  • I got a blue topcap with that headset actually. Left it at the LBS yesterday though (will have to go get it on Monday), can use it with my orange HS bolt.

May also get some blue straitline levers for the codes.

Sounds good - emrace the inner tart

Seriously check out the Spike bars - really nice finish, and the white lettering on the black looks awesome.
  • Shes a real beauty mate, love it 8)

How does the frame geo compare with the 456? You reckon you'll like this one more?
  • The Big Cheese - Will do. Perhaps even those, with the new ragley stem when they release them (the orange one).

Da Mighty Chicken - It's a strange one really. Very similar in a lot of ways, but very different in others. Even though both frames are 18", the Ragley comes up a bit bigger (which is a good thing). It's also a fair bit slacker (also a good thing), MUCH lighter (again, good), and the paint isn't made of tippex (yep, good).

    So far, I think it's good :P

Want to get it all set up, so I can go for a ride tomorrow. and get muddy. Must dig out the Helitape, I'm SURE I didn't give it all away :?

i got a token headset from crc for my mmmbop.

it was exactly the same diameter as the head tube and looked sweet. also gave the crown enough clearance so my fork adjusters didnt catch on the down tube. also if your after a set of decent black chainrings i have a full set of xt m770 brand new unused for £40
looks nice, much better than the poop

    Looks absolutely amazing mate!

I'm considering having my mmbop as a winter frame, and the cotic as a summer frame, is it winter yet?

Tolk - I am seriously starting to worry about you - frame-whore!!!

    You knows it!

nice CWNT, very nice. at first glance i wasn't sure about the blue and orange combo but it's gorwn on me. very distintive. preferred it without the decals though.

  • Been on my first proper ride today. Absolutely blew me away. It comes in at 29.4lbs, which is about 1lb less than the 456, somehow though it feel much lighter when climbing.Perhaps it's just that first ride pep, perhaps it's because it's a stiffer ride, Ido't know, but I FLEW round my local loop, smashed a good 10mins off my PB. And point it downwards and you just keep going faster and faster. I didn't even oncefeel like I was anywhere near the limit.

    Just EPIC!

Aaaaaanyway, just thought I'd give the white bars and stem a try. What do you reckon? Imagine it with an orange stem though (Ragley Stubbing is on the way when they release them).

    White bars = win!
  • Mmmm, I was thinking much the same thing. It does need the Orange stem though, to break it up a bit.

I reckon that'll work too. I'd really like some black and white checkered ones, if only they made them!

it's a shame those grips don't match the frame colour exactly. i like it tho.

I agree, but I think the dark blue grips would look worse. I think that's about as close as I'm going to get it, and anyway, when I'm riding, my hands are covering them :P

hold on a sec. are those ragley grips a better shade match for the mmmbop???

    I'm being serious too!!!

they look it to me. although photos can be deceptive. shoot brant an email.
  • I bet you're right, look at the colours they do. they sell them in the same coulours they sell their bikes. However, the blue ones are still £14, and they don't have the orange lockrings, and I only just bought the SuperStar ones.

    Now, here's a serious question:

These Ragley grips look almost identical to the Superstar ones, I'm guessing they come from the same factory, so would I be able to pop the lockrings off the Superstar ones and slot them onto the Ragley ones?

the bars is a no brainer- Easton Monkey lite DH carbons will tie nicely with the Orange
  • CWNT - I know you said a while back that the blue headset was a bit darker, I'm looking at getting one, was going to get the black but they are now sold out so it's either the blue or the gold for me. So is it really enough difference to be annyoing and warrent getting a different colour/headset or is it really not that noticable.

that looks ace, colours are spot on, looks a bit gulf-y

  • Personally, it's a close enough match for me. Judge for yourself. You can see that the superstar headset is slightly smaller than the headtube too, but I'm ok with it.
Tolk has used nail varnish (apparently not his own) to colour in the gap left.

  • Cheers CWNT - I saw the pictures before but just didn't know from your comment whether the pictures were masking the difference, apparently not. I'm not too bothered by the size difference, infact i somehow think it kinda looks cool.

Get that orange stem on with the white bars! I am jealous of how good it looks!

  • I'll say it again, shes a beauty 8)

I liked your 456 but this is a level above IMHO, and I think the black bars look better, it matches the Joplin and saddle so much more, orange stem maybe but personally I love the subtlety of the orange spacers above and below the stem, but an orange stem would still look ace :D
  • It comes in at 29.4lbs

BIt heavier than the P7 then... I am now happy

Only messing, It looks great! really liking the contrast between the colours!
Great job on such a quick swap over too!!
  • Trying to decide between an orange or blue stem. Will be keeping the bars white, but getting some new ones (Holzfeller).

If I go for an orange stem, it'll be the Ragley Stubbing one when they release it. But I just think a blue one would look better. Straitline and Hope both do some nice short stems in blue, but I think the colour looks too far off the frame, and it'll look odd.

Anyone know of any stems that match the frame colour?

Get the Holzfeller WCs - I have them and they are pretty damn good.

    Bloody lovely job!
  • Cheers. :D

Got my XT Chainrings from Tolk yesterday (cheers buddy).

Fitted them last night and here they are (I only fitted the big ring, left all the others on there).

    DSCF0998.jpg

Think maybe some blue or orange chainring bolts are called for

That is much better! the darker chainring brings the orange crank out much better IMO :D and plus mow it matches your rear mech :D
