Come on guys surely ThebigBee is right - as he alludes to in the OP isn't likely that the supplier is deliberately tampering with the bikes and introducing faults on purpose, thereby causing themselves lots of grief rectifying said problem and possibly losing a highly lucrative insurance claims contract ????

Go on BigBee take it up with the supplier and let them know you're on to their darstardly plan!! Be sure to keep us up to date on how you get on

Unfortunately I struggle to find it a "one off" as I had another insurance bike off them

Maybe when they send the new chain you should ask them for a good lock too.
  • Dear OP, what on earth is your problem? Bad thing happened, shop went above and beyond what they could have done for you. What "situation" are you trying to handle?

I used to work for a large chain of bike shops and since leaving that industry I can't tell you how nice it is that I no longer have to deal with people like you. You're not alone, there are many other people are totally unreasonable, possibly through delusions of grandeur or feelings of inadequacy, who knows? But they exist, one chap came in to the shop demanding we replace his aluminium Giant racing bike with a nice new carbon steed under warranty as the frame had cracked. Well that's all well and good sir but we don't sell Giant and you didn't buy it from us? "I KNOW MY RIGHTS" said the chap, "Well you clearly don't" was the response... Having read, re-read and read the OP one more time to make sure I'd read it, you strike me as the same kind of person.

The amount of "odd" as you put it, responses you have got on here should set alarm bells off in your head that the problem is in fact not the chain breaking, the problem is you. IMO

Why not be the envy of your friends by using your old chain to make some very fashionable and desirable jewellery.

I want one .... now!

Perhaps Thebigbee can utilise the broken chain to fund a futile/ridiculous small claims action?

  • Hilarious, for further hilarity tho do a search for other threads where bigbee manages to offend and turn seemingly inane topics into...well...ones like this :D

The user is an utter, but somewhat entertaining, plank.

I posted a (now I realise ridiculous) thread asking why I wasn't going faster on a new bike I bought. Several people replied to point out that it was because I was a fat unfit ba****rd (in no uncertain terms!). It was true - it was funny - and I also got good advice (ride more eat less!) but some fun was had.

You need to clean the biscuit crumbs from your keyboard - it appears you have some sticking keys that are being replaced by asterisks... :P

LOL ! (and I mean laughing out loud not Lunch?... oh lots!

PS- Can we go to the other thread he started and quote everything from here into that one?

PPS - I tried to be reasonable in my post but I take it back - the OP is deranged!

You forgot to mention he'd then blame the 12 year old for starting it all :?

I think the OP needs to work on his negotiation skills. I had a problem back in September with a new bike purchased from Wiggle. The bike looked OK when unpacked at first glance (at least to a road beginner), but on closer inspection the handlebars were not at all straight, if anything they were at a 90 degree angle to the front wheel. If this wasn't enough the seat post and saddle were not located anywhere near where they should be and where in fact in a separate box. To top things off there were no fucking pedals! I telephoned wiggle to express my concern at them despatching such a dangerous bike which could have been lethal if taken out on the roads, they offered to cover expenses for having the bike assembled at a LBS, sent me a small pack of haribo and arranged for two high class London escorts in French maid outfits wielding a double ender to pleasure me in my flat.

Wiggle do this all the time. It's as if the girls make up for lack of proper assembly. Their customer service staff call it a sweetener - a kind of Harem-bo deal.

Dammit! How could I have missed that one - it is better than this one. There ought to be a special sub forum where the Speedking, Steelem and Bigbee threads could all be put together and saved for posterity.

As I see that thread now most of it is missing. There were a shed load of posts from NapD and loads more abuse from bigbee - it was simply as astonishing as it was riveting!
