BTW, apparently there's a Strava upgrade coming that will allow you to browse a map to find segments. Could be interesting :twisted:FCN3: Titanium Qoroz.0 -

Now that will be cool!!0 -
Failed at my attempt to take Col Du Balham KOM tonight was horrible traffic leading up the beast! I can only guess a massive snowstorm near the summit caused such traffic!0

Very chilled commute back this eve, sub 17 average but enjoyed the pootle.
Fastest of the week for Millbank Southbound btw.

Sitting home today coughin' & sneezin', no bike 'til Friday, doctor's (read wife's) orders. Had a thought about the logo. I haven't worked out how to insert a pic so here's the link - http://www.flickr.com/photos/thorskegga/4158366987/ -something worked around that!
I appreciate it'sa UK thing but the heart sort of beats here, well from my reading of posts and articles it seems to!!0 -

I've never raced either, but in a bunch you'd be surprised what speeds you can hold - especially during the first 20/30 miles of any big Sportives!
In a Cat 4 race at Hillingdon, you can hold 24-25.FCN 2-4.

Late breaking news. Just looked at the guy's ride who is the current Millbank Sprint (North) segment leader and he never gets over 26mph. But the data points jump. So his isn't a valid KoM (call me sad but I've flagged the ride). If that's the case then the true KoM is at 54 seconds. I think I might have 2 seconds in me...FCN3: Titanium Qoroz.0

Like the logo, even though I've only drunk in there once. In about 1987 when I knew the manager. I feel so old.0

Andrei I presume. Anyway - does someone let your tyres down for the home journey. Sub-17mph average. Makes my 21.5mph look good
EDIT: Forgot to say - Your mamma so fat she ate alllllllllllll the food so you dint get none, so you had to go slooowwwwww allllllll the way home.0 -
I'm 4th on the RP clockwise segment, odd as I went anti clockwise. Admittedly 4th out of 7 in SCR. Must try harder.0

Made a catastrophic error this morning, misjudged the wind entirely. Last night had been a headwind so I foolishly expected a tailwind this morning, and I was feeling pretty good, so I thought I'd have a crack at a couple of segments on my way in.
First segment is a bit tricky, as I've had little or no warm-up at all by that time, but I gun it as much as I can. I'm suddenly aware that I'm struggling to hold much more than 24 mph, I keep going and manage a 3rd overall on the segment. I was hoping for more; I was knackered after the effort. I spin on to the next segment and I have another go, again, the speed is poor, halfway along this section there's a windsock, and you've guessed it, it was horizontal into my face.
Was goosed after that segment and decided to just pootle. :oops:0 -

I'm with you - 16.8mph is my best effort too. Maybe we should start a Silly Commuter Pootling group?!FCN 3 / 40 -

Kidding. Yeah, last night wasn't great. Slowed by nodders and traffic for the stretch to Westminster and then tweaked my back coming past P'Square. Not impressed. Been stretching it out since then and it seems a bit better this morning. Last night is my last chance of the week too as I'm working from home tomorrow.FCN3: Titanium Qoroz.0 -
@ Bassjunkie, getting a bit tight at the top on Camberwell sprint northbound! :shock:0

It should be possible for Strava when working out segments to spot jumps in GPS data and exclude them from the segment. Might be worth asking a question on the support page and pointing Strava at few examples.--

In all honesty, its a pretty cr*p segment, the deciding factor being whether or not you get lucky at the lights - you could make a detour only to find yourself stuck in traffic0 -
