  • Just had an early morning ride out and this bike is still managing to blow me away. 1st impressions of it being slow on the descents have been completely smashed. The forks have settled in a bit more now and it absolutely flies down the trails... sooo direct and really really easy to change direction.
Got my arse over the back and it floats down the trail!

I've got used to the thinner bars and twitcher handling now, and its just superb!

Few cable stretch issues as expected, but a few tweeks and it was back up to scratch. I really do like this 10sp malarky.

Big thanks to supersonic for pointing me in the way of the Boardman. I don't regret it 1 little bit!

    Lovely pedals, bit expensive though.
What are Straitline's in White worth, any cheaper?
  • They're wellgo MG1 pedals.

There are quite a few on eBay, very cheap as well, why didn't you just buy them, they are at £9.99?
  • I doubt that very much.

Well they are BMX Wellgo, I think I may get a pair in Green or White but, you could have just emailed the guy and made an offer, I always ask them and they give me a discount on everything.

I did a poo on the grips, look at it in the wrong way and I swear you'll get pink eye

Can have a stint on her though if you want see what you think, gonna be hard to get hold of one though as i believe they've stopped making them, may be a 12' model coming out soon.

BMX wellgo pedals are very different to wellgo MG1s. For a start the mg1s are made from magnesium and dont weigh 2 tonnes. Stop trying to give advice on things you know nothing about.

    FS Specialized Camber 2011 (2011)=(stolen)
    HT Merlin Malt one (sold)
  • Cheers bud :D
  • probably time to update this a bit...

as some of my recent threads may have suggested, i've been fairly dissapointed with some of the components longevity already :(

SRAM X9 10sp shifters are fairly dire tbh. Muck gets in them quite easy and makes them almost pointless so i've already had to clean them out and fit a new cable.
I may end up changing to an XT 10sp setup if it continues.

The BB30 is a big disappointment too. The sealing on the bearings is terrible. 1 wet ride and i've had to strip, clean and refit because of the grinding noises. Compared to Shimano HT2 BB setup, BB30 is poor imo.

Other than that the bike is brilliant. Frame, forks, brakes and wheels are all taking it in their stride. Been getting more confident and pushing it a bit more. When the gears stop fecking about, it really is quick on the trails.

Could use some new brake pads fairly soon though, the wet weather is killing the pads!

Bad news on some of the components.

If you need some M770-10 shifters i might have some hardly used ones
  • Well the X9's seem to be ok now that i've cleaned them out. Will see how long they last before I have to repeat I guess!

BB noises have stopped too which is good!

    Cracking ride last night :D
  • So the Boardman is still going!

Had an off last week, doesn't like slippy DH tracks too much... But i'd put that more down to wrong tyres and small disks for my weight

The creaky BB is back though. Starting to think it might be the self extracting bolt coming loose. Going to strip, clean and replace with some locktite.

Haven't changed a thing since buying, all completely standard and its a great little workhorse!

Nothing to do with lack of skill then

 to be fair you passed me on the DH when you had the Commencal so no; not a lack of skill

Hope you sort the creak out. We're out in the week, prep for Nant Yr Arian get involved

  • Long 35k ride at Nant Y Arian today... was a perfect ride for the Boardman, its 1st long outing!

There were some deeeeeeep puddles (I'm talking over hub/BB) so i'll have to check them for grease!

    Cleaned pics!

  • Finally got round to ordering a QR seat clamp lol. its a 35mm clamp if anyone is ever interested.

Got a green Salsa QR, far too expensive but it was green

Still having to service the crankset after 2 rides. The BB just starts to creak like fark but fortunately it only takes about 20 mins to strip, clean and put back together.
  • Updated pic... can just about make out the green seatclamp

Just found you give the size of the clamp here!

Where did you find the green clamp? Wiggle have the Salsa 35mm...but only in pink. Evan's cycles do have a black one, but green would be nicer. I've only been able to find a green one on eBay so far.
  • leisure lakes :)

ordered 2pm, arrived 9am next day!

Expensive for a seatclamp though! but tis the only one I could find in green!
