Why would they spin the fork before putting it in the box?

No, they didn't. You bolted the bars on without turning the forks properly.

Why would they spin the fork before putting it in the box?
Why would you not even check?

prehaps the 'experts' on this forum should be offering a new guy good advice from your years of hardcore professional mountain biking. but then again it's easier to just take the piss. once upon a time we were all new to the sport and the dark art of mountain bike mechanicals. if i am honest after four years i am still crap.

The attitude is probably more to do with the fact that it was posted in this particular thread, and that the poster seemed to imply it was (another?) oversight by Canyon.

Exactly. It was also the same attitude in another thread. Guy's a knobhead, who refuses to accept any responsibility.

yeehaamcgee, if you unsure of what a 'knobhead' is, can i suggest you utilise a mirror. . give the poor lad a brake (excuse the pun).
  • To get back on topic my mate recieved his Nerve XC on thursday and the brake line is routed over the top of the BB as per the original postings. I directed him to this thread to have a look before he starts using it.

And from a quick look at his bike I must say I was quite impressed with the thing.

If you're trying to make threats of real world violence, I will gladly reciprocate it if that's what you really want. I assure you that such a thing is not "below" me, and it does not intimidate me.

Are you going to still carry on PMing me and making a scene here, all because you forgot to spin your forks round?
It seems you like to make an awfully large fuss over such a dumb thing.

i don't remember welsh_tom using aggresive language such as knobhead. i am also quite sure he can fight his own battles (even if, like my good self, he struggles with spanner monkey skills) . i'm riding tomorrow and being old and fat and rubbish i need a good nights sleep

I don't know who out of Yeehaa and WelshTom would win in fisticuffs, but I sure as hell know who would win a spelling bee.
Can't you guys use a spellcheck and some capitals and punctuation?
It makes my head hurt, and my heart sad.

We did. But he deserves a bit of micktaking too, for blaming Canyon for his mistake and for keeping on dodging it even after it was pointed out.

No, even dumb people (especially dumb people) can use capitals and a spellcheck.

Ok, enough of the fighting! IMO this is not Canyon's fault for the reasons I said earlier, as when packaged the forks often get rotated. When fixing the bars it is up to the builder to unravel the cables and make sure they are correctly oriented.

I am not having a go at Tom, far from it: just pointing out is a common thing for bikes to come boxed like this, and in the future is something to be aware of. Hell, I have done it meyself ;-). Nobody is perfect lol.

    But look out for it.

also check the bars are central as they often get shifted sideways make things fit better in the box.
