They messed it up pretty bad. Suddenly disintegrated into nothing.
Petacchi definitely got Cav with the early jump. Pretty canny riding drifting left. Wouldn't expect any less.0 -
That should never be allowed to stand.
it's a hard life if you don't weaken.0 -
Cavendish thinks it was ok, so no problemFckin' Quintana … that creep can roll, man.0

Feel for cav, but it is in Italy, Italian stage win etc etc. when is the next sprinters stage?0

Will they take over Sky's role in setting up sprints for other teams to win0 -
Cav thinks it's OK or he realises there's nothing he can do about it except get a bit of credit for accepting it with good grace ?
Petacchi's always one of the worst for veering off his line but going one way then the other then starting to go back again really does take the biscuit. Commissaires set a precedent with that one - interesting to see if Cav takes advantage by using the same tactics.

Think Cav accept that such things happen in sprints. He wont be happy of course but doubt he'll log an official complaint
Think you can kind of get how annoyed he gets when him or his team get penalised for doing similar moves0 -
ALaPlage wrote:Not good form drifting right across to the left when he took the right hand side to start his sprint. Clearly was looking to block. and then drifted back right as soon as Cav went to the right to take him.
Cav has every right to be p*ssed at Petacchi and a clear sign of his guilt when he avoided to look over at Cav.
Agreed.
They showed the podium on Sporza. Little smile from Cav when the curtains opened, then very "neutral" after that. Belgian commentators were urging him to smile.
VERY aggressive champagne spray - taking it out on the crowd, maybe? And I don't blame him.
Petacchi seems to have found a way to beat him - ride slightly slower but stay in front at all times. Boring stage, sh!t result.Head Hands Heart Lungs Legs0 -

What a suprise a media giant putting a positive slant on themselves.
What would you have them say? Start slating their own team and riders? Sure that would be very productive. It’s the most beautiful sport in the world but it’s governed by ***ts who have turned it into a crock of ****.0 -

No they're not.
All they posted:
"Davide Appollonio sprinted to sixth place on the second stage of the Giro d’Italia after Alessandro Petacchi had claimed a controversial victory over Mark Cavendish. Click here for more:"0 -
A hectic sprint, if many concentrate on the last 200m duel between Petacchi and Cav, the final 2km were very dicey with riders rubbing shoulders and the bunch changing shape a lot.0

I hate to see Cavy in pink. However, I loved the way Petacchi shut Cavy down in the final meters! Cavy has no right to complain. Petachhi took a page right out of the "Cavendish Book of Sprint Etiquette." Let's hope to see more of it this month. Now, if the Garmin lead out can master the "Renshaw backpedal drift" we might be able to write off Cavy completely.

Guess who wrote this tweet...
Good job by Petacchi, nothing wrong with his sprint..some ppl just don't know how to lose..
...and then die of an irony overdose.0 -
Love Cavy's reaction at the end. The wanker tries to slap Petacchi. Too bad Cavy didn't slip his front tire and do a face plant.

Can we expect an obligatory "Cav is the scum of the earth" post after every stage?0

I imagine Cav is trying to cool and cover his infamous hot-headed reputation. Was probably just a little too difficult to contain just after the closing seconds of the sprint.
Good to see him on top form0 -

Damn you Petacchi! What a cheating doping ****!
And yes, I watched it!0 -
Someone has stolen Cav's mobile and is tweeting, pretending it's him.
But we all know that it's far too calm and measured to be him.0
