This thread needs more VW love! not those cheese eating surrender monkey cars!:lol:
11117%7C000000e20%7C358a_fasty-2.jpgI'd love another type 3, becoming too rare on the ground now to get one at a reasonable cost.
but i suppose no wish list would be complete without a splitty?

  • As long as they are older types like you posted! Splitty's, karman's etc. The new ones just have No Soul! Too clinical!
My cousins have a show van, slitty barn door camper, used to have a '58 rat splitty panel van and a '56 right hooker they were doing up, Lovely vans! Especially the Rat van! Just something about it!! Will try and dig out some pictures! Neil works for a VW restorer, converter general work on garage in Frome area,

Off to clean a Danbury in a mo for lady at littluns nursery, her daughters wedding this saturday so van needs a sparkling! Not the same as an old one but not a bad van!

I've decided that failing a Mk1 Golf GTi I'll take one of these

    stock84a.jpg

Of course, slammed and running a 2ltr 16v with 45's and a bike in the back

Yes. Very, very much so. The extra long one would be extra mega cool.

And just to add a detail... old VW rims, a deep blue paint job and a bare rust bonnet.

Talking of dream VWs I nearly cried last week. One of our friends down the road bought a mint Mk2 16V Golf GTI a few weeks ago - Metallic Dark Green, Original BBS alloys and black leather interior rather than cloth, totally clean not even the usual rust in the sill trims.

Saw it on Saturday and numb nuts has ruined it, lowered too far, black alloys with tyres that aren't wide enough for the rim, huge stupid 4 inch exhaust, holes cut in the parcel shelf for speakers. Worst of all, white rear light clusters.

I'm not even sure I can bear to say hello.

If he could count to potato he'd be dangerous.

And yes Essex, but close enough to Suffolk to get the worst of both. I fear for my childrens future. :(

Old VW campers? Slow, unrelieable and hugely expensive? I'd go for a T4. Though I used to go camping in a Toyota Previa and that was slow, unreliable and insanely expensive to drive... plus it lacked any kind of credibility

that's a super straight van that! Awesome but I would have to stay camper for those emergency bacon rolls and coffee making abilitys!
My old camper had a fridge too, it was just big enough for a 4 pack and a large choccy bar

Nooo, not quite like that...

Still, done right, and with the right engine, a Caddy is impossibly cool....

I'd also like an original John Cooper Mini. The one with the big flared arches and tiny extra wide track wheels. (but with another rally-prep set for fun on the gravel..) With the Rally spot lights and that insanely tuned Cooper engine (have no idea what it is) that you can tell from a mile away because of it's sound. Awesome.

Most of the Rally cars of the last 40 year's have some kind of soft spot in my heart. But a Lancia Delta Intergrale is a (unrealistically) near the top of my want-list...

And if we're going the Group B route a Renault 5 GT Turbo2 with the big side scoops....

    r5t2av.jpeg

(thats not a very good example... 2 tone green is my fave...

Oh, I could carry on all night....[/url]

That 5 would kill me almost instantly though. That's why so few are around now. they ALL got driven into a bush....

(that's like Sheepsteeth's knob that is...)

  • Oooooo forgot all about the 5! Good choice Sir!

One that isn't a realistic one right now, (I am only 21) But one that I am determined I will own at some point in my life (not wish to own....)

    cc-6-0028.jpg

    2/3 door version of the Mk2 escort! Wouldn't begrudge a Mk1 though...

my mate (the lucky beggar) buys, fixes and sells that type of classic. And he keeps the really nice stuff. Last time I saw him he had...
several mini's... a few coopers, a mini van, a mini pickup, a mini clubman... etc. a Vauxaul astra tsi. (its not a tsi, but its something like that... a fast one from tthe early 90s... then he has a few others... Landys, a transit 4x4 and more. then come his pride and joy. fast fords. I wont name them all, but Escort RS turbos (mk2 and 3... he wants a mk1... but they are stupid money...) a few sierras, a fiesta (most of these are some form of Turbo or Rally version. Or are packing a hidden beast of an engine. A good example was the super-van he started but never got round to finishing... a mk3 escort rs chassis (it was more adjustable apparently...) on mk2 running gear and transmission with a cosworth 2.5 Turbo engine. Running rally spec everything. But with a bog standard (slightly rusty) escort van body and interior. A true street sleeper... It takes a clever guy to pull of a project like that, and im gutted Jon never got round to finishing... it wasent far away... it got split for parts eventually...) And he was after a Cosworth Siera Turbo... the one with the mad rear wing... but was lacking funds (the whole set up, farm based workshop and all is funded by a window cleaning round...!) He also has a rare and very cool escort van turbo. Normal (small) van bodywork. killer performance.

He's not rich, and with the exception of one or two of the mini's none of its exactly mint... but he's a very clever guy and sells as many as he has... almost always bought in a mess and fixed up...

a really nice guy, with some kick-ass cars... he rides too... (that reminds me... must contact him and sort out an MTB trip that involves a very fast Ford... :-D)

He doesn't happen to live in Reading by any chance does he? Guy round the corner from where I used to live had a shitload of minis including mini van and pick-up!

The Renault 5 gtt is on my bucket list, I had an 86 Fiesta xr2 with an RS turbo engine which was an absolute hoot to drive. It was hard work keeping it off boost, it just wanted to go and lose your licence for you.

Now got a twin turbo Supra, was a dream car for years and its time to move on I think. 400bhp, great looks and noise but automatic. Would put a pic up but dont think i can from my phone.

A big part of me is saying sell it and buy a proper bike, anyone fancy a swap? :D

I used to have one of these Toyoya Celica GT4:

    i3752.jpg

Man I loved that car (and I'm not a car person at all - bikes for me) However owning a mint Carlos Seinz Limited Edition from the same era would be a realistic dream car for me. Rare as rocking horse sh*t these days though.
You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.
  • during the spell of good weather we had recently, i saw 2 convertible Celica's!! rare car as it was but to see 2 different ones in our village was a bit of a shock!!

guy that worked in the local motor factors used to own a purple one with a Full on body kit, looked Great but was only a 1.8 so was more a cruising car than lump to match the looks!!!
