I guess people care for them because they identify with them. Musicians as poets who lay bare their emotions and put into words and music what people feel. Be it joy, anger or pain. There's an emotional connection. They identify or maybe they just admire their talent for summing up the human condition. It doesn't take their mind off their lives... it captures, condenses and reflects their lives. This is a rare thing.

Unfortunately it's quite easy to scoff at the song Rehab now that she's gone but really that is a misinterpretation. The song is more accurately about getting over a messed up relationship and being depressed about it. She doesn't feel she has the time waste on rehab because alcohol/drugs isn't the problem. She just wants to sit and listen to Donny Hathaway songs and get over it without anyone thinking she's nuts by checking into the priory. Obviously, in hindsight, she should have gone to rehab but this song isn't about refusing to accept help for a drugs problem as it superficially appears. As I said before, we don't know what the story is with her problem because all we get is speculation from the gutter press.

Heavymental, I fear that dmclite was right. He's never had to duck a rational argument because they just go whoosh over his head. And I suspect he'll never understand a deeply human argument until he's learned to deal with his own human frailties and accepted them with a little humility.

Anyway MM, I'm not sure what your motivation is but I think you've misrepresented your feelings anyway. First you said she was a whore, now you just say she dresses like one. First you said you don't care about her dying but have since said you feel pain for her family and friends. You've also recognised she is talented. I only stuck with the thread because I couldn't see any chink of humanity in some of the posts here but I think I've seen enough to bow out and not feel so disappointed about it all.

Peace and love, Mountain Monster. Enjoy your Jonas Brothers albums.

Haha my first posts were a bit misworded. As far as the whore topic, I feel that girls who dress like that, as with Jady GaGa and the countless teenage girls who want to look "sexy" are whores because of the way they dress. But as said, I do have a bit of humanity.

To sum up, I won't feel pain over Amy Winehouses death, because she led a life of disappointment to the people she cared about, which I find absolutely terrible. I never said I don't feel sorry for her family having lost a love one, just that IMO there is no reason to be sorry that she is gone for the general public, as she was just a, well you know my words.

I'm not really not that bad, trust me!
