lol @ sheep. Leguape who posts on the forum rode the Etape the other day and was attacked by sheep on the same mountain:

I almost said earlier I was brought off by sheep on a descent in the Forest of Dean then realised that it would be an unfortunate choice of phrase given my Welshness!

The LeTour ticker causes a huge controversy, by saying they were goats, not sheep.
The forums wlll burn the midnight oil over this one. :o

A bit unfair of the lead sheep to push on while the others were stuck at the side of the peleton..
Gasping - but somehow still alive !

One of them had a limp - does that count as a 'mechanical'?

Lead going back out, hopefully they can get it even bigger before the final climb if they continue working well together.

Dual mooners at the sprint point! Bet they'd been planning that all year.

Kelly saying they only normally run their tyres at 120 PSI. I didn't think tubs ran at so low a pressure! I run mine much higher - I though that was part of the point of them.
The pros know what they are doing and 120 Psi is fine on smooth roads for a rider of average weight, 100 or so would be more like the norm in the wet or on the pave. Higher pressures really belong on the track where the surface is totally smooth. If you ride at too high a pressure on the road the tyre will not do its job, deflecting a little over irregularities, rather it will 'bounce' over them costing energy. Comfort, grip and tyre longevity will also be compromised. Front tyres need 10 psi or so less than the rear.

P.s. 'Fast' tyres are 'fast' because they are able to flex over irregularities with little loss of energy. If you pump them solid you are almost returning to riding a solid tyre and there are some good reasons why pneumatic tyres were developed, not least in relation to their 'speed' on less than perfect road surfaces.

Of course ITV decided an ad break would be an appropriate way to celebrate the sprint point. Not that I'm sure I'd have wanted to see that.

Navarro, Tiralongo and Vino are all still there, though. By the time they get shelled it might be too late for Schleck.

Course he will! He's the "Greatest rider since Merckx", haven't you heard?

interesting - not often you see the President of France in the back of a Skoda... far less common than a Welshman in the back of a sheep!

They've taken back nearly 2 minutes in the last couple of k and they haven't hit the Tourmalet proper yet.

Who was it originally said the EBH / Merckx thing? It's my first season back watching in a while and EBH was a new name to me at last year's ToB.

Probably around the Giro last year, he was very impressive.

But if you look at his amateur / U23 record, he was Cannibal-esque. Won almost everything he entered.
