If buying from deal extreme do you get charged import duty and tax?0
-
It's possible, but only seen it extremely rarely. They usually makr the items as low value gifts.0

I've got the DX 18650 charger with a Euro plug and a MagicShine charger with an US plug and both fit in my normal shaver/toothbrush plug adapter just fine. So if you have one of these already, you're sorted.0 -
I just received one of these on saturday and the light is really good, i was really amazed at the spread and reach. would recommend anyday. tokk about 3 weeks to come

It would only be duty, not VAT and duty unless your ordering a large quantity.
but I can't remember the last person who got stung. I think you have more chance when ordering from US suppliers.Dazzza wrote:

Just buy that and you are away. The risk is low of the cells blowing up. More chance of crashing in the forest and the torch going up your aris.
Have you got the UltraFire TH-T60 HA-II XM-LT60 5-Mode 1200-Lumen - what is it like?0 -

Useful - thanks for this. Think will place an order.
Out of interest do you know if this torch;
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Mode ... elID=31959
will fit any of the DX bar mounts?
- my bar mount broke last night (2nd time I used it), it was about 10°C and it looks like it cracked from the cold - not a good sign for a life in the Alps! - so won't be buying another one of these;

Also - is this charger not a better option for an extra €3?
As it uses a standard Figure-8 Power Lead so no adapters/plug replacement required

Regards, Steve
Are you talking about the xml-t6 bike light, as opposed to a torch?
If so, I'd say it was more suited to being helmet mounted, given that it's a very sharp spot. I've got a Giro Hex and it's quite easily doable, with the battery back in a backpack/pocket.0 -
Those chargers are OK, but they are not very powerful (take about 50% longer to charge) and wont take the larger 18700 cells or some of the protected 18650s.0

Put them in the torch last night and wow, it's powerful. Trouble is that after 5 minutes it's too hot to touch. After about 7 minutes even the switch end is too hot and I suspect if you left it a few more minutes it would take your skin off! I realise that it would be cooled when riding, but I doubt it will be cooled enough.
Is this torch likely to ruin by new expensive batteries?
Am I better off buying another torch at a more suitable spec? I'm wanted to buy another torch and am happy to buy two more. So what's the best & most suitable spec? XM-LT6 at 1400mA as the UltraFire WF-502B torch?
the above was from d3matt in the old wlt
Interesting ran a test with a XM-L 501b I got from Lightmalls (Digital Regulated 3000mA Current Output); this was using a Ultrafire BRC 3000mah battery. Ran at full power and after 15 mins I would say quite warm but not too hot to touch. After 1hr 10 it had dropped down to low power, I didn't notice at what point it stepped down.Trek Remedy 7

the 501b has a larger head than the one mentioned in the above. Ideally you don't want to run your batteries to the point the led goes dim as it will over discharge them. Personally the 501 is as small as I would go given the heat generated.
I'm also not convinced about claimed amps, I've seen reports that the dx 501b run at anything from 1.7A to 2.8A. They are supposed to be 1.4A, Mine run at 1.8A0 -
What's the lightest 18650 501 XML-T6?0

Hi,
I've been looking into buying some torch's for over a year now, but I'm just so confused of what to get!
I would like to buy 2 i think, wither on the bars or one bar one head. But, I also would really prefer to buy from UK supplier, or eBay. Hey, I'm just impatient! And don't fancy getting a faulty one.
I have looked at this one; http://www.dealextreme.com/p/ultrafire- ... 8650-57007 as mentioned elsewhere on the site, but it's from America I think. Also whats the difference between that one and this one; http://www.dealextreme.com/p/ultrafire- ... 8650-57006
What about this? http://www.dealextreme.com/p/t6-assault ... -set-82508
It's mindfield! They have exactly the same model name and everything! I have looked for night light sets from Cree and Ultrafire on eBay, but it's impossible to know whats good. They are read similar, though some seem to get so hot that surely they can't be safe?
Ideally I would appreciate a firm "buy this" ! But I realise that its all a matter of opinion.
All advice welcome.0 -
Looked in the stickies or FAQ? A simple, all you need kit just there:
http://www.bikeradar.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=12807346
The difference in the first two torches is the size, and the crown - can be seen in the pics. The internals should be the same.
The last one is not a torch, but a lamp with external battery pack as mentioned many times in previous threads.0 -
clarky buy this and stop fecking about its 11 quid. will take 3 weeks.
unfortunately the above and the other one you are looking at are sold out of the UK warehouse, so you have to wait.0 -
Because some prefer larger bodies as they run cooler. And are better made.0
-
Cheaper charger with uk plug:

Could you run the Bike Light that normally comes with 4x18650 on just a single 18650 on medium? That way allowing for less to be mounted on the helmet.0
-
No minimum 2 cells as its 8.4v0

Yes, hence the torch I listed was that one. If the differences between those torches is so little why do they both exist? And why is one much more? It must offer something? Obviously the other is not a torch, but it might be somewhat better? And again the links in your thread are not from England.0 -

I'm not happy about waiting for 3 weeks, and knowing my luck with purchases, to find it doesn't work. Also that still leaves me looking around for a decent battery and charger, which with all the talk of explosions is a mindfield alone.
There's lots of package deals on ebay which will be asier but just don't know if they will be any good.0 -
The other torch has a screw on assault crown. Good if you want to bash people when riding, but costs more. The last one has an external battery pack hence more runtime, and has all you need to get going. Some can be got in England, would have to google for them but expect to pay a lot more.0
