Whats your realistic dream car?

Actually, I love the look of the new Citroen C5 - great looking saloon.
The thread was titled 'realistic' precisely to keep out hypothetical BS about Ferrari et al and was given an adendum in the OP - you should be able to afford to run it (regularly, not once a year). The thread has been rightly interpreted for over a dozen pages now and we've got some crackin' cars for thought, things that have real character, things that the posters have real experience with, cars for which the only reason why we choose not to buy them is common sense (reliability for instance) when our hearts know our lives would be vastly improved with the addition of some simple, but within reach driving pleasure. These are cars posted out of love and passion. Ferraris are posted out of lust, pure sexual infantile desire for the most expensive thing featured in a Top Trumps pack. Unless you can actually afford to own and regularly run a Super Sport, in which case, feel free to windmill your pay packet.

What, the little festa driving by? Interesting choice.
After having a very nice Jag estate for a 3 years i wanted something a bit more fun, Enter a Seat Leon FR550, few little mods like the 18" black alloys etc, goes like stink and handles like its on rails. I wouldnt say its my "Realistic" dream car as it had to be a comprimise, I still had to fit VWdog in it, 2 children and bikes.
So it now has Roof bars and bike mounts, a boot full of mud and sweet wrappers, toys and fingerprints in the back.
I'm thinking next time round i change the car to go a little bit more adventerous, either a 911 (993 or 996) with roof rack, or a bloody great 4x4 but then i think i might hate myself. If i didnt need to drive to work anymore and start to go by train for instance i'll get anothe VW (proper one) like this.

Is that an old Triumph something? The GT6 is my 'reserve' realistic dream car after the 240z.0 -
Triumph? the clues in my name
it was a 1969 type 3 fastback. I had a few of them, loved them.
Triumph GT6, nice choice, one of my jobs as an apprentice was restoring a TR4a IRS. Uber cool.0 -
Nissan Primera GT, Have a 1.6 SI P11 now (not a bad car for my age) and it drives a treat, however if I could afford to insure one I'd have a GT version which would be a pokey car, enough practicality for daily use and sporty enough for a B-Road blast 8)
Or a VW Transporter t5 sportline, if i was feeling flush. Big stereo for beach/woods parties and room for the bikes. Sorted0 -

It has quite a few little issues, but nothing which will stop it going so I'm happy0 -

Aye nice motors the M sports, although prefer the 5 series in saloon to the touring it just looks too fat in touring, the 3 series touring looks nice and proportioned which is why I just bought one.
Alas its not a 335d.
I currently have the 320d SE saloon, which is very nice.
Looking to change to a tourer so that I can get the bike in the back (don't really want to spoil the 320 by putting roof racks on)

Plenty of space in the tourer, not quite as much space as in my mk3 mondy ST hatchback (Could get my bike in the boot without putting the seats down) but in the tourer with seats down theres more room surprisingly considering its actually a smaller car.
Easily get 2/3 bikes in with front wheel off or 2 and a weekends worth of camping gear.
Mines a 320d M sport only had it a few days and loving it, the engine doesnt have the "power band" of normal diesels, it just powers all the way through the rev range and churns out more MPG than my Mondy. No complaints so far.0 -
i really really want an old 6 series again. super looking, ace to drive and not too pricey to be honest although as with any 20 odd year old car, buying a good one can be tricky. the floor fell out on my old one, very gutted!
this wasnt mine but i would love one just like it.

I'd quite like to get a Landrover Discovery. Always been fixated on Defenders until today. To be honest it's a realistic and sensible car for me, considering what my job will hopefully be involving when I eventually graduate. Quite bike friendly too, wouldn't feel guilty at all about scuffing it up and bunging dirty crap in there.0

we had a load of discoverys at work a while back, excellent motors, i may well buy one. i wouldnt pay their new price but for 12-15 grand i reckon they are a good buy.
as for defenders, i wouldnt drive one outside of my job, i can barely fit my shoulders in with the door shut. ive never understood why there is about 2 feet between you and your pasenger but there is about 4 inches between the steering wheel and the drivers door.0 -
Mmmmmm
The monthlies on this would very much be in range... Shame it can't hold a bike or two...0 -
