Looks like I'll fail in Oct :( I was knocked off my bike on my way home from work yesterday. Broken collar bone plus lots of scrapes and bruises. Unlike Bradley, they've elected not to pin the bone and are estimating 6 weeks before I can ride again.

My helmet is toast, so I'm counting myself lucky.

    Be careful out there folks.

Look out you chaps just above me - my shifts fall right for more riding this month and have just booked a week staying near Bourg d'Oisans next June, so with a goal of conquering the Galibier in nine months there's plenty of motivation to get some miles in & not be the lanterne rouge for long... :)

    Thanks,

i was going to amble through the rest of the year, now i'm going to have to train all through the winter

Ditto I've been slack (again!). My end September total was, however, only 18.

The 2 extra points don't really do justice to the wonderful riding in northwest Spain, preceding the Vuelta on the Farrapona stage, and the effort required to lug my heavy, fat-tyred mountain bike up those inclines. I really recommend riding Vuelta stages.

Ok - updated. I don't know - I get a bollocking when I wait a few days before posting the updates, so I do them on the first couple of days and have to update it - bloody cyclists.

Hehe. Since being made redundant earlier this year I've had little else to do but cycle. However, as a relative newbie (since August last year) I've not really had much experience of riding in winter. Today's ride in the freezing rain has made me realise that I'm a fair weather rider at heart. I hated it. Fortunately I had already decided to blow the remainder of the redundancy package on some bike tours in Thailand over the next couple of months. Sadly, there won't be too many days where I'll be riding over 100km but at least they should be ridden in relative warmth. :D

@pdstp: I'm still in contrary to yr last summary. Earlier this month I made a new post but did not edit my first post; this probably explains why you missed my Sept efforts. Sorry, I will not do it again until the next time that I forget.

Ouch - last chance i had to bag a 100km ride today - night out last night for a friends birthday but luckily had no hangover - however 70km in had a crash and bruised my leg and sprained my hand. Got back on then punctured 10km later with my gimpy hand i was useless but luckily one of our group came back despite being near the end of their ride to help. Damn you challenge I then had to limp my way the last 20km to hit my target.

As I expected, my broken collar bone means that I'm out. Seriously pee'd off . My consultant says I can't ride on the road until I next see him which is not until January. Turbo trainer only for me until then.

Congrats to those of you still in. You lucky buggers ;-) And thanks for the words of sympathy pdstsp, velocitizen and Pollys Bott
