    This.
I'm staying quiet on this as I know Kate F does early commutes down Embankment too and I don't want to tempt anything.

Pffttt - wasn't even trying. We were waiting for Dhope to catch up. Now that I know its a segment I'll ride it like I mean it. (WrathRob - how exactly did we get to the hill?)

Could I have gone 32 seconds quicker and beaten JZed? Maybe with better gearing as I had no rhythm (that's hard work for a dyslexic btw). Pleasing to see I delivered more power than JZed.....

 Hate to tell you this - but thats on a 30lb mountainbike with 2.25inch full nobblies.

Well now I know that Box Hill isn't too bad I'll put a bit of effort in next time. I thought it'd go on for a few more miles, see

Oh the retrun leg I'm 11th out of 21 across London Bridge.

    11 Laurence Whittle Tue, Mar 13, 2012 21.5 mph - 169 w - 0:51
    18 Chris Sketchley Wed, Jan 11, 2012 16.6 mph - 127 w - 1:06

    Court house sprint Southbound

    7 Laurence Whittle Tue, Mar 13, 2012 21.4 mph - 293 w - 0:36
    10 Chris Sketchley Wed, Jan 11, 2012 20.9 mph - 125 w - 0:37

(It should be noted at this stage that both dhope and JZED have posted slower times than me)

But in the interest of fairness

    CS7 Southbound (Elephant & Castle - Collier's Wood)

    3 Laurence Whittle Mon, Mar 05, 2012 15.1 mph - 146 w - 24:41
    4 Chris Sketchley Tue, Nov 22, 2011 14.4 mph 35 bpm 144 w - 25:56

This is of course the return journey, legs are tired and at a different time of year. But yeah, the D-machine is coming to get you!

Is there an easy way to see who you may have ridden with in Strava?

Must have done it on a 20mph Venge - there's no stopping those things. Still, even if I could, I don't think I'd have the 'stones' to attack CS7 like that. Did you just shut your eyes 'sprint & hope' through tooting? I doff my helmet to you.

Me? 14 achievements, 6 personal bests on the inward commute. And to think, I spent the entire commute complaining about having 'poor form' this week, a second successive day of heavy legs and moaning about other cyclists in my way and cars cutting me up. I think one day I should just 'go for it' and go 'Super D'. Such is the rate of my exponential improvement. Imagine what July will look like.

LOL - Statistically you will get loads of PBs etc at the start of your use of Strava and these will decrease over time or the numbers of change will be small. The trick is to be constantly upping your PBs over a long period - that is the real challenge.

I can only lose weight, which means I can only get faster. And I'm starting from the high end of chubby which means I got a long way to go and lots of faster to get.

In fact judging from my starting weight in January I think I'm punching well above my weight in the speed and stamina department.

I might start a new Strava account so I can go deliberately slowly and regularly get PBs.

How did you manage that? You must have been going 30mph with no traffic and no red lights for the whole distance. That bit of road is usually pretty busy with lots of taxi jostling around rush hour.

I did take a glance at the average when I reached Balham and decided that it was worth carrying on as I'd made good time so far, so closed my eyes and proceeded through Tooting. Was 8pm by that point though so was a bit clearer than I was expecting. Tooting busy but not the carnage you find an hour earlier. I took primary and just kept the same speed as traffic.

The Venge's 20mph is of course not possible to reach. It's like Warp 10, and you can only tend toward but never reach the limit. I'm looking forward to July.

When a Venge reaches 20mph it is everywhere simultaneously.

I was going to say it must have been a late home commute, as I know I did a few around then, but no, 5:15 start Strava. Guess I must have been lucky!

So the Climbing Challenge startde today, needless to say i did not do the 10 reps of Richmond Hill to get my averages up to the required 700m per day . . .

Why can't it have been a pie eating challenge?
