graememacd, while I'm not a weight weenie I'm curious to know if the weight of your frame is near the advertised weight.
I aim to order a Chinese frame soon once I decide which model to get :?0 -
i'll weigh it when i get it back from the shop, obviously it'll have the headset and BB30 adaptor fitted then though. it felt pretty light just handling it last night0

Vladvm, tell us more. I expect people are wondering who you are because you're new. I found more pics of your bike at Flickr. http://www.flickr.com/photos/52501621@N04/
So where's the frame from? It looks like this one from ebay seller carbon_bicycle, who I don't think has been mentioned yet http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Full-Carbon-3K-We ... 611wt_1135
Do you know who makes the frame? The seat stays remind me of the X-Space FMR-825 http://www.xpa-cycling.com/products_dat ... html&key=2 and the forks look like the Dengfu FM-001. http://www.xpa-cycling.com/products_dat ... html&key=2 Is this what everyone means by Chinarello?
Apologies if all this is covered elsewhere, this is the only Chinese carbon thread i've read so far.<hr>

More info on ebay seller carbon_bicycle, who seems to have a zillion frame listings. Here's a happy septic owner of some carbon rims http://forums.roadbikereview.com/showth ... p?t=229709
I want to build some ultralight carbon clinchers. I reckon that with the obscure 50 mm ones mentioned here http://weightweenies.starbike.com/forum ... 0&start=15 with 20/20 CX-Rays and Tune's lightest hubs I can get under 1200 grams. Not bad for such a deep rim! You never know, they might not even break. I'd be half expecting them to, so I wouldn't be too gutted if they exploded. If I build them myself it'll be easy to repair them or recycle the hubs with less iffy rims.<hr>

does anyone know which of the chinese carbon frames is closest to the Merckx EMX3? Not sure if I can source one.
Also, does anyone know the model number of the R838 - I know its not the FM0015 or 0028?
ThanksYes, I like riding in the rain...0 -

The R838 is sold by Carbonzone on ebay under the model name RB0040 -
replica Speedy Li Store
I bought it at Speedy Li's Store, Alibaba.
It is a very stiff frame and the ride is exelent.
Cost $610,- painted like the picture with clearcoat.
Paintjob is also very good quality.
Good value for money.
This is my second chinarello.
I am very happy with these bikes.
regards,
Ali, the Netherlands

Very nice. Did it arrive painted? Is it a good quality paint finish? Does it have a layer of clear-coat once painted?
Sorry for all the questions0 -
That's just spam from this place http://www.aliexpress.com/fm-store/900790<hr>

graememacd wrote:Took delivery of my stealth/R838 style frame from carbonzone yesterday, the postage from China only took 5 days including the weekend! The frame looks good in matt black and its in good condition with no marks or scratches. I'm taking it into my LBS later to get the hard bits done (headset fitting/steerer cutting and BB30 adaptor fitting) then hopefully i'll get it built up in the next few days and post some pics up.
Hi - did you request a matt black painted frame via the ebay auction? Also - did they charge more for the painting? Looking forward to seeing a few shots of it - thinking of getting something similar in the next couple of months as a project.
Cheers,

The Ribble Stealth / R838 got a rave review in this months Cycling Plus Bike of the year section. Looked really nice in the pics as well.
GB155: I would go for one of these. CAAD9s are nice but hard to find once at these sort of prices. Depends how many pennies you find down the back of the sofa!0 -

Which of the chineseframesets is most similar to this one?

I have emailed both tony from dengfu and echo from carbonzone and i've had very quick replies from both, (just 2 minutes reply for my last email to tony)
I'm plumping for an FM015 non isp from dengfu and the FM015 ISP from carbonzone.
But i'm not a fan of unbranded carbon so i'm asking about custom paint, which is a service they both offer.
carbonzone are coming out a little more expensive than dengfu but you do get all the safety stuff that ebay and paypal offer.
one other company to bear in mind is Fuerte Bici who offer a cheap chinese frame but are an english company so communication and delivery should be better and also offer custom paint.
I've emailed fuerte and i'm waiting to hear back from them0 -

You had me going there for a moment
If it was a R3 by another name, I'd order it tonight but sadly it not. But I do think it's a nice looking frame0 -

Just emailed DengFu about a front wheel...0
-
I've just emailed Yishun re some wheels!0
-
Tony at Dengfu has got back to me , 280 USD including shipping for an 88mm tub front built up with 20 spokes.
I'm giving it a go.0 -
Well i'm putting in my order to tony for an FM015 non isp today, and the total price has come to £330 for the frame, fork, custom painting and delivery.
But i'm trying to decide on the paint scheme!
I like this design:
but swapping the White area for black, but then I can't decide what to swap the black area to!
my current choices:
1. Dark Grey a la trek madone 5.9 2010
2. Purple (i quite like purple)
unfortunatley I dont have photoshop or skills to swap the colours over so i'm just going to have to bite the bullet and choose!
thoughts welcome though0 -
how about black and pale blue? or burgundy and white?"I get paid to make other people suffer on my wheel, how good is that"
--Jens Voight0 -
Not a fan of either of those, but I'm keeping an open mind0
-
IMO if you have te white area black and the black area a colour then you will need some other colour to break things up - eg a white line or double line to instead of going straight from the black to the colour. This will look more professional but like I say just my opinion - a bit difficult to explain but I'll try to get a qucik photoshop done of some colours for you to show what I mean. I'm at work just now but could get it done in the next coulpe of days. Alternatively look in the My Rides section at bike pics to see colours you like - I've got a particular fondness of Baum designs as I feel they won't age quickly.
