I couldn't agree more but I object to it and a host of other programs due to the tax I have to pay to fund them, all for the priviledge of owning a tv. The concept of the 'licence fee' is seriously outdated.
No licence fee = BBC turning out the same shite as all the other commercial and satellite channels.
And it all comes out of the viewer's pocket (advertising) anyway.0 -

Actually no, I totally support the idea for public broadcasting and in fact would gladly pay more for a license fee...it doesn't mean the BBC should p*ss the money they do get up the wall though!
It's as if the cake stop has transformed into the women's institute today! What wheels...? Wheelsmith.co.uk!0 -
as someone who tried ballroom and latin dancing at 27 instead of going back to rugby (I am forward build) I am glad I did. i ended up dancing for my Uni for 3 years and I can fully appreciate what an excellent job they all do on that show - the celebs and the professionals.
I could have done a 4th year this year but it takes up too much time (3hrs 6 days a week) and I need to do other stuff and i can't risk mountain bike injuries in the middle of competition season so I am done but it is so nice to be able to dance properly when the situation arises.
I suggest people give it a go. It's a lot of fun but do it out of 'strictly season' when there is less demand.0 -
I enjoy watching, not sure why. SCD, is naff and tacky, like Christmas.
If I could be *rsed to vote, it would be for Gav, as he looks like a genuine beginner, most of the others look like they've been dancing for years.0 -

Gav H done good today.
(Sorry, should there be ***Spoiler*** in the title? :? )0 -
Yes he was so much more relaxed wasn't he.
<rant>
I'd vote for anyone who helped to show Ann W the door - why doesn't she even try to dance? It's a shame that someone who can dance (Felicity? Michelle?) will be booted out while that sack of Tory dogsh*t will be allowed to stay. The same Great British public that loved Eddie 'the Eagle' Edwards.
</rant>
I liked that Matt & Aliona danced to a Nick Cave song.0 -
Time for Widdy to go. I think they should introduce negative voting - so have another set of numbers you can dial to register a -1.
I'd be happy to invest a quid in sending the old trout home.0 -
Also - some needs to have a word with Craig. Judges giving a 4 and a 9 is a bit off.0

Craig is the only judge who differentiates between dancers.
If it wasn't for him, everyone would be on the same scores...
Then again, I'd suggest some of the scores are probably not entirely to do with their performance on the night. Now where's that tinfoil hat I had?0 -

+1. I think CRH is the only one with a full set of scorecards!
The others have 6-10.0 -
Fair enough the married fellas having to watch to keep the peace but some of you fellas need sky or freeview at least. How many pages for strictly come dancing?0

Had to keep clear of this thread until I caught up on i-player this evening but......... there's no way they were being fair on Scott. Just a '4' from CRH?! You are kidding! And I really don't think Gavin was so special either - his dance had no more emotion than all his previous ones. Thought AdB was one of the highlights of the evening - very entertaining. I wonder if he really is enjoying hamming it up with AW or if he's just putting a very brave face on it?
Anyway, sorry to see Jimmi go but he was unlikely to make the last few so he had to go sometime soonish. I thought that any of him, Felicity, Patsy, Gavin or Michelle could have been for the chop. Ann is clearly 'doing a Sargeant'.

ps. I STILL think the worst thing about the whole show is Tess Daly.0 -
The only guys I know who watch shows like this are in relationships. One of the worst moments of my life was being invited round to a friend's for dinner with him and his wife. They wanted to watch Strictly before dropping me and my brother home. We ended up taking the bus home after 20 minutes.
I do like it when guys say that they like it though because of x hot woman. As I said to a guy once, there are plenty of shows for guys with hot women, so why watch shows aimed at women?!
Good luck to all you guys who watch it, but I'll stick to sport and going out!0 -

You do realise there is no such person as Tess Daly - The space she that she apparently fills is actually the metaphysical concept of being 'low-rent'. What you see when you look at her is your own shame and low self-esteem working overtime watching this blank human-like form on the screen. But there is no actual matter in the space and time that she seems to operate.
The same with Vernon Kay, Dermot o'leary, Graham Norton, Bruce Forsyth, James Corden. None of these people are real. Seriously. I worry for the sake of humanity that people still seem to think these people are flesh and blood, let alone listening to 'speech' and 'emotions' coming from their blank, bland appearances. Or maybe it's like bladerunner? What wheels...? Wheelsmith.co.uk!0 -

Ah, but the above mentioned, their agents and the broadcasters are all getting money (a condsiderable amount) from the public who should never be underestimated. they work in showbiz which is really just smoke and mirrors but v.lucrative at the top end. Best to just get out on the bike and ignore it (unless you can be part of it)M.Rushton0 -

You're absolutely right. No-one ever lost money underestimating the intelligence of the public. What wheels...? Wheelsmith.co.uk!0 -

The same projection of low-self esteem and mental illness as everybody else who thinks that Strictly existsWhat wheels...? Wheelsmith.co.uk!0 -
If the projection of low self esteem and mental illness is a tall, leggy blonde, then frankly, this world is a lot better place than I was imagining.
Now if you'd said that the mental illness thing created an image of a dumpy little tory battleaxe who stays in the competition far too long excluding people who are far more entertaining and attractive then I might have had to agree with you.0 -
Oddly enough, though I'm addicted to Strictly, I have the same kind of down-my-nose snobbery about X-Factor as simonaspinall has about Strictly. I wouldn't dream of ever watching X-Factor jeez.0
-
Now that the BBC and ITV have properly collaborated over the schedule. Both tend to get shown in our house. But the X-Factor is an abomination, with no redeeming features at all, except the opportunity to reflect on the nature of ambition, greed, self-awareness, appreciation of excellence etc.0

Perhaps they are hoping she will drop a couple of dress sizes ala Felicity and Patsy. Fat chance (no pun intended)2 Wheels or not 2 wheels..That is not in question.0 -
Frankly I'd require DNA testing to prove that Flic and Widdy are even the same species !0

Ah you saw through me...yes I am a snob, though to be fair it's not hard to look down your nose at, especially twelfty series in.
Having said that, can however many million people who watch a delusional projection of their own neuroses into a TV box devoid of space and time be wrong? No, they can't help it.What wheels...? Wheelsmith.co.uk!0 -

That's precisely how I feel.
Andy,
Would you bother looking at an X-Factor 2010 thread? I know I wouldn't, I would rather go out on my bike.
So, I am wondering why the guys with disdain have bothered not only to read, but contribute to this thread :?
Can't be normal,can it? :roll:0 -

Hmm..............I suspect one or two competitors might test positive for HRT0
