    This makes me wince. The problem is people have started to write like they speak. They would say "could've" which is a contraction of "could have", but not realising that they write "could have" instead ARGH!

    In France the administration (who decide what is taught and how) have decided that the only written form worth knowing is the contracted form. (I have two school age children and a friend who is an english teacher in a lycée). It is not surprising that there is a lot of confusion over what the words really are. Also very frustrating for me!

    HAHA! The admins must share my pain. You can't write "could of" on this board, the same system that stops you swearing auto-changes it to "could have". :D

    EDIT: You're right! But if I check my edited version it still says " could o-f "
