I'm absolutely gutted, endomondo stopped recording this workout when I used my phone to look at a map. I was going to someone's house on the way home, so took an unusual route, used Google Maps to check I was going the right way (endomondo's map wouldn't load) and when I went back to endomondo the GPS must have turned itself off, which is why the 4th track from that day starts a few miles away from where the linked one ended.

I got a peeeerfect tow off a horse truck, looking at the map it was at least 1.5 miles of steady 35mph+ on the road bike.....which hasn't been tracked! My camera went mental and produced about 8 million gobbledegook text files, so I can't even use the time stamp off that to prove I did in in a certain time!

All of which means you're lying, and must bow down before my speed demon antics.
    So BAH to you
    BAH, I say!
  • Blimey I,ve just noticed that I'm 4th fastest and my legs dont even ache

Endomondo seems to have had a bit of a brain fart today, went out on road bike did 25.8 miles according to bike computer which i was pleased with, then realised that endomondo had stopped recording after 24km GGRRR.

    Cheers
    Bill.
  • I'm proper p1sst off with it might try sports tracker now they have got it sorted for android, but then I won't be able to follow everyone else in in the distance challenge. :x

Endomondo is able to import from a few file formats. If sports tracker exports to any of these formats you may still do the distance challenge. (It's what I do and I use a garmin gps).

Yeehaa, do you use a different bike in your workouts marked as Cycling instead of Mountain biking? The sport selected depends on the bike or the terrain riden? I only own a mountain bike so I always select "Mountain Bike".

I only own a mountain bike too, but I put rides which are mostly on road, or paths, as "sport" and rides where I deliberately head off road as "mountain biking".

Not been able to do any serious mileage in July, due to work. Not sure if I'll be able to do the planned 1000 miles in August as I've currently got at least 6 days this month where I won't be able to ride.

I'm determined to crack the 1 minute for the mile though. Been to look at a couple of prospective routes, but nothing I've seen so far would be suitable - mainly due to the road surface.

You realise a 1 minute mile would be averaging 60mph, Cap?
Even with an engine, there's very very few hilsl you can manage that!
I reckon 50 would be possible down the Snowdon Pass, with higher gearing.

    I know.

I can wind it up to over 45mph quite easily on a couple of local hills pushing a 53X11but run out of road before I max-out. I have a 56t chainring somewhere in the shed and I think I may still have a 68t one at my Mom's house.

over a mile though? Do you not have corners there?

That's the problem, I can't find a road locally that I can wind it up on and keep it going before I either get to a corner/junction/incline and have to slow down.

    exactly.
I know of several hills where I can reach insane speeds, well above 45mph, but those speeds just can't be sustained fo one reason or another.

I may well have found the perfect place for the crudcatcher mile though

First off - you have a 68t chainring?
Secondly - where did you get that from?
Thirdly - can i buy it from you?

and finally you want to get youself over to bath and the A46 Batheaston Swainswick Bypass, 3miles in length, 2.5 mile decent at a total of 950 ft in vertical height, i have hit 49 down there on the road bike but sh*t myself

Right i find this really unfair, i dont have proper hills, and if i did find a steep hill i'm sure as hell some chav would want to race me down it, plus i dont have a road bike (nor want one) and i'm also pretty sure i would crap myself at anything above 35+mph :?
So for this reason i'm out.

Well not really out but i cant win so if i say i'm out and just hang around down the bottom of the pile. Ok with you?

I was just racking my brains in the John, and i think i know of a hill heading into london that has a few kinks in it but may just be a mile(ish) down hill, may have to put the slicks on and try it out?
or did you do yours on you Halo's or knobbies?

Well it did eventually load up the whole trip but it had nothing on yours!
Knobbies were slow and buzzy on the road down the hill and only reached 34mph, i have only a single ring up front so couldnt pedal anyfaster, and the road wasnt as long as i thought it might be.

What this did do was force me into investigating some new routes and found some new single track and horsey path. loads of dead/no one susing land right next to the M25 so will investigate a bit more at a later date.

So my speed is set for the month, i will attempt another go at it when i have another spare night, i have some of my night officers looking for long steep hills for me

hehe, good effort though. Yesterday's blast by me was with two new mountain king 2 tyres, instead of the old worn ones. They roll remarkably well, it seems. Cornering on tarmac is disconcerting at 30+mph, they don't half make a racket!

i almost bought some last week in 2.4 flavour, how well do they do in mud?

So far, they excel in everything, they clear mud very well, the only thing they don't really clear is sheep sh*t, which tends to cling to them a little.
Their weakest point is when cornering on very loose surfaces.

I've actually gone down to 2.2" with them this time, since I wanted a nice narrow(ish) tyre to do a 10 hour enduro with this month. I didn't fancy carting around my massive 2.4s, and yet I didn't want a tyre so narrow that I wouldn't use it anywhere else, so 2.2 is a nice compromise.
If it wasn't for the enduro, I'd have gone for the 2.4s.

its odd, they only sem to do them in 2.4 for the 29er in the shops, 2.2's (which i would of prefered) are out of stock. I dont think i'd have room for a 2.4 on the back so i will order and wait or follow the rest of the world onto nobbie nicks come winter

Must get some more sealent as i used all mine on the application of my current mud tyre set up, Kenda's dont like tubeless apperently?

Road tyres are, oddly enough, much better on the road! I found that Mud Xs squirm about very disconcertingly over about 25mph on tarmac.

It's like trying to sprint in high heels made of rubber*.

    *I imagine.

I was pleased with my effort this month though, clung onto the coat tails of the big boys, and if it wasn't for the stupid f*cking GPS turning itself off I would have (easily  ) got the fastest mile. Ah well, I'll have to try again, drafting is fun!

It does seem a little odd that my phone and camera both just happened to fail at the same time doesn't it. I wouldn't trust me as far as I could throw me!

So I just uploaded my rides from the second half of July, totalling 450 miles, and yet it's not added them to the challenge - does it 'close' it once it ends, even if you add workouts in the date range? Boo hiss!

I won in my mind :-)
