said that I'd only worn them for a couple of hours and that zips shouldn't break after just two hours and that the jeans must have been put together badly, or perhaps there was a manufacturing fault. The manager was quite polite and apologised for the inconvenience and the broken zip. He offered me a replacement pair, which was good because I really liked the fit of those jeans.

He also gave me a £20 voucher for the inconvenience and gave me £10 cash to cover my bus fare to and from town.

I'm not sure if I should take this further. I mean, the zip shouldn't have broken after just two hours, should it?

My carer says I should let it lie, but I would appreciate it if you would all agree with me and then tell me what 'take this further' might mean.

If you don't agree with whatever it is I might want out of this very upsetting situation, please either pretend you do, or don't reply.

I feel for you - the zip should never have broken and the £20 voucher plus £10 cash simply isnt good enough. What you really want to know is how do you go about making sure that zip never broke in the first place as you want to keep wearing those jeans and nothing less will do? Ok so normal convention says the zip has broken already and it cant be undone, just put right....... but this simply will not do??

Exactly. Thanks for your support at this difficult time.

When I realised the zip had broken I looked down and said to myself, "oh dear, the zip has broken on my new jeans and I've only been wearing them for two hours", but, what the manager failed to realise is that I might have been driving a bus full of children when I suddenly realised that my zip had broken, and not wishing to be caught with my zip open whilst all those children were present I might have reacted by swerving off the road, going over a cliff and killing them all.

Now what would the helpful manager have said then, eh?

Not only that, but you can't tell what else might go wrong; a zip failure could be lethal (sic), I expect you have no confidence at all in, say, the seams...

Argh the thought of you being found dead with your jeans not being zipped up after driving off a cliff with a bus full of kids could lead to all sorts of dodgy conclusions. This would be a life changing event for not just you but anyone who ever knew you and simply cant be allowed to happen.

    THE ZIP MUST NOT BREAK!!

Einstein's theoretical work simply must be completed to bring time travel to reality - so enabling zips to be designed as unbreakable!! (hang on - i cant know anything about Einstein's theory of general relativity and its consequences on the possibility of time travel, seeing as i'm just a sheep from Merseyside and hence have no intelligence!!)
