The organisers have invited him to ride the crit to keep the crowds coming for his name
So how can the organisers justify that?
"Come see our race - oh and a suspected cheat who won't be placed"
The whole of this ruddy sport that I love needs to give itself a good long look in the mirror"Impressive break"

I disagree, if he does get banned and labelled a cheat, the sport should exclude him for the duration of his ban/suspension, not use his name to draw crowds."Impressive break"

Not looked up the details but if this is affectively just a club run to say goodbye to Checu then it isn't sanctioned by the UCI so they can't stop him riding on the streets.
Can't find any details of the crit at moment but if it's nothing more than just a show for a 16 year career with no money there then I don't have a problem.
Contador and Checu could be friends and until this has happened we don't know how much riding Contador will actually do0 -

Yes, but as we all know Contador doesn’t enter races just for training and always tries to win. He didn’t win therefore we can assume he was giving 100% effort and it wasn’t good enough.Mañana0 -

Having watched the Dauphine he was well below the level he usually is at, just like he was in the tour too.
The attacks he usually does just weren't present and even the Alp DiHuez stage that he really wanted to, and did win, he still wasn't head and shoulders above the rest as I would have expected him to be0 -
.................but some (Spanish) are more equal than others.
They didn't pussy foot around Floyd like this, did they?
I think the difference with Contador is he is a Multi-Tour winner so treated a bit more delicately.0 -

True but perhaps they should shy away from statements likeJavier Pascual Rodríguez wrote:This way, we can show him our total support."Impressive break"

If you like Flandes, Roubaix or Eroica, you would like GP Canal de Castilla, www.gpcanaldecastilla.com0

A month since the news broke, news which had been sat on for a while previously, and we're still none the wiser as to what will happen.
Would be nice if the UCI gave us some sort of timescale of when they expect to have something concrete to say, and what they're actually doing in the meantime....Warning No formatter is installed for the format0 -

Definitely, that would be nice if they could keep the fans and supporters of the sport reasonably informed. My commute:0 -

They're praying for a big news story to cover everything else up so they can quietly slip in a 3 month ban for Bertie to be served in January to March 2030, and hope it all just slips away into a bad memory.
Because surely this is really really simple. Rider tests positive for a quantity of a non naturally occurring banned substance, therefore +ive. Banned for 2 years. Rider can then appeal and try to get ban reduced/over turned based on circumstances. But that's for the rider to do not the UCI. This stinks because already they've behaved differently because the rider was the top GC man around, and possibly the biggest name in the sport. They've compromised themselves as an organisation, and it's clear that they should not be responsible for the drug testing and subsequent action that needs to be taken. They should run the sport, promote it, and leave the PED control side of things entirely to another body.0 -
I'm guessing a backdated 3 month ban and fine will be announced on Christmas morning.0

I don't want it to be, but I think this may be the outcome...
other option is that dodgy Pat prevaricates until the start of the next season and then says 'well if we can't be certain then we can't stop him racing otherwise it will go to court for restraint of trade on Bertie's behalf..' or some such other b()llc0ks"I get paid to make other people suffer on my wheel, how good is that"
