Greg Lemond did once say that LA would never confess, that's true- it's just not in his nature.

    Which is a shame.

But he must be at least concerned.

it takes 14 of 23 impaneled jurors to indict and if they don't we are not told they didn't. I bet it's over

Time will tell. This whole process will take years, even if they vote to indict that's just a trial, and that assumes that there isn't many months of legal objections and to and fro. Now he's gone again I find myself completely disinterested.

The AP article doesn't really say anything. It's just a "lance friendly" article that is widespread because of AP syndication.

As with some of the anti lance articles, you can't read much into it.

In other news, tomorrow might be a fun day for Livestrong.

May I point out that Iain is never wrong, but always bang on the money? * And usually ten seconds after it's been posted on some obscure web-page in outer Mongolia.

  • This will drag on, what has damned Barry Bonds more than anything else is his change in appearance, bigger cap size, bigger arms. I don't even know if it is clear Bonds has been indicted and the like, brought up on charges of perjury. I never see him in court. Likewise that runner, her name escapes me was caught because of her own admissions.

So the Armstrong saga will drag on, LA was friends with Bush, I guess there might be a remote possibility the Feds could look at what he is doing and go easy on him.

Sorry to have skipped most of this BUT...

Is Lemond jealous of Armstrong stealing his thunder. Lemond used to be the golden boy of american cycling with his blonde hair and his sense of fair play against the almost evil Badger.
After a great Tour win he managed to get himself almost killed and had to make a long comeback to then suceed with another 2 Tours; especially the one with Fignon  (amen; even though I am not religous) . This was an amazing career by any means.
This was Lemond's story in the Cycling History books; Lemond- a talented bike rider, who cheats death to prevail as the top rider once again; almost biblical of a man who
    almost dies to rise again.
Well, 7 years later, there was Armstrong who did the same story except for winning a lot more Tour de Frances and having an equal to worse near death experience.
I think Lemond may have thought he had copyright on that story but he hasn't any more. Lemond's legacy is now hardly visable under the long shadow of the Life and Times of LA.
I think that despite of everything there may be a a little bit of the green eyed monster in Lemond these days; he is a little too bitter.

Jerry3571, you'll need to come up with something a bit smarter than regurgitate some 'fan boy' piece from about 6 years ago. What you fail to mention is the lawsuit that was settled by Trek in Lemond's favour. Lemond was a fan of LA until he found out about the Ferrari arrangements and spoke out against them - since then the vitriol was mainly come from sources like the above aimed at Lemond. If someone made an unfounded attack on your reputation and livelihood then I think you'd be entitled to be a bit pi$$ed. At the end of this, someone's reputation is likely to be in tatters whilst another's remains intact as the US cyclist who did most for the sport - I'm not sure whether some have the capacity to work this one out?

Does Lance have a public opinion on Contador's positive test?

Given he was teammates and everything...

well, I hope Greg Lemond will give Floyd Landis financial help to fight the UCI action. Verbruggen was good at illegally banning legal innovation to punish Graeme Obree while EPO use become rampant and Obree had to beat such "legends" as Dr Ferrari clients Miguel Indurain and Tony Rominger .

Against Verbrugen, there was also a test for homologus transfusion available for example but not being used by testers. Verbruggen looked slow to act and negligent if not worse. Good luck Floyd.

I guess families of deceased who dropped cause of EPO use could fairly look at the governing body as ask if the governing body was too slow and laizze faire too in the 1990s?

    Perhaps hell say

He had a lot to learn and seems to have taken on board everything i toaught him!

Yellow jersey wearer (nuisance category) sounds as if he's been a cheeky devil:

    http://www.velonation.com/News/ID/7449/UCI-to-initiate-legal-action-against-Landis-unless-retraction-is-made.aspx
Verbruggen replied scathingly. “Such an aggressive approach might perhaps work in the USA but it does not in Europe and most definitely, not with me…. Your aggressiveness is not at all justified by a claim of $6,666.66 and is absolutely counterproductive.

I had one of them red bikes but I don't any more. Sad face.

O K now. We're 12 or so pages into the OP's "....hit the fan". I don't know about everyone else but when something "hits the fan" isn't it supposed to mean something bad happened. Yet all I read on here is, well, not much. LA is doing his thing, FL is doing his, GL is doing his, and so on down the line. So what did hit the fan????
