I think it's now twice that Strauss has got himself out to the 3rd ball of his innings. If he starts counting in binary he should be able to get to the 11th ball without having to face the number 3. Problem solved...
Actually, that little early slap in the face seems to have stopped any team complacency setting in and it's brought out the best in the batsmen to follow. Even Pietersen seems to have batted with a sense of responsibility. (This is all guess work though - it's all new to me. After decades of watching England, I've never seen any of this happen before.)0 -
Nodded off just before KP got his double. 551/4 a lead of 306 shame about the Ausbo weather but a note to Deptfordmarmoset, play will start at 11.30 tonight & not 12 so try not to miss the start of the days play again :roll:0

utterly utterly dominant
all batsmen getting runs
bowlers getting wickets
I know its late at night but am I dreaming ?0 -
Just watching the highlights from yesterday's play...
Aussie commentator: ''Here's a weakness, this is a huge weakness of Pietersen's. He will be that nervous at lunch...I'm sure...''
He (the commentator) should be worrying about the breakfast, not the lunch or the tea....0 -
In complete control providing the weather doesn't intervene (and the Aussies take the mick out of our weather!). Get rid of North early tomorrow the one more and into the tail - if that pesky rain holds off!0

Good to see Piet getting a wicket. When he first came to England, he was a good spin bowler who could bat a bit, and it would be nice him get back into it.
What was amazing about his batting was how hard he hit the ball, and how fast it went to the boundary. He seems to use lots of wrist, in an unconventional way, which presumably where he gets the extra power from.0 -
Hussey gone top edge.1 more down and 5 to go.0

9 down, one Ausbo stands between us and a win by an innings in Australia.0

All done. Perth at the WACA next. Great performance from the lads. 1 up, the urn is coming home0

The guys in work are certainly quiet today - nice being the only Pom sometimes! 8)Cannondale Synapse 105, Giant Defy 3, Giant Omnium, Giant Trance X2, EMC R1.0, Ridgeback Platinum, On One Il Pompino...0

I've just got in and found out that it was all over by 1am! That was over quickly! I thought there'd be more resistance. They're going to have to do some real soul searching now. Congratulations to the England team - some excellent performances from a bunch of players at the top of their game.0

Good to see Beefy still wants to knock that fool Chappell's head off!

Good to see some of the whinging coming from the convicts about England using 'foreign' players :roll:It’s the most beautiful sport in the world but it’s governed by ***ts who have turned it into a crock of ****.0 -
Bumpity bump ball...
I was all nervous about England at Perth, afraid of a bit of complacency, etc. And I just got home to see that Australia are already 168 for 6 and Swann's already getting a bit of turn. Very positive0 -
I remember some Australian asking a post I made where I said we would retire ponting before the end of the series being made a sticky ......
... I love switching on Sky Sports in the morning , I am not moving now till 10 and gonna drink it all in0 -
I see we let them off the hook, 69/5. What are we playing at?0
-
Finn went for more than 6 an over, something he needs to work on. Still, the Oz top order is still pretty shocking and showing no signs of improvement.0

I think it was just a case that the lower order batted sensibly, the commentators all seemed to agree that it was a decent batting wicket and also that England didn't bowl brilliantly all day.0 -
My bosses have all gone very quiet...!Cannondale Synapse 105, Giant Defy 3, Giant Omnium, Giant Trance X2, EMC R1.0, Ridgeback Platinum, On One Il Pompino...0

I'm not counting any chickens yet, as I've said every time you need to at least have got through an innings each and even then nothing is certain (as in the first test). Now if we can just bat all day tomorrow and Saturday then skittle them again I'll be happy0
-
I was going to say that it looks like tha Ashes are coming home but they haven't actually left the MCCI've added a signature to prove it is still possible.0
-
Aha, England skittled out 80-odd runs behind Australia. Advantage to Australia - it feels like it's been a while since they've been in front. We need some good bowling now.0

How about today? :P0 -
Nice of Australia to turn up .... maybe the fans will now
Shows what a weird game it van be. All the experts and ex players saying it was now a good batting track. Vaughan said on Twitter 400 was par. Turns out there's plenty of zip in it.0 -
Oh fiddlesticks.0

Nice to be right for a change, hopefully we can do another Brissie in the 2nd!0 -
...and I guess sometimes it's a bit easier0

Right, we're all square again! Blip or resurgent Aussies? It was almost good to see the Aussies fighting back. But not that good, obviously....0
