In fact judging from my starting weight in January I think I'm punching well above my weight in the speed and stamina department.

I've also seen that you have currently 21 different segments on your ride in :o No wonder you're cracking PBs and 2nds/3rds at a rate of knots!

If you had hit Whitechapel, Mile End Rd on the way to Bow this morning, you would have got a few more ;)

I've just looked again. When you go to the challenge page I can see my Feet, but not on the Dashboard.

How 212ft has put me in 512th place i'm not sure

Pufftmw, The Whitechapel, Mile End Road and Bow bit - I was on the train by then, forgot to turn off Strava. Only counting the sections up to Liverpool Street.

okgo, it was a carful guarded secret (but I feel better about me now and the Power Awesome/Super D is returning, slowly) but when I went to the Doctors in January - stress related comfort eating/smoking/drinking, mostly stopped riding my bike or riding with any conviction around Oct/Nov until Jan due to stress - I weighed around the 17st/108kg mark. Which is a stone heavier than my heaviest weight before that. Blood tests with no surprises, fact that I ride 20 miles a day was probably why the Doctor didn't put me on tablets there and then. I go back in July, not for weight but for a follow up health check to see if the numbers are heading south - they should be. Went vegetarian last week for a whole week, that's a huge step for me.

So STRAVA for me is about me at this time(I don't mind the banter), I seriously can see my times dropping consistently for a long while because I've got to go a long way before I get to that place I was August years ago where i literally felt amazing on a bike (well for me). I doubt you'll really be seeing decent figures from me until July.

In all seriousness, good luck with all that. I'm very lucky in that I'm naturally skinny, the only time I had to lose weight was after I'd had chemo. The steroids caused me to go up a couple of sizes in my waist measurement. Stopping the steroids dropped one size, getting on the bike dropped the other.

    Thanks.

It shouldn't be too hard. I don't smoke, hardly drink and I'm eating far more sensibly, eating being the biggest problem. My base fitness was/is actually quite decent (which is why I think my body responds well to exercise and being pushed until it hurts) and I come from good stock. I'm always going to be on the big side of built though I'm just broad I've got to face that.

Is it wise to "just go veggie"? Your body is not used to it and in regaining fitness, surely you need protein?

How tall are you, just curious. Also do you have target to lose the weight or are you happy as you are?

Good stuff. Stress is a weird one. It can make you apathetic about a lot of things, even things that would help alleviate the symptoms.

Due to illness and work pressure my first non-commute ride of the year was last Sunday. (And that was due to CJ badgering me.)

At Herne Hill, road bike training will shortly resume (Tuesday nights, 6pm - 9pm, IIRC). If you get the chance, you should pop down after work. The new surface is great and you can put in some decent training miles at your own pace.

As the banking is not steep, you can bring your own road bike. I think it's still £6 per session.

Fraction under 6ft. And yes i have a target, I want to be down under 16st before I head off to Jon o Groats in June.... Currently at 17st 8lbs. Starting taking in Hills on my way home (currently putney hill) and at weekends (box hill this weekend, ditchling beacon last) to try and get the weight down. I'm happy with my weight, have been for years problem was always fitness and not being able to do what I want, right now even though I'm fairly fit I still can't do what I want, go up hills quickly. Loosing a few pounds should help that.

Isn't CyclingProp about 6'6" tall? That's a lot of extra height to store pies in.
I didn't realise HH did sessions for road bikes. Might have a look too. Suppose I could bring the fixed.

Once you've go them licked, may I recommend Leith Hill, White Down, Titsey Hill and my personal favourite: Succomb's Hill. Mind you I haven't tried riding those whilst towing a trailer. Not sure how I'd do in Sketchley's RP handicap idea.
