Blue and Orange Mmmbop - Crudcatcher Bike of the Year 2010

Found out we're getting a bonus at the end of this month. I may or may not have something bright green heading to my work for Wednesday next week.
Won't be doing anything with it, just couldn't resist the price! One for next year mebbe.
Any pics of what you meant with the headset yet?0 -
-
Built!
Still need to re-align brakes, index gears and fit chain. Pics not the best due to being taken in the kitchen in poor light.
Also need to fit the stickers. Was going to leave it blank, but I think it'll look better with the (white) stickers fitted.

Looks awesome CWNT, +1 for the stickers defo, will make it look 10x better, maybe just the mmmbop one for the top tube?0
-
Oh, and here is what I meant when I said the headtube is wider than the headset:

for me it still looks a bit all over thge place with the colours but it looks a lot better than i imagined. also +1 for the stickers.
oh and it looks 100x better than the poo brown 4560 -
You're really not helping my will power. I just got a new bike last month, I'll be getting a divorce next month.0
-
Is the headset quite a darker shade of blue to the frame or is it just the pics?Less internal organs, same supertwisted great taste.0

What do you know J?
In your vast experience..... LMFAO !
I think the Orange and blue (albeit loud) looks freekin awesome CWNT.....
as the old song goes... " Dont go changin' to try to please me...." 8)0 -
to be fair to cwnt it's virtually a straight swap over at this point, only just put it together, nevermind tweak it.0
-
No, the headset is a bit darker. To be honest, It'd probably have been better with just a regular black one, but I figured I'd take a chance.0

^ This.
Got to get it set up properly. Then I'll look into some bits and pieces to tie it all in.0 -
-
Very nice CWNT, much better with the white decals, ties it all together
Cant help wondering if black chainrings would be a massive improvement on the bling scale :?0 -
Looks absolutely amazing mate!
I'm considering having my mmbop as a winter frame, and the cotic as a summer frame, is it winter yet?0 -
Black chainrings are actually on the "to-do" list. But as a decent set is so expensive, it can wait until these ones have worn out :P
Any other suggestions for upgrades / replacements?
I'm looking at maybe changing the bars and stem
maybe some orange cables
perhaps some blue pedals to match the frame

Tolk - I am seriously starting to worry about you - frame-whore!!!0 -
looks so much better and i'm starting to like it more.
i'd get new pedals in blue as your don't seem to be in the best condition anyway.
oh and isn't that a easton vice stem?0 -
Amended.
Yeh, the V8s are all but dead. Although to be fair, they've lasted 2 years with absolutely no servicing whatsoever. I mainlyuse SPDs and just stick the flats on for commuting. But I'm thinking I may go back to flats full-time.0 -
CWNT - I just purchased a set of Wellgo V12 mags - a LOT cheaper than DMR and they have the screw in pins rather than the hex key pins (which are a bugger to get out when they are all gnarled. I think I got them for £30.....0
-
Oh no doubt, I didn't buy the V8s out of choice, they came fitted to a bike I bought
I find the V8s lacking in grip, so unless the Wellgos have better grip, I'd probably look at something like Superstar.0 -

The Wellgos are better IMHO than the DMRs (which are rebadged/lighter Wellgos anyhoo)
Grippy pins, longer than the DMR equivalent. I have size 10/11 feet and they are not too small or uncomfortable.
I have the Superstar Ti axled nanotech, and they are freeking awesome too (but cost me £80) as opposed to £300 -
It was the nanotechs I was looking at actually (non-ti version) in blue,
However, if Welgo fit their pedals with longer pins than the ones they do for DMR, they may well be ok.
Size-wise, how do the Nanotech compare against the Wellgo? I'm a size 12.0 -

The wellgos are narrower, but chunkier. As I mentioned I am an 10/11 and they are fine.
The nanotechs are wider and thinner/lighter and just as good. Theres about £10-15 difference in price so not a nightmare.
Also, as before I went for the V12s for the 'Dale. But when I got them out of the box I was so impressed with them they went on the BFe0 -
mmm, we shall have to see then methinks.
As the resident tart, what would be your opinion on bars/stem colours. Leave them black, or...? (I tried white bars and stem last night, it looked awful)0 -

If that was my bike, I would go for a Thomson stem (60/70mm) as they are awesomely made.
And I would by a set of Spank Spike bars in gloss black from CRC (£48.99)
Also, I would consider the new Hope DH stem in black too
Theres a nice mix of colours there, coloured bars and stem would be overkill methinks... could always toy with headset caps/spacers in Orange?
Superstar do an awesome integrated top cap/bolt in Ti... in blue0 -
I got a blue topcap with that headset actually. Left it at the LBS yesterday though (will have to go get it on Monday), can use it with my orange HS bolt.
May also get some blue straitline levers for the codes.0
