thanks, well, i still think £600 is expensive. even £400. id pay about £300 but, seriously, im not sure how well it would do of road if you rode like a serious mountain bike rider. would the frame snap from the suspension?
and yes, titans have snapped, go in to the halfords store a mean, why the hel wud crbon fibre cost so cheap at £1000, it looks really tacky, and its aheavy frame.

The Fury is a good bike (it won WMB's pricepoint test); no doubt about that. It's clearly not going to just fail.

    It's like this:

A bike is worth what someone will pay for it. If Halfords can sell them to people at £600 then that's what they cost. Second hand prices vary obviously: but it's quite straightforward. You have a number of choices:

    a) Save up and but at new price.
    b) Buy second hand at now at market oprices. Save up if need be.
    c) Wait until the exact bike comes along at the price you want to pay. May take longer but it's up to you.

Arguing with owners about how much it is worth and then trying to haggle the bike off them WILL NOT WORK! Quit moaning. Buy the bike you want at a price you can afford. Go ride. Simple!

    On topic: getonyourbike: nice bike!

shukur what bike can you get for £300 and ride like a serious mountain biker?
my mate bought a second hand scott scale 40 for £600! its leaps and bounds better than the bikes your arguing about! a fury is a entry level bike nothing wrong with that of course but think your being a bit unrealistic about what you can get for you budget
but if you were capable of riding like a serious mountain bike rider you would probably know this
  • LOL Oh man how did I manage to miss this thread the past couple of days.

Seems to me like Shukur isn't even worthy of riding a decent bike. Just go to Aldi and buy a BSO man. Love the name calling coming from you, saying people are tramps. Mug.

    Safe.

As far as the bike getonyourbike, just ignore the haters dude! Some people have nothing better to do than hate haha.

don't you think the testers for the top magazines are serious mountain bikers and the thousands of people that own them? You don't have to own a top of the range bike to be a proper mtber
would the frame snap from the suspension?
you are a gem!:lol::lol: Almost every current frame out there uses at least a suspension fork and they haven't snapped.

You just make me laugh with your stupidity.:lol::lol:

MountainMonster- I ignore the haters anyway. I know that I'm faster than them. That's why I can ride with the advanced group at my club (and easily keep up with them/beat them in a race)for the mtb rides on my £600 bike (sorry, £370)

Some very good points there. I seriously think that even if they weren't "serious mountain bikers", at least they know how to spell simple words like off-road, or any of the other gems he has portrayed on here.

What upgrades have you got planned man?

well, look, go on ebay, there has been a few carrera furys ;latelyt selling for below less than £300 2nd hand brand new almost! im not saying there not worth it .. but am tryna save as much as possible so a can buy otha things for it like a pair of lights which retail at £50 n dey dnt even give off any light, wats the point man, an also, y is the light on the handle bar shudnt it be down below near the stem or above the suspension,, anyway forget that ..

basically, a dnt wna spend so much on a fury because its pretty plain to be honest, its not famous like trek or giant, av seen sum utube videos n saw this guy fallin off a bike n it snapped in half so a thought, doing jumps on these new bikes could mean the bike may snap 'if its not desighned for jumping or mtbing' ..

now listen up, if anyone is selling a fury please let me know, i have £300. i dont want the 09 model with black fork suspension but the 10 model. i am willing to stretch a bit more if its decent and has more on it.

    First off, it's I not a.

MTBs are designed for their purpose within the MTb community. There are different disciplines within MTB. DJ, DH, AM, XC and a few others.

If a bike is designed for XC, it "normally" won't hold up to DH conditions, which is probably what you watched a video of or something.

Unfortunately the only 2010 models you will get will have broken parts on it, if you really are only looking for max 300 man.

    1. The lights are designed to be handlebar mounted
    2. All new bikes have to pass the CEN test and this involves testing to see if it can withstand vertical pressure, ie landing a jump or drop off.
    3. You saw a video of a bike that snapped in half, not necessarily a Carrera Fury, the bike in question.
    4. I'm taken mine down the Kinver Downhill course numerous times and I haven't broken anything yet.
    5. If you read the sticker on the seatube, then you'd know that it's designed for AM, going up and then coming back down fast trails with drop offs and jumps.
6.The grey one is the 2008-2009 model and the current, white, version is the 2009-2011 model.

I've got some hope wheels (blue hubs and white Stans Arch rims) planned first of all and hopefully, then some new brakes. Shimano XTR Trail, nomnomnom. The problem is they cost a bomb so it isn't going to happen. Anything other than Juicys

okay, is the carrera fury a good hbike, can it handle any cndition?
can it handle big jumps? rough terrain for prolonged periods of time without getting a tyre bust. this is one of the videos i saw, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6UmaZIr-yv0 n da bike snaps n half. someone offered me on here a specialised for £450 with carbon material etc in blue, is that bike any good, hold on al see which one it was .. a SPECIALISED STUMP JUMPER IN BLUe hope brakes, carbon bars, carbon seatpost, pedals, seat and a new stem.

i need a bike which can handle all terrains and difficult jumps like the one in the video or worser but for less than £500.
  • a specialised will be wasted on you.And that video was a cheap bike from argos.
No bike will go forever especially if you plan on jumping
I assume this is French petrol - be careful in reverse - the car will retreat rapidly at the least provocation.

That was a BSO (bike shaped object).

You really need to work on your spelling and grammar. Some of what you're saying is unidentifiable.

Any bike, it seems is wasted on you, other than a BSO. Have you even jumped before? I doubt it. You'll fail way before a Fury will.
  • getonyourbike that might of been him in the video

Now listen up youth (see how rude that is), any bike will snap if you push it hard enough. I wish that when I started riding there was bikes like the Fury around.

And as for brands being more famous, lets see what a quick google search brings up.

orite but listen, why did you buy a fury for anyway?

a mean, can it level up to bikes which are capable of doing xc, am, dc and all those other mentioned synonyms which i do'nt bludy understand?

if you did 100 jumps in a day like the one on that video, would the fury survive? the fury IN WHITE 10 MODEL

I don't think many bikes would survive you 50/50ing a jump a hundred times a day

then the old bikes from back in the days were better then arent they, like10 years ago the steel bikes we use to ride, heavy aluminum, baracudas etc. a thort a new bike was so solid. anyway off out to eat, burga burga timne lol

Not actually read what I wrote there, did you?

I bought it because it is lighjt enough to keep up with the club when we're doing XC sections but come the fast and technical singletrack with drops and jumps, I can easily (read more easily, I fly past anyway) fly past.

DC- It means direct current and it's what's used in electrical devices after the AC current from the mains has been converted by a transformer. It's also used in portable devices. Where did you get DC from anyway?

How do you know the old bikes are better anyway, have you 50/50 a jump a hundred times a day on one?

Why are you asking about jumping, I bet you can't jump anyway. All you'll be doing is pootling around pavements. Sorry, you'll ride down a curb. You won't even ride on the roads as that requires some common sense and mental capacity, as well as basic bike control. So you'll pootle around on the pavements, breaking the law. Well done you!
