Seems to me that the value bet on there is Cadel Evans at 20/1

Though I'd be really tempted with Bertie at 8/1. He's not that far behind.

    22/1 for Wiggins is a mug's bet.

the 22/1 Wiggins will be because it's a UK site, so they get a lot of money on Wiggins...

Unless anything mad happens it looks like a spint finish.

    Cavendish for the win.

Be interesting to see how the intermediate sprint plays out.

    I get that.

    Fools and their money!

ETA Wonder what the bookies policy is on drug's cheats who are stripped of the win?

It's pretty straightforward. Once the victory is officially announced on the day they pay out. No refunds for doping etc.

Cavendish has a bad record for the 1st bunch sprint in a GT.

I think you're reading the odds wrong - the odds are for the rider listed below - so Evans is 8/1 and Bertie only 11/8. It'd be interesting to know what the T&Cs say about Contador being thrown out after the race.

If not Cav, then it would be good to see Ferrar led out by the yellow jersey. Can't see it happening though. Petachi for me. For his only win of the tour.

Yeah. Not a bad shout. It's a small drag from 400m out to the finish.

He put in a lot of effort into the Giro though.

Haven't seen the map for the last 3km though. If it's twisty, I'd count Petacchi out, who won't get the same team support out to place him where he needs to be before the twists.

    I think it's a Boulevard sprint though.

The break of 5 took the int print. Cav took the bunch sprint for 6th.

    The break has been caught..

I learnt a long time ago never to back myself.

Great to see Farrar take a sprint. He looked good on the 1st stage intermediate as well (hard to know if you can judge anything by that). He nearly stacked it in his celebration though. The "W" was a nice touch.

The docking of points from Cav and Hushovd was a disgrace and sets a stupid precedent. Surprised me that they'd take action against the man in yellow like that.

What I really don't understand is that you get Christian Prudhomme saying Cavendish should be given a real shot at the green jersey, and then the commissaires make a bizarre ruling like that.

I think they are out to penalise him harshly this year for last years troubles too. It's not unknown for the chaps in power out there not to delib put a guy they don't like down is it...

Is anyone else disconcerted over how a former hour record holder and world time trial champion looks like any other MAMIL now? Doesn't bode well for the rest of us...

The one liners from his adverts are bad enough on their own... but when he pops on to the screen immediately after telling us how his mates dragged him off his bike after a race it makes me think there is some comic irony embedded in there.

Correct me if I'm wrong (I know you will), but if my recollection of French at school serves me well, "mur" means wall and "mûr" means either blackberry or ripe. So all this talk of walls is nonsense, and actually we are all waiting to see who will be first to conquer the Breton Blackberry.

Is it is because it's Breton as opposed to French?

This is complete speculation and I may have no idea what I'm talking about.
