is that not the wales bike park? or is that going to be further south?0 -
nah, it's the Dh tracks being built in Blaenau. Which, incidentally, is only 30 minutes or so from Coed y Brenin.
And that mountain we're on is in the same area.0 -
The Bristol gorge, a few great DH tracks. Just a quick pic I liked of it. No used trial here but I still liked the look of it.
Edit- The trees at the bottom are a good 20ft+ high to get a roguh scale.0 -
taken from a cheap phone cam, but why is it that cameras flatten hills? This is the steep climb up to the top of Leith hill in Surrey, its a 27% climb.0 -
Any inspirational / aspirational / whatever story, to go with those last two?0
-
The one in South wales for DH is slated to get chair lifts if you listen to Dirt Jay0
-
I think the long term plan is to get something like that in Blaenau too0

Here's one from today's ride to the top of Elidir fach. I love days like this, the wind is howling (but warm, thankfully), and for the first time in what seems like ages, my body is actually firing on all cylinders. It's not so much the view from the top that makes moments like this special, more the fact that you got to the top, but I still think this embodies one of the reasons WHY I ride.
The intense wind meant I could barely stay upright, and had to take it very carefully for the first section of the descent, but still, I enjoyed the ride, and there was nowhere I'd have rather been.

This is a couple of years ago on completion of the Coast to Coast for Cancer Research UK (We raised £10k!!). Hadn't cycled since I was a kid and was extremely unfit (and overweight ) but trained like mad for the ride - This is a banner my Wife and Daughter made for me which completely choked me up.
Glad to report that I have shed about 5 stone since this picture was taken and while I have upgraded my steed to a posher carbon one, I still miss my Giant XTC hardtail as it was my first adult bike and meant a lot to me!!
Being a dad now that would make me cry like a baby! is that the Whitehaven finish or a totally different C2C altogether?0 -
I reckon according to the original scope of the post BigCol has to take the win. No?
Glad I don't have to feel bad for posting up sunny pics this time, the weather in the UK looks perfect.

Cowlyd loop + Marin trail in one day. A bit of an epic that made me want to do more epics.
The next day we rode the Beast at Coedybrenin and the day after that Penmachno. Good weekend.
