I've been trying to work out how to include this on my ride to dockland so I can have a go. Anyone car to suggest a good route from Morden / Collierswood

In all honesty, its a pretty cr*p segment, the deciding factor being whether or not you get lucky at the lights - you could make a detour only to find yourself stuck in traffic :(

Sounds like you are trying to put me off

No, competition is welcome :-) @Sketchley - Have a look at my ride when I hit that segment for a rough idea how to get there from at least Mitcham(ish) area! As Mat says it is really dependant on lights!

  • Just signed up to this today. Little disappointed to see that the only 'segment' along my route is Waterloo Bridge Road northbound, but I'm sure in time I'll learn how to add them myself.

Now if someone was only to create a College Road segment then I could humiliate myself in style.

College Road to Fountain Drive exists - time to beat is 2:28

I'm sure I went sub 3-minutes last night but Strava recorded it as 3:04 - been having a few glitches lately, not best pleased. I mean I recorded it as 2:55 or thereabouts, very strange  :(

Did you unhide hidden segments? Richmond Park goes from 4 to about 20 if you do this.

You have to match the GPS Start/Finish so if the person who set that up started/finished in a slightly different place to what you consider the start/finish then that might happen. I also noticed when setting up a segment that you can't always go exactly to where you want & it jumps if segments of about 5m.

To the top of Fountain Drive? Yikes! I struggle to get under 4:00 minutes if I tack it onto the end of my commute. I'd give it a go on the way home, but I have the strangest feeling there will be a bottle of wine weighing down my rucksack tonight.

Anyone ever done a segment for the College Road/Dulwich Wood Park descent afterwards? Would love to know what the record for top to mini roundabout is.

Certainly a bad idea to compete on them. When I do it it's at 11:15 at night and pretty clear, but I still give myself enough time to react if neccessary. A bit too fun all the same.

That's the week's commute done. I don't know why I find the way home harder, but took a dose of MTFU and set 1 PB, 1 second best and 1 third. Got myself to the top of one of the leader boards too (for the week).

    Off to stretch...

So so so nearly took your KOM off you and without even trying or realising. Had to stop at AB lights otherwise it would have been mine. 1 second off you and if I do the comparison I was 11 seconds ahead of you at AB and then you came passed and stayed about 1 second in front the whole way. Next week

So far looks like I've 8 1sts (1 joint) and 5 2nds. Not a bad haul but should have been more. I have a couple to target on the way home to see if I convert some of those 2nds to firsts and knock Ron off his perch,

Decided I'm not getting enough segments in the morning. So I have now extended to take in Millbank North & Millbank East.

Now I'm never going to get a good time as I come from Victoria station direction, so it's more for my personal targets etc... Didn't know exactly where the segments were this morning, so now I do I can hit them hard on Monday!

This Strava thing is addictive :D

Just because I saw a New Cross to New Kent Road segment, thought I would "incorporate" that on my run in this morning - 4th Overall, so chuffed with that for a first effort. Got knobbled by the traffic lights at Tescos as they changed just before I got there & I had to wait the whole cycle  That 45 seconds or whatever waiting would have made all the difference...

I wonder what other segments I will bring into my daily commute!

    Aaarrrggghhhh!

What on earth has been unleashed here. I was happy pootling along with the occassional bit of SCR and now I have discovered this which wil be putting an end to pootling and make me far more focussed on where and how I am cycling.

Thankfully I am yet to find any segments in Bristol, I guess though it is only a matter of time!

Make your own segments and then see if anyone else is riding them. Failing that, race yourself. And yes, it is addictive!

I can't believe how annoyed I was this morning because I couldn't get the GPS to pick up on my phone. In days gone by I'd just shrug and go but now I MUST see my segments, I MUST.

And then what did I find - I honestly pootled because there was no one "watching".

Mind you it was 9.30am, RP was absolutely glorious and the Embankment was dead.

Might leave early and enjoy the sun 8)

So I've been doing this for a week now and I've got my first KOM, Tooting Bec to Balham! Rather pleased with myself. Just need to get an epic string of green lights for E&C to Clapham Common now...

Haha, go for it! I reckon I can squeeze another mile or two per hour out on that stretch. It'll leave me a broken man for the rest of the commute though of course, probably end up pushing up Col du Balham...

An added bonus for me then, using the Tooting-Balham sprint as a defence against those that might threaten my Col du Balham KOM :D

Maybe we can come to some agreement? You steer clear of my segment and I'll pootle up Balham Hill like normal 8)

'cos I definitely haven't been absolutely busting a nut to get up it as fast as I can...

Commuting to the city at the weekend is sooo much easier had a nice clear run and even though I was hungover as hell I managed a 20mph average and also set a good time on waterloo bridge southbound (only discovered it was a segment when uploaded) Had a cheeky tow from a car until he dropped me as I spun out!

    There's your problem ^
Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.
Rule #9 // If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
Rule #12 // The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.
Rule #42 // A bike race shall never be preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run.
