Nah, as I see it you make daft comments like the one i quoted above and cant justify it so use the excuse you are on a wind up. Nice get out plan.
you might also notice that i changed the bikes in my sig earlier today to complete the expert trolling.0 -
I wish all the poor people on their shit bikes would get off my trails. I didn't spend £5500 on my carbon 160mm All Mountain machine to be held up by some poors on their hardtails or even in some cases fully rigid bikes.0

Of course, they appear to lack any real intelligence, so will read this as a personal attack on them and their families, so I will enjoy watching you carry it on.
I don't get annoyed. This is the internet and you don't really exist in real life.
I just don't use smilies and you are too dumb to work out when someone is having you on.
As this seems to be your primary aim in life, I find that somewhat surprising.I don't do smileys.

I had four bikes in my life (and I've never not ridden) - none of which were expensive but all of them good. My last one - a Muddy Fox adventurer costing £230 has taken me thousands of off road miles here, in the Middle East and in Gambia. At the age of 54 earlier this year I bought an Orange P7 from the proceeds of a savings scheme I could easily have put to better use but it has ben inspirational to me. I was clocking up to 500 miles a month in the summer riding trails at dawn and occasionally pounding around the South Downs. Can you imagine a more overbiked situation than mine? I doubt it really but it is my fun that I'm having and my son can keep the thing when I'm no longer up for it - which is more than can be said if it were a cheap bike. The only downside I've found with this sort of overbike is putting new locks on the shed, installing a kryptonite ground lock and the expensive chain and locks that the insurance company demand. No room for my wheelchair!0

I wouldn't say annoyed, more of a debate mode. Nothing really erks me enough to get me pissed off or annoyed, to do that you have to fark me and my family over in some way. I just like debating different topics. I guess that's why i'm in the diplomatic track for university.
You say we appear to lack any real intelligence, but yet you guys are the ones generalising ideas and show over-jealousy. I guess everyones entitled to their opinion.0 -

its nothing to do with jealousy etc as ive had attack trail, patriot 66etc in the past all im saying is if i was going to spend alot of coin on a bike ive gota have some sort of knowledge of how to ride it thats all0
-
**resisting urge to get back into retarded circular argument**if i was going to spend alot of coin on a bike ive gota have some sort of knowledge of how to ride it thats all
But who's to say about that knowledge? If I was better than you, on a cheaper bike, then you've wasted your money.0 -
i see what you"re saying njee question is would you spend 2k on a bike if you did"nt really know anything about it or mtbing for that matter?0
-
cant be bothered reading all 9 pages but perhaps they were on holiday and had HIRED the bikes and gear??0
-
If I wanted to spend £2000 then yes, undoubtedly.
Just as if I had £100000 kicking about I'd buy an Audi R8, I'm never going to use it to it's potential. If I had a spare £500000 I'd buy a nice house, despite the fact that even the 2 bedroom flat I share with my girlfriend is more than adequate.
I just don't know why people have such strong opinions on what others spend their money it, it's insane.0 -

Oops forget to read the thread hehe0 -
Maybe it is a little hint of jealousy, maybe its the annoyance of seeing a good bit of kit going to waste.
Like any hobby I guess. I'm sure there are plenty of newbie golfers smashing huge divots out of a grand-a-year golf course with a full set of Taylor-mades. Because they can afford to.
Good luck to them. Dont forget you'll be buying their rig off them dirt cheap in 6 months time when they've lost interest; recently seen an Orange Crush on e-bay 'only ridden 4 times' - why? Also saw a Garmin Dakota gps, only 4 weeks old - owner selling becuse he's 'bought a better one with a camera'. Cash in on it.
Seeing people with all the decent kit and not much passion/interest/ability is slightly crass, but we all have to live with it.1999 Scott Vail - Work commute

Remind me, what is the point of this post!
I'm just thinking that if I spent 3k on a bike 5 years ago, instead of buying a hardtail, then a short suss FS, then a 3.5k bike, I would have saved over 2.5k, and although it might have been a bit too much for me at the time, I would have grown into it.. and it would have made me push myself more and more past my limit.
So, if you ask me, if your getting back into MTB'ing after a good few years getting a good job, raising kids etc, go out and reward yourself with the best bike you can possibly afford.
yes, it's a good feelling beating someone with a better bike, but I'd rather beat them than no-one.. and the more bikes sold, the more money goes into R&D, which means that the good stuff eventually filters down to make way more fantastic new kit.
Those blokes you saw in Edale, in two years time, will be flying down those same hills, on those same bikes, we all have to start somewhere.. why not on a bit of bling!
Obviously, if you are 12, crack on with the playground sniping!0 -
us poor (sic) sods who can't afford the best of all need to thank these guys, think of all the trickle down tech we got because they stumped up and manufacturers could invest to make the stuff cheaper.
Good sus, 9 speed is mainstream, good alu frames etc.FCN 120 -

How have I missed the point. I clearly understand your "point of view" of which you fail to base of any concrete evidence, and rather rely only on opinion. But hey, like I said at the end of my post, everyones titled to their opinion, and as such I start my opinion. Welcome to the world goes buddy, you're not always right when your passionate about your own opinion.0 -

See, this reminds me of a similar thread on www.ShuRadar.co.uk.
I wont bore you by linking to the whole 42 page thread, but the gist of it was the OP had seen a really fat bloke walking to the shops with some really (and i mean REALLY  ) expensive trainers on. He couldn't understand how said portly chap could justify spending ££££ on expensive trainers when he could barely run a bath, let alone keep up with him (the OP) on his daily 8km run.
Much heated posting then ensued along the lines of : 'they can obviously afford them so why not?' 'I cant stand people out on the pavements who are so obviously "overshoed", 'the other day I felt much smugness when I overtook a chap wearing some blinged up AirMaxxRadSik's in my HiTeks as he stumbled along some gnarly SeaShore'.
Bla bla bla zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzMTB's, SC Blur LTc & Cotic Soul (26" definitely aint dead!).
