I predict this thread will hit 25 pages today.
I don't think it is that straight forward. It will probably be slow and steady for the first 10 pages, then there could be some attacks on FF after the first climb which could speed things up the count. I can then see Rick Chasey going crazy on the final climb and all the desktop DSs having their say, and than a big acceleration after the final climb with all of them saying 'I told you so'.

Needed to start this early, as frankly, this could be one of the best stages of any TdF ever. The anticipation is killing me.

I think Sky Sports has a presenters job for you

You make me thankful that they don't have much cycling. I can imagine them camping outside of Cavendish's house when the Sky rumours get bigger. He won't even be there, of course.

general apathy from GC contenders scared to attack each other. oh

That would basically mean the GC's giving up & allowing Evans to win. Evans may still win but everyone else has to have a go to at least try & break him/each other

Can people stop going on about how good this stage will be. I'm due in work just before the live coverage gets under way. You can at least pretend it'll be a nothing stage.

    Stage Cancelled.

Whilst risking saying the bleeding obvious, I think that only alberto (possibly with help of Samuel) would be up to the job of putting some seconds into cadel. Cadel wld not have to worry about Voeckie, his TT will take care of this.

So expect Voeckie, Sammy and Bertie to try very hard and let's hope that Cadel will really show them how it's done (otherwise it will be a wheel sucking contest all the way to the top).

Note that nothing was said about the schleckers...

Don't know how this fling with Sanchez is going to turn out, doesn't bertie need to drop him at some point, as he's ahead in the GC?

Contador can ruin Sanchez in a time trial.

    Dale Winton?

Sanchez needs to drop Contador and Evans for a couple of minutes before the time trial if he wants to win.

I'll be avoiding the thread on the final climb :(

Can't trust myself to look like I'm working when they're racing so am watching it tonight.

Is it live on ITV on the internet? Genuinely not feeling too good today and thinking of going home but I've always struggled to do that so might content myself by watching online if possible.

P45 in the post from his Basque paymasters then?

    Sammu at 32-1??! Where??

I put a couple of quid on him at 11-1 this morning on Betfair.... I think him and Contador will attack together, work together, and then Contador will gift him the stage for the work hes done the last few days....

Breakaways not being allowed away just yet, interesting stat about Voeckler, a total of 19 days in the yellow in his career, only Armstrong, Indurain and Canca have wore it more!

The way it'll play out depends on the wind.
I don't know how much the road twists and turns.
Here's hoping for predominantly cross winds...
There are only about 8 bends in the 8 km. The forecast this afternoon is only for a light wind (2 on Beaufort Scale) directly from the North. The road moves in zig-zag fashion northwards, but I doubt the wind will play a role.

If they finish at the very top of the pass, and not at the Desgrange monument, then the last km will be crucial. It’s much steeper after they go past the tunnel entrance and the monument, average 10% compared to average 6.5% from where they leave the Lauteret.

Contador trained with Euskatel youth team, so, like Sanchez, despite not being basque, is eligible to ride for them.

I feel the need to correct this.

In the recent history that's the order but there a young unknown by the name of Merckx and some French badger baiting guy in there too, amongst others

32-1 are his odds to win the whole race.
