What Sporza doesn't show there is that his tub rolled and he fell after the line - http://www.cyclingnews.com/races/tour-of-qatar-2-1-1/prologue-itt/results

Yeah that's pro! He must have got a shock not expecting that. He has quality handling skills - remember when we weaved through that crash (TdS I think) at the sprint finish.

Yeah, I think you're right - though in Flanders he's normally known as a clumsy easy-crashing rider, I think because he fell in front of Hoste in Paris-Roubaix a couple of years ago, ruining Hoste's race. Sour grapes...
  • He has a pretty awful position on the bike visually. Compared to Boonen too.

    That'll be the BG Fit.

"Nah Mark, you don't wanna be aero. Let us flip that stem up for you. Drop the saddle a touch. Doesn't that feel much better?"

Hope he's still got his old Addict in the garage.

BUT SERIOUSLY! Everyone looked a bit awkward on the bikes - even Wiggo and Canc. I guess because they can't position as they'd want to due to the different geometry of the standard bikes vs their normal TT bikes?

Canc looked pretty on his road bike last year. Doubt it's any different this year...
  • Is this a thread for spoilers for the whole tour of Qatar or just the prologue? The title suggests spoilers all the way through but just in case, the link below gives some first stage updates from Koos Moerenhout, not sure if there is info elsewhere

I thought Wiggins looked pretty comfortable on his road bike. He seemed to have achieved a very flat back, not unlike his TT position. Not that it helped his time much!

Fair enough, I was only watching the highlights on a tiny screen while on the bus home - Probably over estimated the difference the standard bikes made. Ii'm easily (and regularly) wrong about such things. :)

  • Think this will be an interesting sprint. Some good team support and decent sprinters.

This point has been made a couple of times now, and I don't see why it matters. It's a nice early season leg stretch and we get some of the biggest Classics riders tuning their form.

Do you really expect the crowds to be huge, there's less than 2 million people in the country itself in total?

It does make you wonder why the put the race on though doesn't it? I mean yesterday was ridiculous in terms of the course etc......if nobody wants to go and watch cycling there, why go there? Surely it isn't value for money for whoever is promoting the event? Or perhaps it is and its just another example of the Far East trying to embrace selected bits of Western culture? Think I probably miss the point of it all somewhere!
